Packer describes a few incommunicable attributes of God. These particular attributes mankind cannot duplicate or strive to be, are Lord, King, Savior, infinite, eternal, unchangeable, and just (Packer, 1973, p. 20-21). God is the creator of the world, and the Messiah that came back to save the world (Packer, 1973, p. 50, 55). Furthermore, the Lord is the epitome of holiness. Holiness describes His perfection and inability to sin (Slick, n.d.). Despite our sinful ways, the Lord still wants us to strive to be like Him. He has given us the ability to emulate some of His attributes and characteristics. The Lord is full of wisdom, and is willing to give wisdom, to those who ask. He wants us to also be wise, and educated in the His Word.
He wants us to listen to his instruction and teachings. Following the call of Jesus means putting our nets back into the sea even though we are tired and had no success, at first. Following the call of Jesus means being subjected to questioning, again and again, whether we really love God, more than anything else. Following the call of Jesus means the commissioning and re-commissioning of oneself for the task given and entrusted to us a part of His body. And to be more obedient and mindful of our relationship with God and with one another as we continually care, feed and nurture each other, in the ways of Jesus’ life and ministry.
God gave us his word and teachings through the Bible. There you can find all things that are virtuous, and it commands us to dwell upon these things in Philippians 4:8: Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy – meditate on these things. (NKJV Phil. 4:8) Here God is telling us to “meditate” on all things that are good and virtuous and describes what is good and virtuous. (NKJV Phil. 4:8).
He is equating his actions to that of a god, as if he is worthy to compare himself to a god. He is giving the stories he has heard about the gods as his object of holiness, without involving the gods own holiness. His standard of holiness is a faulty interpretation—that off trying his father because his father neglected a slave out in the gutter and he died.
Like so, God has attributes. In a Journal call "A Perfectly Simple God and Our Complicated Lives" Gregory B. Sadler give the attributes, "God is supreme essence, life, reason, salvation, justice, wisdom, truth, goodness, greatness, beauty, immortality, incorruptibility, immutability, blessedness ', eternity, power and unity. " It was in Genesis 3:3 where God It is now over two thousand years since the death and resurrection of Christ and we yet are experiencing the love that God gave before the death of Christ. If God was dead then more certainly his attributes would be dead with him. Its 'God supreme essence ' that the true and living God that allows many to experience his love
He seeks to please, “The earth is satisfied by the fruit of his work.” He is like a gardener with a strong hand to ensure stability and a caring touch to make his creation content. Furthermore, He ensures that there is “wine that gladdens the
God also gave us instructions in His creation, we learn this directly from the Bible. Genesis 1:28 “ God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”
The qualities preserving the lives of others, overcoming a great force that no one else is able to overcome, and contrasting that great evil
As sovereign God , He works within and through man to “produce a quality of life quite unseen or acknowledged at the time.” This is made possible only through numerous trials, hardships, sicknesses, and difficulties – experiences that polish and perfect creation. As designer creator, He, in His sovereignty, prescribes man’s unchangeable features even before he is born.
He wanted to read them and learn the knowledge of others that had come before him. Knowing
The characteristics depict God to win and success. An example of this when they say He has “triumphed gloriously” and also He is said to be “glorious in power”. They also see him be powerful in a sense to be able to “shatter the enemy” and that He is “a man of war”. At the beginning of their journey, God heard their cries and gave them bread to get.
He engineered us and He knows His creation. He knows how He created us and He knows what happened to us when Adam listened to the true false teacher and rebelled against His
We and god share the same attributes but the control and power in the attributes of god are infinite and ours in finite. As we share the same attributes god has created us to serve our fellow men (humanity). • To love god: To love god doesn’t mean to follow god but to follow the will of god not because of the fear but because of love. Love is always a free choice.
In most religions, the God or Gods that are worshipped are said to have no flaws. This notion is displayed by religions like Christianity where Jesus, the son of God, is portrayed as the most perfect example of what it means to be a human who lives a fulfilled life. He emulates the values of honesty, humility, service and love to those around him. Furthermore, he is a teacher that people flock to see and learn from for he is all-knowing. However, Hinduism takes a different turn as, though the Gods are portrayed as powerful, they are also portrayed as learners that just like humans, could fall from grace and favor.
How does the interpretation of scripture inform the creedal affirmation of God as Trinity? How does faith in God influence speech about the attributes of God? Devastating as it is to hear and say, it appears that numerous factors challenge the understanding of God in Modern Theology. The most prevalent ones are: science in religion, religious practices and social issues. Additionally, profound questions are raised about the presence of God in almost every tragic historical event, unfavorable medical diagnosis, oppressed institutional setting, acts of terror, and natural disasters that appears evil, or out of character for the loving, creator and keeper of this vast universe.
