In our current day and age, we live in a world of near-unlimited access to information and extraordinary computing technology. A world of smartphones and online communities, almost everybody has some model of iPhone or Android. Best Said by the Pew Research Center “Overall, 84% of U.S. households own a computer, and 73% of U.S. households have a computer with a broadband connection to the internet, the bureau reported.”, indicating the size of the online world here in the US. It seems as if computers now rule the world, and this has interested plenty of individuals. I included a computer geek who’s now attending Penta Career Center for the Information Technologies Academy Program. In other words, I’m leveling up my computer park to become a …show more content…
Owens Community College is a college I plan on going to once I have graduated from Penta and Rossford. I wish to go to their Computer Science Major Degree in AAS. I want to get my undergraduate here to curb the costs of going to college someplace else. This place will equip me with basic knowledge of the degree field I want, but for my next phase of my strategy, I will need something bigger. Enter Ohio’s beloved college, Ohio State University, well known for its football rivalry. Football and Jocks aren't all that the school serves I mind you. One of the Programs I am looking into is Ohio State University’s Computer Science Program. I like the program’s credibility and reputation for being one of the best. Due to OSU’s location and area, I can easily go there once I’ve graduated from Owens Community College. I am choosing OSU for its location and its program, also my chances of getting in are much greater than attending MIT or Harvard (mostly because of my reckless grades,).Hopefully, I am fated to be an Ohio State University Graduate, it would help make my game company come quicker than
After listening to the wisdom of Husky, one can recognize that he offers valuable insights, but also provides some inaccurate information regarding academic affairs in community college. Beginning with the valuable information, he is correct when he states that the cost of community college, in both tuition and price-per-credit, is significantly lower than a four-year institution. He is also partly correct about the curriculum. For students enrolled with the intention of transferring to a four-year institution, general education courses in the liberal arts are offered that will transfer to their desired school. He explains that these liberal arts courses are generally smaller than those offered at larger schools, and provide for more interaction with the instructor – both claims are true.
From kindergarten to senior year, I have been preparing to make a decision on where I want to go to college. This decision for me has finally been narrowed down. I want to go to school where I can meet great friends, get a phenomenal education, and make some great memories. The major I would like to pursue in is offered at a fair amount of colleges, but these two stood out more than the rest. Although Kent State is a great university, I feel that I have a better chance of succeeding at Ohio University with all of the different programs and organizations they offer to all of their students.
An issue that could arise is a major adjustment in my study habits. Currently, my study habits may not be disciplined enough to achieve the grades I desire on a college level. Although this awakening might be harsh, it would force me to develop proper habits, preparing me for college two years in advance. Although the preparation that the Ohio State Academy would grant me is a strong reason to attend, the primary reason for my application is its intrinsic value. Although my high school offers a solid catalog of AP or CCP courses, the classes offered do not allow me to further my education in my fields of interest.
“Peace is not absence of conflict, it is the ability to handle conflict by peaceful means.” Ronald Reagan once made this statement and its meaning resonates with me personally. When he made this statement he recognized conflict’s inevitability and the need to have the ability to resolve conflicts peacefully. This reality is what drives me to pursue my Master’s degree in Political Science with a concentration in United Nations and Global Policy Studies. With the rise of globalization it is becoming increasingly important for the US to have representatives who are able to successfully interact with individuals from other countries.
The University of Miami offers many selective majors and minors for students. I am eager to start a new chapter and gain many opportunities, and experiences with a high-level education from the University of Miami. The reason I want to transfer to the University is because it’s time for me to move on to a bigger environment. Furthermore, I would like to participate in the most honorable athletic programs in the country. I believe the culture at Miami would be a good fit for me because of the diverse student body on campus.
My plan is to attend a four year university full time at University of Washington Bothell and major in computer science field because I am passionate about working with technology, and I want to understand how we can continue to draw knowledge from it. In addition, I plan to attend graduate school while working in the computer science field after I finished with my undergraduate school. I want to be able to give back to the society for all the resources it provided me to reach this point in my education and continue working toward fulfilling my life goals. The Intro to Computer Science class at Roosevelt is helping me understand what it takes to be a computer science major student. One thing I learned from the class is that success comes from patience and effort.
As a computer science major, I understand the importance of being able to think critically and creatively, communicate effectively, and work collaboratively with others. Wofford College's liberal arts curriculum will provide me with a diverse range of courses in subjects such as literature, philosophy, and history, which will help me develop a broad perspective and cultivate the skills necessary to be successful in the technology industry. Additionally, Wofford College's focus on community and civic engagement aligns with my personal values, and I believe that being part of a supportive community that values service and social responsibility will help me become a well-rounded individual and make a positive impact on the
I have been studying mathematics and computer science in Northern Virginia Community College for the last two years. In mathematics, I would like to study actuarial science since I appreciate how actuarial science combines math, business, and economics and uses hypothetical models to estimate future risks that big corporations might encounter. Moreover, I have a good business and economics back ground; I took some business, economics as well as accounting class when I was in high school. Even though I never had any programming experience, I believe that my strength in mathematics will help me be a competitive programmer if I work hard and get a chance to join a challenging university like Carnegie Mellon University.
Computers and I go a long way back … I discovered them as a toddler, tapping the keyboard on my father’s Dell Inspiron. Later, I learned my English alphabet on the fifteen-inch screen. Today, I know they make the ‘impossible possible’ – IBM’s Watson being the best example. Currently, I am the Secretary of my school’s Computer Club, and hold events where I invite eminent computer geeks. In the last Speaker Series my guests were Microsoft’s Mr. Pradeep Jhunjhunwala, and Mr. Rohit Kumar, from Chapter Apps, a Silicon Valley-based startup.
Brown University is known for its’ vigorous curriculum and for preparing individuals to best serve the community, nation, and world. Beginning at a young age, my family members and educators instilled in me the importance of education, always pushing my thinking and challenging me to go the extra mile. Now applying to universities, I can confidently say that I have been given the tools to take on another challenge in a classroom full of students just like me. Being exposed to challenging curriculums early on, I have grown accustomed to nothing less and given Brown’s reputation and challenging curriculum, Brown University is nothing short of the perfect place for me to continue my educational career post graduation. Being one of the most prestigious
For most high school seniors, choosing a college is one of the most difficult decisions they will make throughout their high school career. Students must consider the advantages and disadvantages of many options such as location, size of the school, class size, tuition, and room and board. While making a decision on a college for myself has been a long process of researching my options and discovering which school fits best with my needs, I have discovered that while The American Academy of Art (AAA) and The School of the Art Institutes of Chicago (SAIC) have advantages, I should attend Columbia College Chicago. The American Academy of Art possesses an interesting background. Frank Young Sr. dreamt of creating a school that would “provide
When students can step back from their own lives and identify elements of the world around them, they will be able to easily pick and choose what aspects they want to change or keep. This skill goes a long way to help students throughout college and the rest of their lives. With the mentality that change can come from a simple flick of the wrist and raw determination, students At U of O will go on to change the world. From the campus in Eugene, students will disperse across the world and become doctors who create cures for cancer, Supreme Court justices that diminish the pay gap, or Peace Corps officers the effects change in developing countries. No matter where UO alumni go or what they dedicate their lives to do, they will be able to change the
The ALIGN program cherishes the diversity of thought in non-STEM undergraduate programs and aims to blend your past education for a fulfilling career in technology. The rigorous nature of pursuing two bachelor degrees in four years is an achievement in terms of accomplishing an additional bachelor degree in four year and is demonstration of my passion and hunger for learning new topics. Economics and business administration complement with computer science in terms of the critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving aspects required to succeed in a more technical graduate degree. Knowing that I can handle a rigorous workload throughout my undergraduate career gives me confidence that I can replicate that in my graduate studies. Business school elucidated my ability communicate business problems and solutions which aligns with skills required to succeed in computer science.
My interest in the Computer Science major at Carnegie Mellon was first piqued while I was in the Microsoft Student Partners Program, where I met a Technical Evangelist from Microsoft who graduated from the course. I had heard from him how the nation’s best graduates of Computer Science were often recruited from Carnegie Mellon. Naturally, this keen interest sparked off by my encounter with him did not just stop there as I am now sitting at my desk writing my CMU supplementary essays. As someone who has been trying to find myself within the tech sector in the future, Carnegie Mellon’s vast ties to the technology world only serve to underscore its appeal.
I am writing to express my continued interest in Georgia Tech. I am particularly drawn to the College of Computing’s Computer Science curriculum – the Thread program, outstanding faculty, and state of the art facilities are what specifically make Georgia Tech my dream school. Throughout my high school career, I have excelled in AP Computer Science courses, been involved in Programming Club activities, and led my high school programming team to Code Quest, a programming competition at the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics. I am eager to join the Undergraduate Research Opportunities in Computing (UROC) program and make an impact in the field of Computer Science with my interest in Big Data Analytics and Machine Learning.
