The family of Luis Rodriguez, like many Mexican Americans in the border regions from the 1950’s to the 1960’s, faced much disparity in the social and economic realm of their new homes and communities. Living in the United States, they believed, would allow for growth and opportunities not possible in Mexico. In their quests to lead a better life, the heads of many households had to work hard and long hours in order for the sustainment of their livelihood and in Luis Rodriguez’s case, both of his parents worked long and hard hours. Rodriguez’s parents wanted better for their family, but their journey to Los Angeles would forever change the trajectory of the life they envisioned for their family and, namely, for Luis Rodriguez. Born in El Paso, Texas, the Rodriguez family moved back and forth between the border and the region of Chihuahua, Mexico.
Pinckney had two wives which he probably made very happy and four children who probably adored him. In the end, Pinckney was a hero. He definitely died knowing that he had done something for his country, and hopefully was happy as it all ended. Pinckney was a very admirable man.
First, fishing is his favorite pass time. The whole summer, if he wasn’t watching Sheila, he was fishing. When he gets ready for their date, he puts his fishing supplies in the boat without even thinking about it. He also took a lot of time to learn about fish, like he
Diversity and a wide range of people and ideas is what makes Florida so wonderful. The hispanic group in particular has many people who have completely shaped Florida into what it is now, such as Jose Wejebe. Jose was a Florida fisherman who had his own tv show, “The Spanish Fly” which was very successful. In his free time, he spent time with his children and helping out numerous charities such as Make A Wish, and Hooked A Cure. By inspiring people for his job, and helping people and charities in his free time, Jose is truly an icon, and a perfect example of how everyone needs to be.
This Chapter is basically about how people discriminate immigrants for being different and making connection between the past and the present. Miguel de la Torre, a Hispanic man, compares the typical immigrant life, including his, with Jesus Christ. He claims most Hispanics/Latinos/as whom came to “el Norte” and suffered some type of racism for being “illegal” happen to have a similar life as the one the son of God had. According to Miguel, Jesus today is an immigrant whom escaped his origin land, like most Hispanics, with the only difference that Jesus and his earthly parents left their land for protection, and Hispanics, now a days, leave their origin country for economic/political purposes. Miguel also points out how God decided to place

Miguel Hidalgo When people think of an epic hero, do they think of an epic hero as being only a story-base character or can they be real people? Miguel Hidalgo certainly fits the epic hero exemplar. He has strong enough qualities that can support an answer stating that, real people are able to represent an epic hero. Most people define an epic hero as “brave and noble character in an epic poem, admired for great achievements or affected by grand
When I was young I wasn’t necessarily interested in art, but what I was truly interested in was color. The way color was associated with an emotion: yellow is happy, blue is sad, red is angry. I wanted to know why these colors felt these things. I would paint over my dull uniform to try and feel the same thing the color felt, and would be sent to the office all covered in paint for disrupting the class or mocking the assignment. When you’re young no one listens.

He had the courage to do what his heart told him to do, which was to live in nature, not many others can say they have done the same. Going out in nature and doing stuff like that is what made him happy, leading him to write “I have lived a happy life. Thank the lord.” (199). The only part he cared about was living life on his terms not losing it.
Students are taught perfection in school and assume that it is needed for college. This article has changed my views on college by showing me that it’s okay to fail or mess up. Angel B. Perez, Vice President and Dean of Admission and Financial Aid at Pitzer College, explains that finding imperfections in college applications is like “looking for a needle in a haystack”. He states that failure is applauded and cheers when he reads about “defeat and triumph”. Students strive for perfection to a point where it’s difficult for Perez to find any flaws.
Some view him as a hero whose ideals should be embraced, while others see him as an arrogant, stubborn, and reckless vagabond whose dreams led to his demise. With numerous opinions about who he was, it is up to the reader to choose their ideas of who he was. To me and many others

Eileen Miller said that “Art can permeate the very deepest part of us, where no words exist.” Every person experiences emotion, and for some people these emotions are more prominent than they are for others. A great deal of those emotions are negative and make a person’s day to day life difficult to manage. Art is a beneficial form of stress relief and self-expression for several individuals. Research has shown that art therapy is a reliable and valid therapeutic treatment that reduces depression, improves social anxiety, and assists in treating individuals with many types of phobias.
