“The Lightning Thief” is a current Greek mythology by Rick Riordan. Percy Jackson has the characteristics of a Greek hero because he is, after all, a demigod. He goes on an unknown journey after his mother who is captured, retrieve the master bolt and return the helmet back to Hades. As he goes on a journey to complete a heroic quest while on his way he faced a couple challenges along his way to save the world from a horrendous war. Thus, this shows that Percy Jackson is an archetypal hero because he possesses courage and selflessness. Percy Jackson is courageous because although knowing the consequences of traveling to hell and Olympics, he still went to save his mother, retrieve the master's bolt to Zeus, and the helmet to Hades.
