Part Time Job Essay

The job I have chosen is Job 2: Administration – IT field. The requirements for this job are:

• A Matric certificate/NSC pass

• You must be between 18 and 25 years of age

• You get preference if you are previously disadvantaged

• You must be able to read, write and communicate in English

• Must be able to commute to Cape Town central daily

• You must be able to work 3 shifts per day

• You must commit to a 12 month contract

I only qualify for one of the requirements, which is the ability to read, write and communicate in English. I cannot commute to Cape Town central daily, I will not be able to work 3 shifts per day as I am at school, I am not 18-25 years old, I am not previously disadvantaged and have not passed matric yet.

2a) Travel costs: To work: R10 + R8 = R18

This can allow me to take classes to help me get accepted into university to study further, or the skills learnt can open doors to get another full time job. A part time job gives you free time to pursue other options, while earning money.

4.3 Community work will also give me the opportunity to give back to the community, and improve services and infrastructure, but it will not be a viable option for me as I will need a stable income to support myself.

4.4 Entrepreneurship will be a viable option, as it will give me the opportunity to launch my own small business. It will be a way of earning an income to cover my expenses. This will be an option if I can get the backing of an investor who will be interested in my idea in order to give me start up money for my business.

4.5 An informal job would be a temporary option for me. Mowing the lawn, washing cars or walking dogs would enable to me to earn a small income to cover some basic expense. However, in the long run I would need to get a full time job to cover my
