When you go to college you can either get a certificate, associate or a bachelor 's degree in material engineering (“Materials Science Engineering Majors Guide”). You must have at least bachelor 's and degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program. If you want to have a advanced position then you should get a master 's degree (“Materials Engineer: Job Description, Duties and Requirements”). With a degree in material engineering, you can become either a metallurgy engineer, materials production research, or material consultant. Having a internship is recommended for a better experience and for learning. To be able to graduate and get these degrees in college, you must take tests that you have to pass. You’ll need a passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, the Professional Engineering (PE) exam, Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, pass engineers in training(EITs) and/or the engineer interns(EIs) (Materials Engineer Career Profile).
