Besides researchers have noted that when women get into leadership and management they bring a different perspective from men ( Maathai, 2006).Women leaders are likely to focus on human development projects. Little is known about women’s political participation in Adi Haqi sub city of Mekelle city, Tgray region, no research has been done in over all women’s political participation wing, even Birikti’s and Mitin’s research focused only on permanent selecting civil service sector not addressing large number of remain sectors and non public service women, non political appointed leaders as well as non members of women association, federation plus women stand committee . It is with this in mind that the study has been designed to fill the gap. 3. To explore the influence of cultural determinants on women’s political participation in Adi Haqi sub city.
4. To assess the influence of gender based electoral violence on women’s political participation in Adi Haqi sub city.
1.6 Scope of the study
This thesis mainly concentrates on the discussion relating to the determinants of women’s political participation only in Adi Haqi sub city.
It has center of attentions no more than on women’s that has age of between 20 and 64.
The thesis put in to practice from March up to February.
1.7 Significance of the Study
It is hoped that the findings of this study will have both theoretical and practical implications for the future studies on women and politics in the country.
