Throughout the eulogy, Thatcher informs Americans all of the amazing work Reagan did during his presidency and how he is a great person. Using examples of the work Reagan did, Thatcher states acknowledges those ideas in order to keep his legacy alive. Thatcher opens and closes her eulogy by directly addresses it to the American citizens in a warm and proud tone.
Puritan’s harsh beliefs represented the beginning of the Nineteenth Century in the newly colonized America. Their community ruled with an iron fist: unforgiving, pitiless, stern. In The Scarlet Letter, Nathaniel Hawthorne expresses his disagreement with puritan priorities by revealing the hypocrisy widely practiced throughout their community. Hawthorne’s utilization of dim diction aids in the establishment of his scornful tone, while inclusion of symbols and intricate juxtaposition all serve to accentuate the Puritan’s duplicity. All these factors combine to develop a critical tone which rebukes puritan society.

But, what happens when an individual is part of two worlds that have just as many rules? Gloria E. Anzaldúa was a Mexican-American writer and poet who made a major contribution to the fields of cultural, feminist, and queer theory. Anzaldúa identifies as a Chicana and speaks different variations of Spanish, some of which she exhibits in her works.
Rosa Blum is a holocaust survivor and is speaking to us about her time in auschwitz at Odessa College. Rosa Blum came to Odessa College to tell us about her time at auschwitz and what happened during that time when she was only 15 years old. I expected it to be sad and not easy to say and that's exactly what i got from her speech. Mrs. Blum main points was her time as a teen in Auschwitz, she told us that she was very confused on what was happening in the beginning. I bet everyone was confused in this time, nobody knew what was happening or why it was happening, it was very reasonable why she would be scared and confused during that time there.

How does one manipulate one's diction to convince a crowd of unfamiliar people of one's truthfulness? On June 11, 2004 Margaret Thatcher delivered a eulogy at Ronald Reagan's funeral. Her eulogy is directed towards Americans who were not her people, considering she was a former prime minister of Great Britain. As a result, she used emotional, ethical, and rational appeal to win over the audience and gain credibility. When Thatcher mentions her position as a previous prime minister, she is conveying her credibility in order to attempt to appear authoritative.

I attended the speaker broadcast of Wendy Williams here at Panola College on Tuesday, October 24, 2017. Overall I did like the broadcast but there was a few things Wendy said that I disagreed of her speech. One of the things were that she commented something about one of her friends being pregnant while in school. Having a kid during college or in high school shouldn’t and is not an obstacle on your path to graduation or your dreams.
Although when she wrote this it did not connect to many reader but now that immigration is at its highest peak is is bound to be connected to many immigrants as well as Mexican-Americans. For a very long time, the voting rights of the citizens have been a problem in the US. It started out with only men with land being able to vote, and then expanded to white men, and then to all men. However, women were never in the situation, they were disregarded and believed to not be worthy enough to have the same rights as men. They were essentially being treated as property, therefore having no rights. But, in Susan B. Anthony’s speech, she hits upon the point that women are just as righteous as men.
The speech given by Virginia Woolf to a branch of the National Society for Women’s service on January 21, 1931 illustrating what a female writer must go through in order to be successful. Instead of standing before the women and explaining how difficult her journey was, she downplays her experiences and does so in order to convince the women how easy her profession of writing has been. By doing this, she creates a gap between herself and the audience, one that requires the audience to be open-minded and to look at women’s jobs through a different lense. Throughout the essay, she widens the gap, but then closes the gap in order to create common ground with the audience that will help her audience better relate to her ideas.
