The presidential election in 2016 has definitely been one to remember. A woman won a nomination and Donald Trump became the presidential nominee for the United States of America. Chris Matthews, who is a political commentator, wrote a book titled Hardball: How Politics is Played Told by One Who Knows the Game. This book lists several maxims, or rule of conduct, that he believes politicians use the most. A few of them seem obvious, like positioning or keeping your enemies in front of you. However, others seem confusing until you understand that all politicians are the same, despite what they are telling you. The third maxim is his book, but the first one I chose to analyze, is the concept that “it is better to receive than to give.”
In the Progressive Era, there were many problems that the American people faced. America was broken, unjust, and cruel during that era. The people became acocomuomed to the corruption, horrible living conditions, and terrible working and safety conditions. The vast number of problems; however, were solved by what we call-- muckrakers, who then with the help of others came to bring about a new laws.
During the late 1800s, there were many problems with social life, the economy, and politics. Immigrants moving to America was a big cause that led to Progressive reforms. Reforms had become necessary and were made known by many Muckrakers, or progressive reformers. The president, Theodore Roosevelt, decided government had to be changed from laissez-faire because of the problems without the government's involvement in the economy. The social, political, and economical changes by those known as muckrakers would allow America to become a great reformed nation.
The Nazi Party was revered and feared because they were able to exploit people’s fears. The Nazi party existed before the rise of Hitler, but they were a small and virtually unnoticeable party. The entire world was hit by an economic depression in the early 1930s and Germany was not immune. The people of the country were angry and impatient and feared that their parliament was too weak to rectify the economic situation.
“Bang,”all the lights went out on Maple Street. Everyone agreed to walk downtown to the police station. Until a boy named Tommy said’’ Maybe they don’t want us to leave here’’.All of a sudden everyone turn around and looks at Les Goodman while he tries to start his car but it wouldn’t start. After
Early the next morning as the sun was coming up, a freight train heading from Folsom passed by the robbery scene. A man was seen about 100 yards from the train, waving his hat on the end of his gun, as a signal. When the train was stopped and the conductor and brakeman approached Blackjack, but then Blackjack drew a gun on them. The two said we only came to help but then Thomas said no boys I am done take me in. They cared Tom to the caboose and headed to
The Republican Party conflict all started out after the War of 1812 was over. The leaders of the republican party are both James Madison and Thomas Jefferson. Their main role was to support the boundaries on the power of the national government and a powerful clarification of the U.S constitution. They also held the destiny of the dominion changed into depending on maintaining an agrarian society. Thomas Jefferson and James Madison also sustained France. In 1800, Jefferson was elected president after an unpleasant political campaign towards Adams. For the first time, strength become transferred peacefully from one party to another.
Some changes in party polarization in Congress over the last several decades are the party division between Republicans and Democrats as having widened over the last several decades, leading to greater partisanship. What caused this change was increasing homogeneous districts and increasing alignment between ideology and partisanship among voters. I feel this can be good because the original congress was just one and if you did not agree with this opinion you could not do anything about it. Now at least you can fall under a category which is Republican or Democrat. In fact, I believe there should be more than just two parties because I know most people like some of the ideologies from Democrats (such as being more liberal) but they also like
Jerry Sandusky was an assistant football coach at Penn State University from 1969 until his retirement in 1999. He was well respected and even founded a charity organization for disadvantaged youth. “Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do” (Pele qtd. In Soccerlens). Countless people have done amazing things through perseverance. Sonny was an average boy in a mining town, but he started building rockets and learned a valuable life lesson. Through perseverance, you can accomplish your dreams. This theme is shown in the memoir October Sky, and is seen in topics such as, Sonny’s pursuit of education, his rockets, and his relationship with his father.
Though not all of these athletes were football players and not all were being defended by Datsopoulos for sexual assault, the team had a history of it. In 2010, four football player allegedly raped a drunk student and in 2011, another three sexually assaulted two female students, and none of the football players were prosecuted in either case (Krakauer 8). Beau himself was a repeat offender, having assaulted Hilary McLaughlin in 2008 when she was visiting her friend in Missoula (Krakauer 167-168). People were very quick to dismiss Allison’s rape as a one time thing, a “mistake” that a kind young man made, but the discovery of Hilary changed that for many. People looked at the situation less like a one-time mistake by a beloved young man and more as the serious situation is was and the danger of letting a serial rapist
Throughout the Progressive Era, there were many thoughts and ideas on ways that the federal government could change how the system worked. Almost everyone agreed change was necessary within the government to further regulate business growth, ensure political and economic rights, and the way that the federal government should address social problems. That said, during this time the country was also divided regarding how to implement such changes. Looking back, all Americans can be placed in one of two groups, known as either conservatives and radicals, but during this time period there were big controversial differences between two specific groups; the conservatives and the radicals. This was a time period of major advancement in technology
The jock driving got back up and tried to punch him but instead of hurting whatever was on top of the car he broke his own [hand. Finally the person with white and blue striped mc hammer pants looked down and they realized that it wasn 't a person. They didn 't know what it was. IT looked like a clown on half of his face and just pure muscle on the other. IT showed them his fist and claws sharp as machetes came out and he started killing them one by one. Blood and more blood kept splatting. After everyone was dead IT walked away and the pitch black hands pulled the car into the earth. That was the last time the college kids were seen.

In his Farewell Address, George Washington warned Americans about the effects of political polarization, saying,“One of the expedients of party to acquire influence, within particular districts, is to misrepresent the opinions and aims of other districts.” Polarization is the division into two sharply contrasting groups or sets of opinions or beliefs. The political gap between Democrats and Republicans has been a growing problem but has seemed to get increasingly worse in recent years. Although the two-party system can help create balance within
