My family can be defined as a large group of different vibrant personalities. Despite our vibrant and often clashing personalities, we have nothing but love towards one another. Out of my entire family, I admire my dad the most as he always sees the best in people and loves to help others. Unfortunately, my dad 's teenage years were cut short as he had to leave school to support the family when my grandfather got injured. He put his dreams aside, so his sisters wouldn 't have to. My mother had a childhood similar to my dad 's as her father passed early and it led to her stepping up and taking on many responsibilities a child should never have. It 's the hardships that my parents had that shaped me to be the person I am. The difficulties my …show more content…
I chose to enroll in online grade 12 English as I have previously taken grade 11 English online and thoroughly enjoyed the unique style of learning. Online learning attracted me as suitable preparation for academic life at a university as it emphasizes self-regulation. When not at school, I can often be found playing volleyball. Unfortunately, I had an injury this year, preventing me from playing volleyball at a high level. Despite my injury, I have kept my interest alive by continuing to play on the school volleyball team as well as teaching younger kids how to play volleyball. As any sport, volleyball takes up a large chunk of time, moreover, it is definitely the biggest conflict with my academics. Whilst balancing time between school and extracurricular activities, I still find time to pursue my passion of helping others and continue to take opportunities to do so. With my passion for helping others, I recently began volunteering at a local soup kitchen with a group of friends. In addition, I am also extremely passionate regarding mental well-being, consequently, I am currently in the process of creating a club at my school to promote mental well-being whilst providing a space for students to have somebody to talk to. Moreover, I tend to keep myself busy when not at school as I believe it is incredibly important to be a well-rounded …show more content…
With this goal, I plan on attending a university with a program similar to the disciplines of Health Sciences or Medical Sciences. As of now, I am interested in Health Sciences at McMaster University, Health Sciences at the University of Ottawa, and Medical Sciences at Brock University. However, as I am only in grade 11, I still have time to decide what program is best for me. Since becoming a doctor is a difficult and long process, I have set goals for myself this year to become the ideal student for these programs as well as university in general. Some of the goals I have set for myself are creating a method of studying that works for me, developing time management skills, and learning how to study efficiently. The goals I have set for myself are challenging and require a lot of work and effort on my part in order to see these changes. I hope that I can reach these goals through this class and hope to become a better student and a better person by the end of the
Tragedy marred my childhood, I witnessed my two baby brothers die as infants. My mother passed away when I was only 14 years old. And my father died three years later. However, my aunt orphaned us which helped my sister and I obtain an excellent education, which was unusual for women in
You never got behind on your work’” (Ripley, 8). Even though students were surprised about the suspension of sports, the school found that there was a high energy and improvement when it came to lesson plans and student work. The school soon found a “healthy operating balance and no debt” showing the suspension worked, but not everyone
Broken Heritage My heritage isn’t peachy or as amazing as everyone else’s, it’s broken and there isn’t enough tape to put it back together. I had a lot of family around when I was younger, but they all eventually disappeared from my life without leaving a trace. My used to be grandma Tonya was my mom’s mom, but she was the worst of our family. She is the reason we don’t talk to half of my mom’s side of the family anymore.
My goal is to get a B in that class and I am very confident I can achieve that. 3. I think I should be able to handle the workload this semester well. It’s pretty much what I was expecting when I decide to attend college. 4.

“Student athlete,” we all have heard the phrase and for some it might apply, but truly how hard is it to be a student athlete. For years students have complained about homework, due dates, and test because they all claim to not have the time and that is because they go to practice six out of the seven days of the week. According to the University of Penn State, and Travis Vogan, a professor at the University of Iowa, “Recognized that “an athlete’s education options are limited.” Due to daily practices, meetings, workouts, and
I also have been the benefactor of strong parents who influence me tremendously. I am sure that the values that I hold today are the direct result of learning from their example. Cordially, Stephen
Mixed martial artist Urijah Faber stated, “You need enough money to fund your passion. And if you achieve that, and follow your passion with diligence and intelligence, it will ultimately fund you.” For many students, after-school sports are a way to relieve stress caused by everyday life. Some students are part of many sports, others one or none, but all of them understand that sports are beneficial for their mind, as it gives them time to relax. Furthermore, after participating in a sport, many students are less likely to be stressed.
People that I consider essential in my life, people that are there no matter what, people that enrichen my life; when I speak about my family I do not only speak about the people that share the same bloodline as me but the limited amount of people who show those traits. My biological family holds very close ties to one another
They have always encouraged me to do my best and strive for the best, they have always supported my positive decisions, and they have always helped me when I’ve been in trouble. My family has been there for me and each other through thick and thin, and I really love them. Their advice, support, and encouragement have incited me to endeavour for the highest possible achievements. My family is my major influence as they have affected my life from the very start of my life in everything I do.
These extracurricular activities are an essential part of a young student’s future transcript and résumé. Every child is
For this assignment I took the opportunity to observe my interesting family. Most years the weeks spent at my grandparents house just Southeast of Wadena consist of yelling, laughing, made up stories, and lots and lots of eating. The days at grandmas usually go something like this we wake up at a dreadful five A.M., where we make the treck to the kitchen to find most of the adults at the table eating, after that we gear up and head to the stand. A few hours pass and we head back into the warm house. This is normally where the day gets interesting, six hours of confined space with relatives will put anyone on edge.
CHAPTER ONE INTRODUCTION 1.1 Family Traditions: An Introductory Note A discussion of the significance of family traditions in any context, poetry or otherwise, includes a definition of two related terms “family” and “tradition” because both form an integral part of family traditions. The word “family” is difficult to define in simple terms. It is a subjective concept with different meanings that evolves and changes, depending on various factors: cultural, sociological, environmental, and/or economic.
My family’s past experiences also teach me how to live my life the best way possible. For example, my parents did not finish college, so they were not able to obtain lucrative careers. Not finishing or not even going to college can take a toll on your life. If my parents finished college our life would have been more successful financially. Although my parents did not have the best money,
Family Background: I was born on January 11, 1999 in Miami, Florida. I spent most of my early childhood with my grandparents while my parents worked. My grandfather would wake up in the morning to make sure my brother and I went to school safe and by the time we finished there was always a homemade meal waiting for us, it was something I looked forward to. In spite of us having had a language barrier and them no longer being around the influence they instilled on me is tremendous. From them I learned to have the strength to deal with other challenging obstacles life had to offer.
