In order to make progressive steps towards delivering a good service for citizens of the community it is imperative that as a company we highlight areas such as communication where barriers can present themselves in different forms; therefore ensuring that as a company we are able to adapt to individuals and groups and work alongside them in the best suited method to achieve positive outcomes. A few strategies that can be used to overcome barriers of communication are:
• Assessing the environment
When communicating with an individual or group there can often be distractions, in today’s society one of those distractions is technology and with that being said removing these types of technology for example, phone, laptop, and tablet it can assist in conversation flow and concentration can be enhanced if focus is on communication. As well as making sure the environment isn’t too noisy or too busy to support the communicator to concentrate on what they are trying to say, this is another distraction.
• Person centred approach
A person centred approach can be implemented in many aspects, however just by acknowledging an individual’s boundaries and respecting them for example the slang or language that it used to communicate with them, will have an effect on how communication takes place. When attempting to speak with
