Life currently today in 2017 has its many similarities and differences to the book Our Town. The events that transpired in the book Our Town relate and differ to daily life in many ways. The book is a fictional story narrated by a man called the “Stage Manager” who explains daily life at Grover's Corners , New Hampshire. Life in 1901 in this small New Hampshire town isn't much different than life today in towns across the world. In the first act of the book, the Scene starts off at Grover's Corners , New Hampshire, where the Stage Manager’s explains the daily life for the people living and growing up in grover's corner. Citizens of the town like Mrs. Gibbs and Mrs. Webb alongside their children lived daily life just like the rest of the town. Routines and chores are completed from the different children in the town like Howie making his milk deliveries. Romantic affection is found later in act 1 when two characters George Gibbs meets his neighbor Emily Webb. As the Stage Manager starts act 2 it's taken place 3 years later on; on George and Emily’s wedding day. In this act the Stage Manager showed the structure of marriage and is explained it is to be a great husband. In act 2 the Stage Manager liked to include flashbacks of previous events. For Instance, he included a flashback of George's decision to stay in Grover’s Corners with Emily instead of attending agriculture school. At the end of the act with the wedding of 1904 Act III takes its place. Starting nine years later, the scene is set at the cemetery overlooking the small town of Grover's Corners. At this point in the book, Emily has died and is about to be buried. In this act, The Stage Manager uses characters after death
