The world consists of two types of people, the people who look for inspiration and the people who inspire. Inspiring people are heroes who help those that seem to be facing struggles in their lives. According to Merriam Webster (2013), a hero is a person who despite of their struggles is appreciated for their bravery, achievements, and unique qualities. A hero inspires people who doubt themselves to conquer their fears. Depending on what the hero has done, they may be known as ‘Stars’ or ‘idols’.
He wanted them to not be afraid, and focus on what they where there to do, protect their homes and families that they love so much. All though the soldiers where scared and uncertain, Patton gave them words of encouragement to help them get the job done. General Patton’s speech brings up a lot of ideas that I think are really important. Things like; death, family, freedom, choices, unity, and doing things for the good of man. In his speech he relates these things directly to war.
His relationship with the people as well as the other leaders in his society was one of great respect and admiration. The King would give his own daughter to Turnus and the queen was willing to sacrifice herself for him. By 1857 twelve states in the union had banned alcohol use completely, showing the influential aspect of women in this reform movement. Through their role in the public sphere they began to reform society into the virtuous place they believed it should be. This was the first reform movement in which women had officially stepped outside of the home to take a stand about. In 1973 when this ruling was made, many states restricted and prohibited the practice of abortion. In 1970 "Jane Roe" (Norma McCorvey) filed a lawsuit against the state of Texas which criminalized abortions. Ms Roe claimed the law violated her constitutional right to terminate her pregnancy in a safe environment because she could not afford to travel to a state where it was permitted.
The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak is a very courageous book, it is chock full of courage! It took courage to defy Hitler and other bullies, because usually if you did, you died. Also it took courage for Rudy to jump in the river, for Hans to willingly go to war again, and for Liesel to confront Ilsa about her problems. Courage can be applied today by describing military members, law enforcement, etc. The Book Thief is absolutely full of courage.
