How would you feel, how would you feel to be an illegal immigrant? Escaping your own country to avoid the hands of harm or poverty? What would go through your mind everyday? This is what an illegal immigrant has to think about everyday, in fact, there are about 11 million illegal immigrants in America. Our immigration laws makes it hard for these illegal immigrants. Now, there can be multiple negative factors or problems that could be very destructive to these poor immigrants. Therefore, I think that illegal immigrants should have a pathway to citizenship, they could be useful citizens that have bright ideas and boost our economy. Also if we don’t give those immigrants a chance to obtain citizenship, America can manage to rip apart families …show more content…
Charles E. Schumer, Upfront, 2016, “...Our immigration laws threaten to tear apart families…” Charles E. Schumer’s point is that our immigration laws can tear apart families since they want their child to stay in America for a better life than their home country. The following evidence proves my claim as well since it states one reason families can be torn apart. “Undocumented residents should not have a pathway to citizenship and immigration families could just stay in their country legally instead of causing harmful or dangerous acts in the U.S.” But, of course the undocumented residents came here for the sake of their family. In their home country, it could be a drug war, it’s a third-world country or other factors such as possible harm from the environment or disease. The U.S probably does not have any of those possible harms. Anyway, the undocumented immigrant’s family could be ripped apart since the parents of the child probably wants the child to have a safe life or at least a little bit better than their home country. So, the parents could leave their child here for the better of it. The U.S would probably be more safer than the atrocities happening in their country. This is basically one motive of why undocumented immigrants should have a pathway to …show more content…
And the reason they should be accepted into America with citizenship is because there are three factors such as that these undocumented residents can be very useful citizens that can learn various useful skills and ideas. Then, the other two, if undocumented residents were still illegal, we would rip apart families with can lead to emotional problems and even death, and that if we to export all the 11 million undocumented immigrants would have to be exported out of America and our government would have to suffer from expending resources and it can be very expensive for our government. So, this can really damage America and also there are so many other reasons that America can be ruined and other reason that why undocumented residents should be able to enter America and achieve citizenship. Therefore, undocumented immigrants should be able to achieve the pathway to
One important reason that undocumented immigrants should be given a path to citizenship is that it is an American tradition to let other people into our country just like our ancestors did. According to (Upfront Magazine,Charles Schumer,2016) “We need to modernize and fix our immigration system to ensure that the door to America remains as open to future generations as it was to our ancestors.” What Senator Schumer is saying here is that America always let in immigrants and has formed off of immigrants and has also been where people go to be free and have a safe haven not where they get
Our history has been long and largely known for continuously expanding the community of people as Americans to naturalized citizens of all races and ethnicities. Citizenship has never been denied to any children born in the U.S ever since the United States abolished slavery. This long history of who is an American is critical for our successful acceptance of millions of newcomers. We should not betray this value and instead of amending the constitution to eliminate “anchor babies” which is what opponents of birthright citizenship call U.S. citizens, we should assist them in becoming great American citizens to help contribute to the success of our
Birthright Citizenship opens a door for Potential Terrorist that can destroy the United States internally. The children of Terrorist are groomed and raised to hate a certain way of life or idea. If these hate groups get a hold of a Unites States Passport they will have access to the country without questions asked. The children of illegal immigrants are automatically a citizen regardless of their parent’s stature. Accompanying, Republican congressmen believe birthright citizenship is the link to terrorism.
According to a study released last year by the Pew Hispanic Center, as of 2008, 11.9 million illegal immigrants lived in the United States, more than triple the 3.5 million who lived in the country in 1990 (Izumi). Immigration throughout the years has become a major issue in the U.S because of too many immigrants entering the country year after year. The U.S has come to a point whether they should deport the immigrants back to their country. Believe it or not, these immigrants are a big contribution to the U.S. If it wasn’t for them, the U.S economy wouldn’t be where it stands now.
One of the main reasons most of immigrants do not seek citizenship is that the cost of applying to become a citizen is very expensive, which they cannot afford. Whether you are documented or undocumented immigration, you still have to pay for processing your application to obtain citizenship. Immigrants has to have a legal permanent residency in order to qualify to apply for citizenship and even if they are legal permanent resident, the application fees become barrier from being citizen. The cost of citizenship is so expensive for applicants because the immigration is not funded by government. Paul McDaniel, who wrote the article “The Cost of Citizenship is a Barrier for Some Immigrants” argues “the cost of citizenship has become a systemic
They come and have american families, they improve the economy, and this country is a country of immigrants so why not let them stay here. One important reason that undocumented residents should be allowed a pathway to citizenship is that many of them have American families, and tearing them apart and splitting them up would cause serious trauma. According to Senator Charles Shumer, writing in an upfront magazine in 2016, trying to deport undocumented residents rather than providing them with a legal
Some believe that illegal immigrants are the source of protecting and occupying our macro and micro economies today, Illegal immigration is taking a greater and greater toll on the American community while federal and state enforcement allows the problem to develop, local government is also at fault when it rewards law-breakers with access to free taxpayer-funded services. There are certain people who may believe that the U.S should provide illegal immigrants with access to some public services such as health care and education, however, it costs more to sustain the amount of people coming in and also leads to more negative situations versus
“…No human being is illegal…” -Elie Wiesel. This quote is so accurate because no matter our race, we are all people who deserve to choose where we live without having to worry about being an illegal citizen. It is heartbreaking to see what immigrated families have to go through whether they are separated, mistreated, or being unable to be free to live their lives without the worry of being sent back. Like in the book “Enrique’s Journey” that is a true story, the main character Enrique had to face all the struggles of immigration in his country. According to the Pew Research Center, in 2013 438 immigrants were sent back to their country with over half of those immigrants being non-criminals!
Of course, it is possible to disagree with the view that no the family will not be torn apart and instead argue that yes they will be torn apart. However, the weight of the evidence is on the other side. What must be remembered is that all of these 11 million undocumented family will be torn apart if they are not going to be deported. This is fundamentally why undocumented immigrants should get a ‘’ path to citizenship’’
Even worse, illegal immigration brings our country into poverty. All these children coming here for a better future have absolutely nothing! All they know is that their parents might be coming to them one day. What if their parents don’t come? The children grow up and live in poverty.
Illegal immigrants should be allowed to stay in the U.S.A. and become citizens because they are heavy workers, want a better life and most importantly they contribute to the U.S. economy. Immigrants simply want to obtain an opportunity to live and work in this great country. With all this in mind it is clear that they deserve a path to citizenship. Countless people say illegal immigrants are damaging the U.S. economy; however, they are contributing immensely by paying their taxes.
How would you feel if you and your family were denied the opportunity to a better life or had to wait years for one? The immigrants goal is to strive for a better future for themselves and their family. Coming here will help them achieve that goal. You may be thinking why cant they have a good future where they live? In some cases, the country they live in could be poor, not have many schools, is not safe, etc.
Yes, illegal immigrants should be allowed the rights that a citizen has. However, I believe they should only get them if they go through the naturalization process. On the other hand, illegal immigrants today are not able to go through the naturalization process, and that is one reason why I believe that the immigrants should be able to have the same respects, rights, and responsibilities of any other Citizen or legal immigrant. Another reason why illegal immigrants should have U.S citizen rights is the immigrants come to America for different reasons. For example, maybe they were not making enough money to feed their family, or they didn’t have clean water to drink or wash.
Although illegal immigrants do pose some benefits to our country the benefits do not outweigh the negatives. The tax burden that these illegal immigrants is footed by the American taxpayers which can be hurtful to the
Many Americans have mixed views about citizenship for these people. Illegal immigrants should be granted citizenship based on how the person is doing. If they are causing trouble they don't need to be here. If they are working trying to get a check to provide for their family then why not keep them here. It could also help decrease the amount of debt America is in because of the increased tax returns.
