First of all, compared to the olden days, the way people make friends nowadays are so much more complicated. This is because people back then make friends based on board and sincere feeling, friends are treated as siblings. That was the thing about best friends. Like sisters and mothers, they could piss you off and make you cry and break your heart, but in the end, when the chips were down, they were there, making you laugh even in your darkest hours. This is because all the things and humans in the world are not perfect. Social network are things too. Therefore, social networks are also not perfect as theycontain hidden dangers to those who want to make friends on the internet especially teenagers. This can be proved by the statistic of runaway teenagers from home, cyber bullying and thecase of cheating as all these areincreasing over the past few years. For instance, over 52% of young people are reported being cyber bullied and 33% of them reported that their bullies issued online threats. Moreover, a research conducted by UKM shows that 84.1% of the respondents had admitted of running away from home at least once. In fact, one of the elements which cause all these to happen is because of the way the people in this generation make friends. Many of the people nowadays have the opinion in mind that it is good to have many friends in order for them to show off. But, one friend in a lifetime is enough, two is many, three is unnecessary. Friendship needs a certain parallelism of life, a community of thought, and a rivalry of aim. For example, teenagers nowadays like to compete amongst each other to see who has the most friends in Facebook, who has the higher number would think that they are the most popular ones. They are no longer valuing the qualities of a friend but the quantity instead. Most of them misunderstand the meaning of friend.People nowadays can teat someone they just met as a friend and trust them easily without enough consideration. If, unfortunately, the person who they met is a bad guy or a cheater, something unexpected would happen, such as being threatened to ask extra money from parents or influenced by bad behavior such as smoking and gambling. Sometimes the people who you justmet try to make friends with you for the intention of cheating you for

For example, in the third paragraph he writes “It’s weird that I know more about you than I do about actual friends I hang out with in person--” (182). The general meaning of the word friend now has a different meaning. It used to be people that you knew and with who you were familiar and built a connection with were considered your friend.
Friendship is based on mutual respect and trust. When a friendship is betrayed it is one of the worst feelings that people can experience. Friendships that last from childhood through old age are some of the best in the world. Friendships that come about in times of adversity can be even more important as the people suffering the adversity have no one else who understands their situation as well and that creates an incredibly strong bond. When people, who have experienced these types of friendships, are betrayed after having been so close for so long or in extreme circumstances, the betrayal seems all the more horrible.
