Previously, I traveled down to Delaware Technical Community College to attend a leadership conference involving The Special Olympics of Delaware. I have recently applied to attend this year's New Castle County Vo Tech's Unity Day with other high schools in the district, and another Fall Leadership Conference in Dover, Delaware. Currently, I am the Captain for St. George’s Junior Varsity Volleyball team. This leadership opportunity helps me take charge of my team and guide them to success in the sport. My knowledge from previously playing, and my responsibility on the court helped push me to this position.

Young Elana’s dream was to be apart of the Olympic Softball team. Elana was a star athlete. She was best at softball, but was still an all- star in other sports. Track and field, soccer, and basketball were some sports she played, other than softball.
Rachel Eaves, 14, is no ordinary girl. She was the only female player and defensive captain on her middle school team, playing as a linebacker and running back. It all started as joke, but soon turned into a reality, breaking the stereotype of football only being a boys’ sport. Rachel started playing football when she was ten.
This was shown last year. With one week left in the season, one of our top player was injured at the conference. I was the next player on the roster, and, after only playing a few varsity tennis matches during the season, was asked to transition from cheerleader to champion and play at the sectional tournament. I stayed after practice every day that week to prepare with one of the assistant coaches. I ended up not only playing well, but
My husband and I coached teams and took them to tournaments everywhere. After I was done my school life I was a part of accreditation committee for BIA schools. I served on this committee for about 44 years until I retired. I still have loved ones who are alive and well today such as my son, cousins, and grandchildren. I wish I were still there with them and with the schools to help them, but maybe after hearing this you will go out and do something for your community.

She was a main part in putting on the cheer camp. Melinda has been the cheer coach for four years. Her favorite part of cheer camp is getting to see all the girls go out in front of the home crowd with smiles on their faces, excited to cheer. Melinda said, “We put on cheer camp because we want to get the girls interested in cheer, and try to help prepare if they want to be on the squad in the future.” When asked if all the hard work put into cheer camp was worth it, she simply stated, “Yes, in future years you’ll see some of these girls cheering, because they had that spark from cheer camp in elementary and middle school.”
After playing softball for eleven years, I injured my back during my junior year high school season. It was my first season officially on the varsity team, therefore my devastated me. Although I was greatly saddened by this, I still stuck with the team. I went to every practice, game, tournament, and team dinner. I kept score at every game and helped my coaches with anything they needed.
The softball team has gave me unforgettable friendships, the ability to play with such inspiring athletes, and has given me skills that I can carry on due to coach Sal. The first year I had started on West High’s softball team was sophomore year. I remember going to the try outs, feeling awkward, due to me not being close to any of the girls since we were twelve and eleven. All the girls that were my age, the ones I was friends with when I was younger, were all on varsity. Since it was my first year back as a Falcon, Sal placed me on JV.
I waited by the dance room door for what felt like hours, waiting to see if I made the varsity cheer team. The feeling of both nervousness and excitement overcame me as the coach walked over to the door to post the numbers of the few who made it. The past nine years of my life I played softball year round when I decided to trade in my bat and helmet for a set of pom-poms and a bow. Making the switch from softball to cheer was a big change, I had neither the skill nor physical capability to do what the sport of cheer incorporated.
I had a small basketball team a couple of my basketball teammates and I coached last year when we were juniors and it was the best experience of my life. I always wanted to help and give back to the community of Honokaa. Parents have just been so pleased with what we’ve done for their kids. It 's always nice to help the up and coming generations and teach them what you 've learn and see them apply it in games because it 's such a big milestone to see that these kids I 'm teaching and helping are taking in what I 've learned and use it for themselves and improve on it
Determination. I had to put this word first in this essay because its the only word that has a big meaning to me and has my whole life. Being determined has done a lot for me in the long run. It had kept my motivations up and going, also has led my life to where it is now. Determination wasn't just planted into my mindset one day.
