Evidence: Both stories are very similar so they share many theme concepts. They both have very similar parts of the story. For example, in both stories, the main character fought Medusa. Evidence: The entire theme concept is slightly different too because in the end of Percy Jackson and The Olympians, Percy talks to his father and it gives a feeling that you can not find anywhere else in that store or in the Perseus story. Evidence: In the story Percy Jackson and The Olympians, both Perseus and Percy Jackson have an abnormal life. That gives a different feeling on the story than some of the other hero stories where there life may not be normal, but in a good …show more content…
Percy Jackson and The Olympians is a lot more modern in many ways, but Danaus, Perseus, and The Gorgon is much more original and a lot shorter. Percy Jackson and The Olympians starts the action very abruptly without giving much of a backstory on how his life came to be the way it was or how he was born. While Danaus, Perseus, and The Gorgon told the backstory about the fifty sons and the fifty daughters. Step 7: Write your conclusion paragraph After all of the similarities of the two stories are recognized, neither of the stories are really very different. They both had basically the same plot, and they both ended mostly the same way. Some very big differences were in the story like Percy Jackson was the son of Poseidon while Perseus was the son of Zeus. Also, Percy Jackson met his father while Perseus did not. But there were similar in big ways like they both killed Medusa and they both got supernatural help. Step 8: Edit!! Make sure quotes are cited and you used your punctuation **For the 7-8: You will use the book instead of the movie (This should create deeper
Percy is also brave, smart, and courageous, but he is also strong and caring. Percy’s main objective in the story is to get out of the underworld and stop a Roman vs Greek battle. Some devices used by the author in this story are alliterations, similes, and personifications. Some similarities in these two books are that both main characters need to solve a problem, both need help from
Marjane Satrapi a young girl who lived during the revolution in Iran gives us a glimpse of her life in a comic. The Iranian Revolution of 1978-1979 is also called as the Islamic revolution. There are many things that one can compare the encyclopedia and historic information from what I have read from The Complete Persepolis. As well as the things that differ from the information and from the book.
Even though the Odyssey and percy jackson are very much alike, in the way they show the cyclops the cyclops do have their differences different. Both the odyssey and percy jackson have a similar cyclops. They are both one eyed, courageous, and strong. They are this way so they seem fierce and unapproachable. While they are alike they are slightly different.
The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan is better than The Lost Hero. To begin, The Lightning Thief is better because of the main characters. The book’s main characters consist of Percy Jackson, Grover Underwood, and Annabeth Chase. The main characters in The Lost Hero are Jason Grace, Piper McLean, and Leo Valdez. The Lightning Thief main characters are better because I grew up reading about them and their quests.
Percy Jackson and the lightning thief is about the offspring of poseidon and a mortal, going on a quest with his friends to find Zeus’ missing lightning bolt. The bolt went missing and Percy Jackson is accused of taking it. This is an excellent book that was made into a film. Though the film was good it was very different from the book.
Daniel Aguirre Ms. Tobias English III GT - 6th 12 January 2017 After analyzing both the movie and the novel, I have discovered similarities and differences. Ill try to compare and contrast the two since the movie does not depict the story exactly as how the novel does. Similarities There were still some similarities in the film that tied back to the book. One of the main ones is when Nick walks to Gatsby’s backyard and finds him standing at the edge of his dock reaching out to what was a green light.
Percy Jackson, the main character in The Lightning Thief ,is following the path of the hero in “Hero’s journey” On Percy’s life a teacher has become his mentor. In the Lightning Thief Percy says “But Mr.Brunner expected me to be as good as everybody else, despite the fact that I have dyslexia and attention deficit disorder and I had never made above a C- in my life” In this quote, percy expresses his feelings on how he is frustrated with himself and his teacher. In hero's journey a quote shows about mentors, “Heroes are almost started on their journey by a character who has mastered the laws of the outside world and come back to bestow this wisdom upon them.” That is how The Lightning Thief is compared to hero's journey.
In paragraph one the similarities of the movie and book were covered. An example of the similarities is Odysseus is obsessed with his hair just like how Everett is. In paragraph two I talked about the many differences there are. For example the different time ranges really change some of the events that happened in the Odyssey. Last paragraph was about both similarities and differences of the Odyssey and O Brother,
The first reason why these two narratives are similar is the ultimate destination in each one. In Odysseus’ journey, he seeks to return home to reclaim his kingdom and live with his family. He spent ten years of his life away from his wife and newborn baby during the Trojan War. Then, he spent another ten years on his journey to desperately find a way home. However, it gets interrupted and spoiled by multiple people, one of which is Poseidon, the god of the sea.
Lilly Tran Mr. Sandefur Honors English 10A - 5 20 January 2023 The Hero’s Journey The hero's journey described by author Joseph Campell in his book The Hero With a Thousand Faces talks about the archetypal path that many heroes in myths take to become one. From the departure, the initiation, and the return home, many familiar stories follow the hero's journey. One such story is from the movie The Clash of the Titans which follows the journey of Perseus as he searches for a way to defeat the fearsome Kraken that threatens to destroy humanity.
Percy’s experiences align with the Hero’s Journey because of these three reasons. First, separation happens to Percy for a while. I know this because in the book it says that he has ADHD and dyslexia so that is what makes him separated from the rest of society. Then, the call to adventure happens. I know this because there is a danger that starts them on their journey and the danger is the monsters that come for them.
In the book, The Lightning Thief, Percy Jackson shows great acts of perseverance. A coincidence is that Percy is short for the Greek hero Perseus. Perseus went out of the Underworld, killed the Hydra, and impressed his father. Percy Jackson is probably the most persevere character I've ever read about. He was persevere during his camp game of capture the flag.
Ironically, though their conquests were different and, the different challenges they had to go through. For both characters, their motivation was personal: they were fighting to return or to save the person that they love. Odysseus’ main motivation was to return home to his wife - Penelope, while Percy had to face a more dire quest

Throughout “The Lightning Thief” by Rick Riordan, the main character Percy Jackson grows in many ways. Through application of Joseph Campbell’s Hero Cycle, Percy’s development as a leader over the course of “The Lightning Thief” can be analyzed (Campbell). Percy is born into the hero’s cycle at his natural birth and his call to adventure is the attack by Mrs. Dodds. Percy crosses the threshold, when he leaves Montauk with his mother and Grover and the first trial testing his leadership is on the bus with the furies. Trials exemplifying Percy’s growth include: the furies, Medusa, the Saint Louis Arch, the “Waterland” Waterpark, the Lotus Hotel, Crusty’s Waterbed Palace, and Hades and the Underworld.
