My first class for Employability is quite exciting but at the same time, I feel so nervous. The first thing we do in class is we are divided into ten groups with various nationalities. The point why Ray divides us into the different group is because he wants us to communicate with people from different countries, so we not just stick with person in our country only. Actually, I am not really good in English because it is not my first language so I think it is a good way to get along with other people at the same time can improve my communications. In my group, there are people from Germany, China, Ireland and Spain and myself, from Malaysia. So there are five nationalities in my group. We need to know each other in our group before we introduce …show more content…
Personal branding is the process of creating a recognizable professional name and reputation. It is the combination of how we present ourselves through the various means of communication. For me, the relevant aspect of branding ourselves is it can make clear to us and the other party what I have offer and why that matters to them. The best brands create a special relationship based on intangible qualities that evoke a strong emotional response. Previously I thought branding is only for products or services, but now I know the branding is also can use for promoting ourselves in a way to get a job. For example to get a job we need to know how we can introduce ourselves in order to build trust and recognition. Branding ourselves allows us to easily engage with clients and build trust. This is because of once the clients begin to trust, they will never forget what we have to offer. This is similar to a brand that is easy to remember is easier to find. In a class, I got a task from Ray to brand myself, then I have present to my group. I have been given a piece of paper and marker. Then I draw a scales, on the right side I draw my family while on the left side I draw a calculator and documents. Then I present to my group about my branding. My branding is making it balance. That means I want to balance my life with my own family and also my career. I present myself as a detail-oriented person. Detail oriented person is someone who pays attention to the details and can make a conscious effort to understand causes instead of just the effects. I am major in accounting, it involves a lot of calculation, so I have to make sure, I do well in my job. Ray taught the class members how to present in the best way and he also asks each group to give feedback on the presentation. I got feedback
I have grown as an academic student in college and career readiness, as displayed through my English 101 class. This was my third college class on the campus of Los Angeles Mission College, so I thought I was prepared and ready. Yet in my English 101 class I had to come up with my own prompts for my essays and merely came into class to listen to lectures on the basics of English. This was the first class that the teacher did not give me the rules on what to do for the assignment, I had to come up with it myself. Professor Diaz-Cooper did not hand out How-To papers or grading rubrics - she expected us to know and acquire all this information on our own.
When I first started Dual English Comp I was narrow-minded and stubborn. This course opened up my mind to English but also taught me how to write a successful college essay. Before this course I had no idea which kind of punctuation to use or when to put a comma before but or and. When I look back on my first paper I wrote for English Comp I can definitely see a difference between my first piece of work and one of my last essays I wrote and how much I have improved. My initial goal when I first came into this class was to get an A no matter what.
The teacher will advise the students to think of the warm-up question of “who am I?” 5 minutes 2. Next the teacher will give the students instructions of the lesson for the day. As the student will learn different cultures within their classroom and how they can relate to the cultures.
This semester has been an ongoing challenge for me but has been an enjoyable one and I have not been presented with any impossible tasks. I have never been much of a writer, and during the course of this semester, I 've struggled to meet length requirements on the assigned essays. However, I do understand that not everyone is an excellent writer or even has to enjoy writing to get a good grade in this 1A class. From the start, with the first essay, I pushed myself to do my best and looked to multiple outlets to polish my writing, such as the online tutor, the writing center, the internet and the writer 's handbook.
Learning to read and write was not particularly hard, but it still took a long time before I was proficient doing it. To 6-year-old-me, reading and writing was just a thing grown-ups forced me to do to keep me away from my toys and the TV. I did not have any interest in doing it because it felt like a chore. Every second I spent practicing my reading was a second I spent away from my toys. Letters were not entertaining at all.
Chapter seven begins by explaining what branding is and why it is important. Then explains why brand equity is important and why it can be beneficial to have high brand equity, and lastly explain how brand equity is developed. Branding is basically what a customer feels and think when they see a particular brand. Branding begins with a brand, and includes the name logo, and symbols associated with the organization.
Over the course of this semester, I have learned a lot of different things about writing in English 101. My writing techniques and methods have improved drastically compared to what they used to be, especially my drafting. But other things like my grammar were at a decent level. I have become so much more efficient at writing than I have ever been in the past. With my current drafting process, I write my entire essay, read what I have written and add a little bit more if something comes to mind.
Even though you are in a new country still it's better to know them well and get along with them. As for me I was a quiet person who never talked to any person because I was shy. And being shy can make you lose a lot of opportunities like when i was in a class when a teacher asked a question and had the answer I couldn't raise my hand and answer it. And all the presentation I did with my partner I couldn't present it because I was nervous. Later on I adopted the american way of living.
Whenever I write I always extensively research the topic and write down the important facts, so that I can develop my own explanations. Especially, since I was unfamiliar with the topic about building of your “brand.” it was necessary to dedicate a significant amount of time to understand the concept of a personal brand. Extensive research and preparation has become an asset personally and in the Applied Communication program at National Louis University. Consequently, using this strategy allows me to provide pertinent details and get straight to the point, so readers don’t get bored.
Academic success to me is achieving good grades and understanding the material to get good grades. Academic success also means to have an good attendance. I already get mostly A’s and B’s, but I am not good at staying on top of things. To improve my academic success I will attend class more often, be more organized, pay attention in class, and not procrastinate.
