This investigation compares and evaluates the possibility of garlic extracts being an alternate choice of antibiotic. Since garlic is affordable to most if not all people and the fact that garlic can be prepared in a variety of simple ways. For example, you can add garlic cloves to your soup and other recipes, boil it up in hot water to make tea or simply eat it either cooked or raw. A common recipe used in China and other parts of Asia in preparation for the cold season is to make garlic wine. This is done by soaking peeled garlic cloves in rice wine for around a month and if one were to catch a cold, the person will need to take a table spoon every night and the symptoms will slowly disappear. To be able to deal with that vast amount of microorganisms and especially the ones that may cause harm to us, a vast variety of antibiotics is needed. Antibiotics is a type of antimicrobial for preventing and treating bacterial infection. The way antibiotics work is by either kill or inhibit the growth or reproduction of the bacteria 9, despite the name, a number antibiotics are also known to be effective against protozoans and fungi. Antibiotics are commonly divided up into different classes, sorted according to their functions, chemical structure and spectrum of activity. The larger the spectrum is, the more types of bacteria the antibiotic is effective against. 10
