1P- Opening- Imagine, you have just woken up and you are holding a cup of coffee, you walk to the back of your apartment into your patio garden, and what do you see in the distance? A mountain, but not one made of earth, but one of trash. Over the last few months living here, this problem has been growing, the bin seems to fill up quickly, and sometimes gets so full the lid on top cannot close. When this happens, residents become confused on what to do with their trash and recycling, and often they begin putting waste into the recycling bin, or leave it on the ground. When this happens, waste management refuses to pick up the trash, meaning it stays until the grounds keepers take it to the landfill. It is obvious that our system is not working, and the residents are unable to cope, and being to run amok. However, this can change with some effort on your end. As you continue to read, please understand how annoying this issue is becoming, and the threat it poses to your tenets. An overflowing trash bin is not only ugly, unsafe, and disgusting, but a hazarded to the community, I hope my …show more content…
In 2014 alone, it was estimated that Burlington alone put 3.5 million gallons of polluted runoff into the Haw River. Meaning our apartment complex is responsible for part of that number. Taking steps to prevent this, while beautifying our community, and solving a resident wide daily issue. So please think about how the problem could be solved, the issue at hand poses a concern for the residents. This is not problem that can be solved without the collective efforts of the residents, employees, and its owners. Despite the amount of money that will have to be provided, the community will thrive, having a new option to handle their struggle. We can not only expand our trash awareness, an issue that all Americans face at one time in their lives, but help preserve the community we all reside in and
Team, I’m with Rey, you can’t pick if the Reps aren’t done. And right along with Pete I don’t think a Reach needs to complete the actual Replenish. I also believe we shouldn’t tie up any doors for a replen either. I recognized this was a challenge for us while I was mapping, so I built rep locations into the cart map (see picture below). This is where a Reach drops off a pallet, and a walkie driver completes the replen and returns it to be moved back up.
In Katie Kelley’s essay “Garbage,” from The Norton Sampler it argues New Yorkers frivolous attitude perpetuates their garbage problem. Jerome Kretchmer, the Environmental Protection officer, perpetuates Fresh Kills, New York’s largest landfill, with his ignorance. Kelley says that “Jerome Kretchmer (…) had-taken his seven-year-old daughter’s class out to Fresh Kills for a field trip.” (108).
Even though they recycle and recycle the amount of trash is endless. According to Vik Muniz he wanted to help them find a solution to their trash problem, but he never once stopped to think about or offer a solution to the problem. All he did was get them to continue to work picking up the trash and using it to create his art project. Vik Muniz did not help the people in Waste Land address the problems they face on the daily basis. He instead hired only certain people to appear on camera and work for him, so he could create an art project.
What we need to do is recycle more. We need to keep our world clean and not full of trash. Some people just think it is alright to throw their garbage out the window of their car and think that nothing will happen. Well, that 's not true! Animals that see it think of it as food and once they get into it they may get stuck or get cut on the thing that you threw out.
Many people have heard of the phrase “Go Green” which basically stands for recycling and reducing the amount of waste. “ Waste Not, Want Not” is an essay written by Bill Mckibben. He goes into great detail about how wasteful America really is. I couldn 't help but agree with this essay because the things we do in our everyday life are slowly destroying our earth. We as Americans often get more of things than we need.
Hello Jessica, I agree having the right team is very important. No one wants to babysit a team member because that can set the team behind and decrease the team spirit having a slacker. It is important that everyone plays their part and enjoy what they are doing. It can be difficult trying to contact the right person through a school to get your items placed within their organization.
I am writing to express my concern regarding the visible amount of trash in our neighborhood. The surroundings of Dentonia Park and all the way to the Golf Club are filled with pieces of paper, cans, broken toys, packages and all the sort of unwanted objects on the grass, ruining the pleasant experience of walking in the park with the children. It is a duty of each citizen to preserve the city and it is not excusable to throw away garbage on the streets, however, a few measures could serve as friendly reminders of a person’s obligation. There is a lack of garbage bins in the park and on the sidewalks and this could be one of the reasons of why people are disrespecting the environment. If there is plenty of places to dispose the garbage properly,

Every day we bag and throw away our trash, but never really think about where it actually goes. The trash is emptied into the garbage trucks back where the worker throws it and it is compressed. The garbage has this stop called the “transfer station” (Rogers 188) which unloads it. According to the author of the essay Heather Rogers in “The Hidden Life of Garbage” (188), landfills and trash that are building every day are making the environment polluted, which is truly astonishing.
Now we are talking about recycling. So, what actually does recycling means? Turning used materials that are labeled as recyclable over to your local waste facility designated in a disposal container as “recyclable” materials to be taken and reused as material for a new purpose defines recycling . In order to create a new and different product, a recyclable product is turned back into a raw form that can be used. Recycling efforts can significantly reduce additional waste that will not only harm the planet today , but future generations as well.
