Constitution DBQ Annalyn McCay The constitution guards against Tyranny in many ways. A tyranny is usually referred to as a person or a group of people that has a lot of power on their hands or having complete control. The constitution guards the U.S. from tyranny by dividing power between the U.S. government and the state governments, it also distribute power between the three branches of government, the Constitution also guards the U.S. from tyranny by having equal representation from all the states. The constitution guards against Tyranny in many ways.
1. The Constitution of 1787 attempted to resolve agreements on regulating trade, taxing, protecting private property, and several other weaknesses the Articles of Confederation did not fixate on. Another controversial topic in the Constitutional Convention was the question on representation. Two different plans were presented: the Virginia Plan and the New Jersey Plan. The Virginia Plan wanted representation to depend on the population within a state, a national government with three branches, and one house that would elect the people in a second house.
At that time congress had no real power because of the Articles of Confederation the US had adopted in 1777. Congress had to rely on contributions from the existing states. Needing and knowing that a change was needed the delegates from different states met to form a new plan of action. One that would give congress more power, equal representation for each state, form a new structure of government and the way it would run to benefit the United States of America. This is why the convention of 1778 was announced, during this convention two different plans were presented.
How The Constitution Guards Against Tyranny The constitution, the american law. The constitution was made in Philadelphia in 1787 with the intent to replace the Articles of Confederation as the papers of american law. Because of the unfairness and the tyranny that the americans suffered at the hands of the british kings and rulers they set up the constitution in a way that certain writings would act as a guard against tyranny, an example of these guards are federalism, separation of powers, checks and balances, bicameral. Tyranny is defined by James Madison as “ The accumulation of all powers … in the same hands, whether of one, a few, or many (is) the very definition of tyranny.”
I think of a constitution as a way to prevent our government from going into chaos by establishing a set of rules that are fair and reasonable for everyone. A constitution can also strengthen the weaknesses of problems that our country faces and establish promises that will make it a better place. Alexander Hamilton also states that the necessity of a constitution as “the point at the examination of which we are now arrived.” (The Federalist Papers
Golden Ages are periods in a civilization where culture, art, literature, economic stability, and often scientific discovery and advancement thrive. The Golden Ages of Athens, Han China, and India were marked by cultural and economic dominance of those respective cultures. All three Civilizations were able to influence regions far away from their borders through trade, and aspects of their cultures inspired the culture of neighboring peoples. The standard of living amongst all three civilizations was also notably high. However, the development of technology played a more crucial role for the Golden Ages of Han China and India, while in Athens dominance was mostly achieved through political control and Athens becoming the most important voice
Under the Articles, The power of government was very weak. Every state wanted to gain more power and benefits. So, government did not have executive, no judiciary authorities, no army, and even no chance to gain taxation. “The accumulation of all powers… in the same hands, whether one, a few, or many… may be justly pronounced the very definition of tyranny. ”-James Madison. Fifty-five delegates, from the thirteen states, met in Philadelphia in May of 1787 to discuss and revise the Articles of Confederation. The chief executive and the representatives worked to create a frame for what is now our Constitution. The Constitution guarded against tyranny in four ways; Federalism that creates a State and Federal government, Separation of Powers that gives equal power to the three branches, Checks and Balances that create balance in the three branches by checking each other and being checked and the Small States vs the Big States ensures an equal voice for all states no matter what their size.
It describes the rights and responsibilities of the government and of all the states as a federal government. A system whereby several states form a unity but remain independent in internal affairs. Since the Constitution came into force in 1789, it has been amended twenty-seven times to meet the changing needs of the maturing nation which is now very different from the eighteenth-century world in which it was created. The ideals of the Constitution are to form one union from all the states. The states work together as one nation but have independent internal laws.
It outlines a plan of government and provides the structure and functioning of the institutions of governments. Constitutions are expressions of popular sovereignty between the government and the governed. It specifies the powers and limitation of power of the government, as well as the right and privileges of citizens that cannot be affected by the government. Also it specified how citizens are allowed to participate in democratic decision making processes that determines public policies. In some ways, Texas Constitution executes these functions well.

Why was the Constitution a controversial document even as it was being written? Established in 1787 The Constitution was a controversial document because it was a document that could both solve the nation’s hardships and warped the Republican foundation. The Constitution on one hand would give the people a voice and the other would control the nation through a monarchy system. One of the controversies that arose from the creation of the Constitution was the question of management of commerce.

The next system that falls in place is the opposition which is led by the leader of the party or the parties with the second largest number of seats in the lower house.
