In another world — or maybe in the future of this world — being a pedestrian could be considered a crime. The question is why. When one is allowed to be free outside, and clear their minds, it makes provisions for the access of thought and ideas.

They rely on the act of walking distances to do several things. It may be to attend work. It may be to address the needs of a child, or children. Conduct an inquiry at New York City. The population of New York City is 8,992,908. The population of Charlotte is 1.112 million. Charlotte is approximately twelve times bigger than New York City. Therefore, a person could conclude that there are too many people, and not enough road space for cars. Accordingly, many of the people walk to all of the places they go. Including — but not limited to — work, grocery stores, and more. The government of Fahrenheit 451 did not want to permit citizens of their society to do this. All the time they spent drilling into heads, convincing the residents of their domain
In both the novel and short story, Ray Bradbury explores the theme of conformity. In Fahrenheit 451, this idea of being similar to one another has led to the ban of books, distinguishing what might inspire independent thought. As Captain Beatty explains, “we must all be alike. Not everyone born free and equal…each man the image of every other” (“Fahrenheit” 58). Similarly, in “The Pedestrian,” Mr. Leonard Mead is ostracized for his nonconformity, as he is the only one that still enjoys going on a leisurely walk.
The Pedestrian is a world where there is almost no creativity, when the main character is stopped by the police and tells the robot his profession (writer) the profession is not recognized as legitimate. “Business or profession?" "I guess you'd call me a writer." "No profession," said the police car”. Creativity is not valued in the world of the Pedestrian as it is in Ready Player One.
Whenever I have a big decision I have to make in my life I always go to my parents for their advice and what they think I should do. I find comfort and a sense of relief in the words of wisdom that they have to give me. The citizens of Fahrenheit 451 have the same feelings as me, comfort. In the book Fahrenheit 451, the government figure plays tricks on the citizen’s minds to get them to do what they want. The leaders of the people brainwash the resident's minds, by burning books, having addicting tv shows, shaming people who have their own ideas, and the element of fire.

Criminal behaviour has always been an interest for psychologists, for they could never quite come to a conclusion between nature and nurture. Research concerning this topic has been organized for many years and due to the never ending debate, is still being conducted. I have decided to read and write about this myself, for I was genuinely curious about the matter and wanted to be a part of the research, as I felt responsible to do so. I believe that in order to stop something, it must be discussed and scrutinized. What effects do genes have on criminal behaviour, why do peer pressure and habitat influence a person to commit crimes and are men really more violent than women?
