In “Othello”, the main character, Othello, shows many flaws. But throughout the story, Othello isn’t the only character that shows character flaws. Most of the characters have some sort of flaws. The major flaws that are shown throughout the story are: Cassio’s fight, Desdemona’s loyalty, and Emilia’s loyalty are all character flaws that lead to the play’s tragic outcome. All of these flaws are connected also.
In “Othello”, some of Cassio flaws lead to this play’s outcome. In act 2 scene 3, Iago persuades Cassio to have some wine to drink. Iago does this so Cassio could get drunk and start doing things he won’t do when he isn’t drunk. At first, Cassio is set up to fight Rodreigo. Then once Montano comes to intervene the fight Cassio turns to fight Montano. This ruckus awakes Othello and Othello requires Iago to tell the story. Iago says it's basically all Cassio’s fault, so Othello takes Cassio’s position as lieutenant. Later on, Cassio pleads to Desdemona to tell Othello to give him his job back. The pleads Desdemona gives to Othello makes Othello think Cassio and Desdemona are having an affair. This “affair” leads to the death of Desdemona.

For example, shortly after Cassio is relieved of his duties as lieutenant, he goes to Desdemona to get his job back. Desdemona certainly says she will get Othello to give Cassio his job back. To give Cassio his job back, Desdemona constantly bothers Othello and begs him to give Cassio the job back. This makes Othello start to wonder if Cassio and Desdemona are having some sort of secret relationship that he doesn’t know about. Othello’s Demise Othello, the lead character in William Shakespeare’s play Othello, is done in by the same character attributes, which propelled him to become a great military leader. He has accomplished great victories in battle to the likes, of no others. He is held in high regard throughout the nations as one of the greatest military leaders and is called upon to fight in the most challenging battles successfully. The tragedy of “Othello” is the destruction of one’s integrity. The play is one of the great Shakespearean tragedies, which are all “a play dealing with tragic events and having an unhappy ending, especially one concerning the downfall of the main character,” (Oxford Dictionary) who in this case is Othello. He was a Venetian general living in Cyprus with his lovely wife Desdemona. The play begins with one of his most trusting friends, Iago, who is furious about Cassio being appointed as Othello’s lieutenant rather than him. Given this, Iago forms the web that he would use to ensnare the characters that he would use to bring Othello down for him.
Emilia was also involved in the problem which ended her life in a matter of minutes. Once Iago had no other than to confess Othello finally realized what a big of a mistake he had committed.
