Parking Lots
To prepare the report for the parking lot, we will need to gather information and regulations from Madera County. Madera County's regulations will determine how all aspects of the parking lot will be managed. After obtaining the rules and regulations from Madera County, the report will be put together based on the following determinants. The amount of parking spaces within the parking lot will directly correlate to the occupancy of the apartments. The size of the parking lot will be determined based upon the number of parking spaces allotted for the apartments. Handicapped spaces will be based upon the total number of parking spaces available (e.g. 1 handicapped space per 25 parking spaces). The size of the handicap parking spaces will be determined by the regulations put forth by the ADA. The flow of the interior circulation within the parking lot will be important as well. Stop signs, residential parking signs, cross walks, handicapped ramps, curbs, speed

The ADA requirements will be the basis of what types of handicap access the apartment/condo complex will have. Placement of wheelchair ramps will be determined after figuring out specific capacities within the apartments/parking lots. In terms of people with disabilities, access to the apartment complex itself will be available in areas with handicapped parking signs. With Valleys Children's Hospital being in close proximity to the complex, there will be a possibility of sick patients' families staying in the apartments. Because of family lodging and the possibility of patients visiting the apartment complex, there needs to be an easy access entrance for emergency vehicles. In addition to emergency vehicles, there will need to be easy access to the hospital for families. Families will want the ability to have quick and easy access to the hospital in the case of an emergency/other
S4.2 – I thought the building was c1919? I agree this needs to change to 1919 and 1940 is incorrect. S4.3 – what access controls could you use to the wheelchair access – keypad type? Generally, if it is only visitors, then a call point would be sufficient.
Sense streets where flooding the ambulance couldn’t transport patients. Therefore, they had to get helicopters to take patients out the hospital. The helicopters didn’t have a lot of space so they could only transport two, three patients at a time. Since it was a hurricane a lot of employees left the city or couldn’t make it to the hospital due to the storm. Memorial Center had a low number of employees working for an estimate of two thousand patients.
The use of the media is another key to the hospital’s
The hospital would sort the wounded from least to worst injuries and treat the worst injuries and the easiest injuries first. Today, this strategy, known as a triage, is used in millions of hospitals and makes work easier for doctors
Through the community integration services Hudspeth Regional Center seeks to achieve great outcomes for all persons served. The research implies that the transition process has become more accruable and allows the person with a disability to have an interpersonal relationship with their care giver and the community. According to Mooney et al., rural veterans travel farther to VHA hospitals than to non-VHA hospitals because of the 153 VHA hospitals in existence less than 38 of them are located in rural or highly rural areas. Buzza et. al., found three themes that influenced rural veterans ability to obtain VHA healthcare; the first is predictably distance, which is influenced by such things as age, health and functionality. Many elderly and disabled veterans can no longer drive and may not have access to public transportation or people who are willing to drive them such great
California Handicap Parking Regulations Differ From Those in Other States Most property owners in this country agree with the regulations set forth in the Americans With Disability Act or ADA of 1990, as the regulations provide fair, safe and identifiable entrance and exit from buildings and the rooms inside the structures, and their parking lots to people who suffer with some type of disability. Not all properties comply with these rules in the proper manner as of this date, though, and nowhere is this fact more evident than in California. In this state, a citizen has the right to sue the public establishments that do not provide the right signage for California Handicap Parking or CA Handicap Parking along with other ADA signs. 2008 Changes
If the hospital was that close to the school more time would have been wasted by calling in a life star helicopter. The first responders handled this situation in the best way that they could by transporting the victims by ambulance. “Ambulances were already there. Using an ambulance minimizes the movement of the patient calling for a helicopter would take more time. The ambulance was quicker and safer (West).”
Pittsburgh is known to be a very popular place with many people which means there will be a lot of traffic, but where does everyone park? Parking is an ongoing problem for many different cities but Pittsburgh for sure has very limited parking. You are always hunting to find a spot. This would not be as much of a problem unless you were a college student trying to get to class and then you end up ten minutes late since you could not find a spot. College students, such as people from Point Park University, have been complaining about the parking in Pittsburgh and want there to be something done about it.
Some of the residents of the assisted living facility required special equipment such as wheelchairs, oxygen and special medication in order to be evacuated safely, and due to the severity of the high winds and flooding, the residents or staff members couldn’t drive out of the area. Emergency managers should conduct an assessment of their community in order to identify the individuals with special needs
The streets are crowded and the traffic is crazy. Mrs. Hirsch has stated that she “gets stuck in traffic many times because there are not enough roads.” The bad road conditions are becoming worse because the state government is not maintaining them. The Virginia Department of Transportation has not effectively dealt with the roads in Chesterfield county in regards to increasing population. Since more roads have not been built, it is a burden to the residents of Chesterfield county.
There are many reasons for this, one being the small spaces allotted to park in. It’s a lot more fun when the spaces are painted straight instead of slanted. The parking blocks were installed for pure enjoyment. The students have figured out how to drive over them and they realized how fun it is. It is much easier to just drive through the two spaces rather than driving around the row.
Imagine you are running behind schedule due to heavy traffic, but finally arrive onto campus with mere minutes to spare. You avoided road rage to suddenly notice that there is no where you can possibly park. If you have not had the pleasant opportunity to experience such a stressful scenario, then you are very fortunate. However, if you have experienced the hassle of overcrowded parking lots, then you are aware and can relate to the issues of this matter. The campus parking lots are utilized by both faculty, staff, and students for the duration of that day, but by night the lots are as a deserted island inhabited by only those that reside on campus.
Above mentioned newspaper article, is about the disabled people who claimed to be denied the privilege to have enough space on the parking lots. From their side, they claim that they were denied the space, because of their disability. In that case they were discriminated against, because of their disability. Taking into account the side of the management regarding this matter, they claim that they denied the handicapped space because, the space they required was at the CBD. Not that because they were people of that kind.
The concept of accessibility extends to a wide range of facilities that are a part of our everyday usage such as elevators, Braille signage and sound-enabled signals at pedestrian crossings. The overall aim of this concept is to enable people with special requirements to gain access to aspects of everyday life that include transportation, education, employment, housing, entertainment and so on.
