What to do: In addition to having a Pap test every two years, according to gynaecologist Dr Elizabeth Farrell, you can also self-examine your genitals so you know what's normal and what isn't. "Examining your vulva and vaginal entrance is important in case of any changes such as the appearance of lumps, lesions, rashes or anything else out of the ordinary," she

Thrombocytopenia is a condition in which the body does not have a normal number of platelets in the blood. Blood is made up of three major cell types: red blood cells, which carry oxygen throughout the body; white blood cells, which help fight infection; and, platelets, which stick together at the site of a cut or wound to form a clot to stop the bleeding. People who have thrombocytopenia don’t have enough platelets to form a blood clot, and so they may bleed excessively when they are cut. (nhlbi.nih.gov, 2013)
Hello class, In order for me to help a patient who has never had a mammogram perform I will have to get familiar with the way a mammogram is perform, otherwise I might get the patient more concerned and misinformed about the procedure. The first thing I will do is explain that a mammogram is an x-ray picture taken of your breast to detect any tumors that might be benign or malign that can be cancerous. This procedure is perform on women who are over the age of 50 and up or women who have any cancer family history. Some physicians might recommend a mammogram to women of any age who might be experiencing any symptoms that might lead to cancer.
Claire will need specialist doctors and nurses to help her operation when the tumour reaches the lower third of the vagina. There are two parts of this particular stage, 3A and 3B, when the cancer reaches 3A it has reached the lower third of the vagina and when the cancer has reached 3B, the tumour has grown through to the pelvic wall or is blocking one or both off
The surgeon will take a hard-to-reach tissue sample during the surgery. o Stereotactic Biopsy: During this process, either CT or MRI is used. The images captured by these devices help the surgeon to determine the exact location of the needle in the targeted tissue from the tumor. o Needle Biopsy: Like other needle biopsies, the surgeon uses a needle to remove the suspicious tissue sample.
Different types of treatment options are available for patients with bladder cancer. There are four types of standard treatment used, which include surgery, radiation, chemotherapy and biologic therapy. Doctor’s recommendation on which treatment is determined by which stage the patient is at. There are also clinical trials in the process, which is a research study that helps improve the current standard treatments.
A speculum was inserted into vagina with no abnormal findings noted. A bimanual exam did not note cystocele. A Q-tip was inserted into the vaginal secretions to lubricate cotton tip, then a small amount to KY jelly was placed on the tip. The Q-tip was then inserted approximately 2 -3 centimeters into the meatus of the urethra. The patient was told to bare down like she was trying to have a bowel movement and hold the muscles tight in buttocks.
Mammograms are optional for women between the ages of 40 to 49 and should be done yearly for women from the ages of 50 to 75. Pap smears should be done every three years, only after the women has had three consecutive normal pap smears results. Pap smears need to be done on women when they start becoming sexual active for preventive measures and to check for human papillomavirus (Shiel, Jr., 2014). Under the affordable care act mammograms and screening for cervical cancer must be covered in full with no cost sharing of the patient (no author, n.d.). One other screening test that should be done is for colorectal cancer, beginning at the age of 50.
Cancer researchers say breast cancers tend to grow more slowly after menopause, making it safe for women to be checked less often as they age. While mammograms are one of the best known tools for early detection of breast cancer, the new guidelines say doctors no longer need to do breast exams during women 's checkups. Dr. Michelle Sahinler, a Grace Health System gynecologist, says women should do a breast self-exam monthly, and their doctor should still do a yearly exam. “I’ve detected a lump in the last year in a patient who ended up having breast cancer,” she says.
Other types of biopsy methods may be used such as wedge or punch biopsy, but these techniques tend to be less accurate. After the biopsy is performed a wide excision should follow. This should encompass a l good margin of healthy tissue. Any further excision will depend on the thickness of the tumor. Depending on the invasive ness of the tumor a lymph node biopsy might be conducted to see if any of the draining lymph nodes were affected (Hodgetts, 2013).
Techniques adopted and preferred techniques: Everyone is not comfortable with the same techniques, hence you need to be clear as to which technique you are comfortable with. Some patients prefer Orthospinology or Blair. Some of them are comfortable with the NUCCA upper cervical
