Since first setting foot on campus a year ago, I have found that Penn has always stood out in my search for the perfect university. Every aspect, from the flexible academics to its urban environment, to the diversity of the student body seems to readily match the setting in which I hope to immerse myself over the next four years.
Academically, I hope to continue pursuing my interests in economics and business, international studies, and French. Unlike many other schools, Penn openly encourages such breadth of study, believing the skill sets developed through different subjects to be universally interdependent and pragmatic in the real world. Through Penn’s one-university system, I would work towards my B.S. in Economics through Wharton while simultaneously taking courses in international studies in the College, and even have the opportunity to hone my accent in France for a semester. In 2012, I would graduate from Penn knowing my education over the past four years helped build my foundation as a better critical thinker who can apply core business and teamwork skills in any field.

I plan to continue my studies in economics outside of the classroom through Penn’s Undergraduate Economics Society both to continue improving my leadership skills and to join the club’s campaign to stimulate interest in economics on campus, an objective of mine at my high school since my junior year. I would also like to take part in editing and writing in the club’s unique International Undergraduate Journal of Economics. To stay active, I hope to join the Men’s Club Tennis at Penn, and I look forward to building on my experience with elementary-age children through the West Philadelphia Tutoring
As a prospective member of the Masters of Arts in History program at Liberty University I hope to accomplish several things. I am currently serving as a high school history teacher and this program will benefit both my students and myself alike in the foreseeable future. This includes reaching the goals of earning my master’s degree which will result in a higher level of professional knowledge in my content area, while increasing my income simultaneously. This is not the only positive factor, Liberty’s program will also contribute directly to growth in regards to my relationship with Jesus Christ.
Your aspirations may seem at far reach when you are trying to juggle life’s responsibilities. Throwing another ball into the mix of obligations, such as your Penn Foster course, may be overwhelming. Experience has taught me that by having a daily agenda, it is possible to pursue an online degree while working, connecting with family, and partaking in leisurely activities. A little organization allows you to manage your time and relish in the moments that bring fulfillment to your life. I hope that my recommendations give you the guidance and inspiration you need.
My name is Xavier Lira and I am a devoted, empathetic individual who has developed an earnest passion for helping others. I am the son of two hardworking immigrant parents who sacrificed the life they knew in Mexico with the hope of a better tomorrow for their children. I am the son of my softhearted mother and resilient father who taught me the importance of appreciating life and pursuing happiness. I was raised to use my morality as a better judgment and taught to be grateful for the life I was blessed with, especially when times were difficult. This lesson was mainly demonstrated to me when my family and I did not have a place to call home after nearly losing my father in a work-related accident.
The University of Miami offers many selective majors and minors for students. I am eager to start a new chapter and gain many opportunities, and experiences with a high-level education from the University of Miami. The reason I want to transfer to the University is because it’s time for me to move on to a bigger environment. Furthermore, I would like to participate in the most honorable athletic programs in the country. I believe the culture at Miami would be a good fit for me because of the diverse student body on campus.
The heart of New York City is New York University. By joining the network of NYU, I will be able to study at an institution that has a long tradition of academic excellence among private universities in the United States. Additionally, I will be able to be part of an internationally recognized learning network with locations all across the globe. It would be a pleasure to study at a globally recognized university. A friend of mine who is a recent graduate from NYU College of Nursing has praised the program and conveyed to me a very positive experience.
Students from across the state and around the globe with a variety of academic interests live, learn, and grow together at Ohio State University. This diversity, in combination with the breadth of coursework offered at Ohio State, will prepare me well for my future. However, I’d also like to be a part of smaller community like the Engineering House Learning Community at OSU. I see the Learning Community as a place to call home where we all have similar interests, goals and support one another as we transition to college life.
At some point between my graduation from the University of Kansas in 2011, and the opening of my graduate career at Arizona State University, I began to realize that the great majority of the literature which resonated strongest with me came directly from or was somehow closely affiliated with the modernist period. It was this dawning recognition which led me to ASU in 2013, as my awareness of the period’s impact on my life began to gel, an awareness that recognized the coherent progression from a youthful interest in Rex Stout, to a teenage one in William Faulkner and Virginia Woolf, to an adult passion for Ezra Pound and his mystifying Cantos. With this recognition came an urgent need, a demand to understand the draw of works from this period and to find a way to share the excitement about language which I experienced in reading them with others. My master’s degree study at ASU provided me with the tools and opportunities for beginning to tackle these concerns. I worked extensively with Gregory Castle on projects in the field of modernism, developing from a relationship established in a course on aesthetic theory in my second semester.
Thank you for taking the time to consider my application for the doctoral program at Florida Atlantic University. My interest in education began at a young age out of necessity. My upbringing was humble, and I was fortunate to have a healthy environment conducive to my education. However, that was the extent of my parents’ support.
I have always retained a keen passion in learning about medicine and dreamed about becoming a pediatrician. As I learned more about NYU, I fell more in love with the university, aspiring to one day step into the halls of the school and make my mark. I believe it was the perfect place for me to start my pre-medical studies into one day becoming a doctor. When I first ventured in and around NYU in New York City, my eyes sparkled at the marvel of the campus. It is not one's typical campus.
New York University specifically interests me because of the profound sense of unity within its diverse urban campus in New York City. The unique backgrounds of its community members creates a compelling dynamic in and out of the classroom experience. When searching for where I wanted to spend the next years of my life after I graduate, I never encountered an atmosphere so invigorating and so impassioned as NYU. I could want nothing more than to one day call myself a part of this motivational community, building relationships with people who share my passion for helping others and who will both value my talents as well as challenge me to grow. I particularly grew fond of the economics program as it is recognized as one of the best in the world
Moreover, the institution’s status of nonprofit and nonsectarian screams that the school prioritizes its diverse students over money. Majoring History in the College of Arts and Science will elevate my knowledge in history and my interest in pre-law. Especially, the College of Arts and
Like my peers, I am in the process of formulating my future. My interdisciplinary interests of history, business, environmental sciences and mathematics transformed into a fascination with their intersection in practical urban planning, real estate, and business applications. Academic competitiveness has evolved into striving to combine business’ cutting-edge discoveries with entrepreneurial management tactics, to promote promising products to markets. The aspiration to integrate an educational background in environmental science comes from a longstanding family background in real estate finance, and a related series of NYU classes where I explored how I can play a significant role in supporting environmental research as a venture capitalist. My educational history has taught me that I thrive in small, interactive classes, with attentive classmates and consistent interface with dedicated teachers, who
As a youngster, I spent many summers visiting my parents’ home country of Ecuador. While my parents’ beloved homeland was full of beautiful vistas, fantastic people and amazing food, I also realized very early that Ecuador lacked many of the financial resources I grew up accustomed to as an American. Those summer vacations in Ecuador were the first sparks for a curiosity that I still carry with me today: what roles does economics and money play in our society and in the world in general? To help me answer this question, while applying to colleges, I researched and focused on schools that had the best programs in economics and finance. As a senior in high school, I also enrolled in the Summer Scholars program at Pace University, where I worked with their business program.
From leading a student-run organization, which specializes in tutoring less privileged children to travelling alone to France to improve my French proficiency, community service and international travel have always been a major part of my activities outside my academic interest in Economics. But it was only after reading Wharton student, Theodore Caputi’s article, “Every College Student Should Try This”, on The Huffington Post that I was inspired to integrate my passion for service and travelling with my academic interests in research and applied learning, in no other place than the best, the Wharton School. In more detail, I would like to apply and practice the Economic theories I learn at Wharton to solve real problems by engaging in college activities and courses in the West Philadelphia community and internationally in other countries. I am interested in becoming an active member of the community by participating in one of the numerous academically-based community service courses. The course is titled,
I was immersed in a disappointment, and feelings of helplessness throughout the freshman year. Fortunately, the second degree option rekindled my extinct passion. Without hesitation, I chose Business Administration as my second major, which was the only option offered by Economic and Management College. Accounting Principles was the first subject that enabled me to gain insights into Accounting, the deeper I got myself involved in this subject, the more I found it fascinating. Also, I have taken inspiration from my internship experience.
