“You can get away with murder in this country,” Patsy Ramsey said to gardener, Brian Scott, on the afternoon of October 3, 1995 when O.J. Simpson was found innocent. That date was 14 months before she, too, would be getting away with murder. It was 5:52AM on December 26, 1996 when the Boulder, Colorado police department got a call from Patsy Ramsey, reporting her 6-year-old, pageant winning daughter missing. All that was claimed to be left was an oddly long ransom note demanding $118,000 for the safe return of the child. By analyzing the ransom note, studying the behavior of the suspects and examining further evidence found, and tampered with, one can conclude that the Ramsey family, including Burke, John and Patsy Ramsey, were involved in …show more content…
“I just remember having that sunken feeling like something wasn't right," she says. "If you hear the frantic in her voice as she's speaking to me, where she couldn't even answer my questions, it immediately stopped. What bothered me immensely, it sounded like she said, 'OK, we called the police, now what?'"(Forman and Schmidt). Archuletta got emotional during the interview, saying she was told to never talk about the case until it went to court, but she was never called or interviewed about it again. She says she so badly wanted to be talked to again, saying she could help because she knew something was off about the way Patsy acted during the call. With new technology now, the 911 call recoding was enhanced to try to hear voices that were faintly heard at the end portion of the call, where Patsy thought she hung up the phone, but didn’t. Jim Clemente and Laura Richards visit an enhancement facility, to finally clarify what was said during that time. After enhancement, “we’re not speaking to you,” was heard by a man’s voice, that sounded eerily like John Ramsey using the type of voice that usually would be used in talking to a child. “What did you do? Help me Jesus,” was then heard after by a female voice that could only be Patsy, and finally a smaller voice said, “What DID you find?” (Forman and Schmidt) Which could be the only child in the house, Burke Ramsey. Although this …show more content…
But on the day of December 26, that did not happen. Police never got statements from anyone in the immediate family until almost 5 months later, and by that time the Ramsey family had gotten their hands on police files to help “prepare” for the interviews. Interviews with Fleet and Priscilla White, The Ramsey’s closest friends at the time, showed that John and Patsy were not being as cooperative as they were claiming to be on national news and television. The Whites eventually separated from the Ramseys, claiming that, they were frustrated with the way the investigation was going, nowhere. In “The Case of: JonBenét Ramsey” Clemente and Richards speak about how the District Attorneys Office (DA’s Office) was odd when it came to the grand jury and the actions taken during that time. The grand jury wanted to indict the Ramsey family, but after that decision was made the District Attorney for the JonBenét case, Alex Hunter, said to the public that, “…there is not sufficient evidence to indict the Ramsey family or anyone investigated at this time…” (Hunter, 1999). The Ramsey family was later cleared in 2008 for any involvement in the case by the next Distrcit Attorney, Mary Lacy. By clearing them, the case would forever be
In the controversial court case, the murder of JonBenet Ramsey, many believe the family happens to be the killers; however, the court show take their focus away from the Ramsey family. The neighbors said the Ramsey’s spoiled their children and raised them the best they could, but others say different. The majority of the people that know about this case have their minds set on the parents being the murderers, but there is other evidence that could steer law enforcement away from the family. Evidence was found that night that could show the family did it, but other evidence possibly shows someone else. Since the murder of JonBenet Ramsey, the finding of a ransom note demanding $118,000, random DNA tests, and confession by an individual have
In the note, they specifically ask for $118,000, which is close to the bonus John Ramsey received that year. Another strange thing about the ransom note is that it was 2½ pages long and very detailed, if you think about it a ransom note is usually 2-5 sentences long. Upon their arrival, the Boulder police did a terrible job by not searching the inside of the house right away; only searching for signs of forced entry, which they did not find and letting the Ramsey’s have family and friends over causing the crime scene to be contaminated. Around 1 pm, John and a family friend are asked by a detective to search the house to see if “anything seemed amiss”, which was a huge mistake. Finding his daughter’s body in the basement with her hands tied behind her back, duct tape covering her mouth and a nylon cord around her neck.

Although I do firmly believe that Burke Ramsey assisted in his sisters' murder, I do believe it was most likely unintentional.
Pasty and John Ramsey had the perfect all-American family, until they were involved with the murder of their own daughter. JonBenet was a 6-year-old beauty queen whose body was found in the basement of her Boulder, Colorado home; while the murder still remains unsolved, it is obvious who killed her. This murder investigation still captivates the nation to this day. The Ramsey’s were the definition of a perfect family.
Ultimately, the death of beautiful, young JonBenet Ramsey is a tragic case with an unbearable ending. As JonBenet’s 20-year anniversary is approaching this December, followers of the case will remember the little girl whose life was terribly lost. Today, the case remains open and continues to be refined as new details are
JonBonet, who was named Little Miss Colorado in the mid 90’s , was the daughter of John and Patricia "Patsy" Ramsey. The 6-year-old daughter of a business executive was found slain in the basement of her home hours after her mother discovered a ransom note indicating the girl had been kidnapped according The Record [Bergen County, N.J]. Many crimes go unsolved, because of mistakes created by the officers or investigators at the crime scene such as tampering with evidence, flaws in the legal system, and departments giving up on cases of up to a year. For one thing, it was reported in the article that the crime scene was hopelessly tampered with when the victim’s father, Jon Ramsey, picked up and moved his daughter’s body from the storeroom
Specifically, many people believe Burke Ramsey was responsible for the murder of JonBenet and the Ramsey parents covered it up. This essay will highlight the evidence behind their alleged involvement. To understand how the Ramseys allegedly killed JonBenet, it's important to know what happened to her and the hours leading up to her disappearance. On the morning of December 25, 1996, Mrs. Ramsey found a ransom note demanding $118,000 for the return of her daughter.
Little JonBenét was found dead on Christmas day 1996 in a basement where her father John Ramsey found her corpse. JonBenet’s neck has been strangled along with injuries on her skull. There is no doubt that not only was she murdered and strangled but also molested. What truly has occurred on that day and year was a tragedy and a misunderstanding of what has happened to this little girl is still unsolved until there is more evidence. The murderer of JonBenet could have been anyone yet the fingers were only pointed at the family.
When I looked at the handwriting of the ransom note and the handwriting of Patsy, there are some similarities, within the letters. Any individual can make their handwriting look sloppy, but there will always be similarities. I believe Patsy could have been irritated by something that JonBent could have possibly done, which caused Patsy to hit JonBent with a forceful object that could have caused serious brain damage. Instead of taking JonBent to the hospital she decide to stage a crime sense of a kidnap and murder instead. If Patsy did murder her daughter she got away with the
On the morning of December 26, 1996 John Ramsey discovered the lifeless body of six-year old JonBenet Ramsey in the basement of the family’s home. This was the beginning of an American crime story that remains unsolved to this day, despite the Boulder Police Department processing over fifteen hundred pieces of evidence and interviewing more than one thousand people (Agrawal, 2016). The Ramsey family blamed the Boulder Police Department for their inexperience kidnapping and murder investigations and scrutinized the police for not seeking additional assistance from other law enforcement agencies (Ramsey, 2000). The Boulder Police Department immediately became suspicious that a member of the Ramsey’s family or someone close to them committed
When John Ramsey and his neighbor Fleet White went around the area to see if JonBenet was hiding somewhere, the first place John went was straight to the basement. Which just so happened to be where JonBenet’s body was found, so that right there raised a huge red flag. The reason for that was because by the time Mr. Ramsey had gone downstairs to the basement, it had been a few hours from when everything had started and mysteriously he knew exactly where she would be in the basement? The biggest part of it all was after Mr. Ramsey had found JonBenet, instead of calling for the detectives who were all over his home; he immediately picked JonBenet off the ground and took the duct tape off her mouth. After John Ramsey touched JonBenet, that entire murder scene was now tampered with which makes anything that was found inaccurate seeing how there is now other fingerprints on the body.
John Ramsey’s found his daughter’s body covered with a blanket in the basement of their home. He carried her body upstairs, where someone covered the body with a
Brother Bucke was already jealous of JonBenet because she was receiving all the attention from both parents. For Christmas in 1996, JonBenet received the best present for Christmas. However, according to John and Patsy Ramsey in during an interview with Boulder’s Detectives, Burke was asleep the entire time after Patsy observing the ransom note indicating JonBenet Ramsey had been kidnapped by a foreign group of individuals. (Boulder New, 1999) During the 911 call Patsy Ramsey made to Boulder’s Police Department dispatcher Kim Archuletta; nonetheless, she could hear a child’s voice in the background while speaking with Patsy.
As light spread across the sky, so did the news of her murder. The happy city of Boulder, Colorado turned into a dark city, with all of its eyes turned on the Ramsey family. For years investigators searched the globe for the young girl’s murderer. Everyone around the country
