My Passion for Writing Writing – it hangs onto my identity. It has always been with me. It seems inescapable. Choosing to do anything apart from this does not only feel wrong and absurd, but impossible. It does not seem as if it is a profession or a hobby or a major, but a feeling. Without it, I am not myself but merely a fraction of who I am. In the more recent years, I have begun to enjoy photography and traveling. I began to follow certain Instagram accounts which inspired me to try and recreate some of the images listed on their feed. Ever since I could remember, I have always loved experiencing other new cultures. The neighborhood I live in is extremely diverse. Constantly, I am begging my neighbors to tell me more about their cultures and way of life. The reason I have chosen Journalism as my major is because it combines my passions of traveling, photography and …show more content…
The four main different fields of journalism are Photo, Print, Broadcast, and Multimedia Journalism. The kind of journalism I am most interested in is Multimedia Journalism. This field is a field which incorporates all of the different fields of journalism. \ Occupants of Multimedia journalism generally have story-telling abilities, just as those in Broadcast Journalism. Those in the field of Multimedia Journalism also work well with technology, just as those in Photo Journalism (“What Are the Different”). Multimedia is defined as “the construction of a story out of more than one medium” (Jacobson 66). This field requires one to be more creative, flexible, and skilled. Multimedia Journalism is a growing profession since there are a variety of different ways the generation of today receives information. This is the field I would like to focus on because my skills align with a Multimedia Journalists qualities. Talking to my advisor, I asked her where one of the best Universities in-state are for Multimedia Journalism. She recommended Chapel
Do you remember in kindergarten when the teacher would ask the class what they wanted to be when they grew up? The answers usually consisted of firemen, doctors, princesses, cowboys, or an astronaut. Then there was always the teacher’s pet who of course said they wanted to be a teacher (typical). Well college is a lot like kindergarten. Your advisor asks you,” what do you want to do with your life after college”, but this time the answers don’t come as easily.
As soon as you understand more about a person, you can be more empathetic and understanding of different cultures. I come from a Hispanic and German background so I have had the chance to enjoy multiple cultures already. Yet, experiencing and learning about new cultures is important to create better more understanding
In my town, Scarsdale, NY never really provides a way to experience diversity. It's a monocultural town which consist of predominately white-jewish kids. This makes me cherish the opportunities that I do have to meet new different people, and experience other cultures. This is one of the main reasons I want to switch coasts of the US. The fact that there is such a cultural discrepancy between the east coast and the west coast is something that is really exciting to me.
There is an old Moorish proverb that reads, “He who does not travel, does not know the value of man.” That quote resonates deep within me because I have a yearning to use my education to empower those in need. In order to do so, I need to see and experience the world outside of the one I am accustomed to. Curiosity is one of the traits that define the person that I am; because of this trait I always ask questions about the world around me and the people I meet. This is one of the driving forces behind my desire to venture outside of the United States to learn a new language and culture.
In an ardent tone, King reminds writers that passion is a necessity. He writes, “The sort of strenuous reading and writing program I advocate—four to six hours a day, every day—will not seem strenuous if you really enjoy doing these things and have an aptitude for them” (150). “When you find something at which you are talented, you do it (whatever it is) until your fingers bleed or your eyes are ready to fall out
The motivation, passion, and the internal will to want to succeed in life has always dwelled within me, so ultimately, all I needed was to find what interest me in life. In the beginning, I found myself staring down the road of becoming a teacher or dental hygienist. At first the idea of becoming a teacher seemed like a prominent, and fulfilling job. I get to convey knowledge to groups of young individuals, I also get to work in a setting with other mature adults who share my passion, and I have the opportunity to work with children; but, ultimately, there was just one main component missing for me, and that was the hands-on aspect. I told myself that I wanted to be involved in a career that is very hands-on.
A person’s hobbies say a lot about them as an individual. It is a universal truth that the people you surround yourself with have a major impact in shaping who you are, and the people that coincide with your interests can either change your life for better or for worse. For the past six years of my life, I have been a part of the fine arts community through band. Being a part of the band program has shaped who I am today as a person in many ways. It is in all parts my identity, interest, and talent, and in three to four months out of the year, it is my life.
I wish I was able to write about something that I enjoy. Since I write a lot for my course/assignments I do have writing assignments that I am most proud of. My 9th grade final research
Diversity has given me a strong determination to face any new challenge confidently. Every move was unique in its own way. I have understood that beneath every culture, people are the same and that each culture presents a new perspective, new life style and a rich learning experience. With this outlook on diversity, I am confident that I can blend with the student community from all over the world. I would focus on human values of the people I meet and endeavor to promote thought
I am fascinated by people and their emotional complexities and journeys. Photography gives me rare access to these things. It gives me the chance to explore and invest in the individuals around me–familiar and not — and to
Whether I now focusing on my strengths or overcoming my weaknesses, the main and most valuable piece overall is I enjoying writing. I love the thought that my words and opinions matter. Moreover, my words and writing may not matter to a huge amount of people or make a difference in the world, but it does make a difference to me. I will continue to grow as a writer; however, I will have struggles and hardships that I will overcome.
It is important to study something in school that you enjoy but that is also useful in the real world. I have always been asked, “what's your major?”. I would answer art history and always got a response like, “what are you going to do with that?”. Most parents and students don’t feel that there is a good foundation from learning Art History. It is often heard from high school and college students (influenced by their parents) that to succeed you must major in science, technology, engineering, or business.
Writing allowed me to be able to release all of my inner thoughts on to a piece of paper. Starting at a young age, I loved writing. I loved that writing allowed me to be able to put all the feelings and thoughts that were flowing through my head onto a piece of paper. Growing up, my love for writing began to fade. All this love that once appeared in my writing, gone.
As I have grown up, I have learned that by being open minded to other cultures means that I can become more educated and expand my experiences. By carrying this mindset with me wherever I go, I can comfortably let my guard down and be willing to have a different perspective on life in general. As well as educate myself on the variety of cultures that make up our population. After reflecting on my past, I observed that I grew up in an enculturated environment.
“Travelling – it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.” – Ibn Battuta. My passion is learning about life through travelling and exploring new things. It excites me when I visit new places, learn about different cultures, and see other people live a life that is different from mine. I just love to travel because it makes me realize that the world is so beautiful and there is so much to admire and treasure.
