When I thought about some self-care practices to include into my life during the semester relaxation was the top priority. I tend to not take time out of my day to relax, I am constantly on the go never taking the time to just relax myself; this in turn affects me and my overall wellbeing. Engaging in relaxing self-care activities is a struggle for me due to the fact that I am constantly busy with stuff for school or I’m at work; and personal issues have always been an excuse that leads me to either put off doing these activities. I had felt some pains in my body, but often make an excuse about why I cannot take time to myself to just unwind and feel at ease. I decided to use the day off from class to do two self-care activities that would …show more content…
30th, 2018 I decided to go to Massage envy in Warrington Pa and get a massage that will help me to relax and feel a little less stressed. I choose this activity because know that there are many benefits to massage therapy, not only does it help release stress and some pains that may be felt in the body; it also makes the person feel good. There were some events leading up to my appointment. I woke up that morning and made myself a nice breakfast, I then went on to cleaning my room so that I can have a nice clean space to come back home to after my massage appointment. I went to the massage place at 1pm and got my massage; during my massage, I noticed that my body felt more relaxed. According to Turkeltaub et al (2014), “15-minute seated massage administered to nurses in the workplace reported significantly reduced pain and muscular tension” (pg. 796). I notice that the tension in the upper neck was starting to feel better. I also noticed that my mind at the moment became clear, as if everything out that room did not matter. My mind felt so much at ease. I was at peace for the brief 30 minutes of my massage and my spirit felt free. My spirit became restful and I felt a sense of overwhelming happiness and stress-free
The experiences patients go through are one like no other. They come to, “...express a spiritual realm and a loving presence that some refer to as God…” (Lichfield). During this period they might also come, “into contact with relatives that have been deceased, and at the same time, recalling previous events that occured in one's life” (Lichfield). These experiences have been documented to change people's lives as some go on to new professions and ending marriages as a result of their subconscious experience.
Bending over patients to look in their mouths and perform consideration can likewise lead to back, neck and shoulder soreness or an
When I assist personal care to someone, a number of possible risk factors are applying, e.g. I can expect risks to my health sourced in manual handling (like lifting, transferring etc.), clinical hygiene, materials and equipment, challenging behavior, or I might get infections from the individual. During different kind of twisting, bending, reaching moves, or by exerting high or unexpected forces different muscle groups around my neck, shoulders and back can be injured, or hurt. So, to sum up, I consider providing support with personal hygiene routines – such as shaving, showering or toileting – to people who are not capable to do these tasks alone has a high risk factor associated mainly with musculoskeletal injuries. The source of these
I realised that I would live to see another day and suddenly, the invisible weight that had been hovering over my shoulders seemed to float away. My heart settled down into
Is it like the feeling you get when you walk into Disney World, for the first time (or for the first time on one visit) and your eyes get HUGE when you look down Main Street to Cinderella's Castle and you realize that you're standing in the most magical place on the planet? It doesn't matter if you are 5 years old, 60 or 102; that feeling is there and it is a wonder to comprehend. The thing is, there aren't any magical answers, there are just tried and true, scientifically proven reasons as to why, when you step into a hot tub at the end of a long day, that you are able to release all of the days worries and tensions.
I finally accepted the fact that we were moving by the action in itself and I did not fall apart. Upon accepting this move, God gave me the strength I needed to make it through this transition in my life. There was no doubt it would take a long time for me to fully recover, but now I knew I would have the strength to make this
In my opinion this visit was eventful. I was given the opportunity to perform massage, PROM stretching in all planes, along with resistance on a lady’s right arm which she had rotator cuff surgery performed in January. I also begun my case study on a woman that I plan to work with and hopefully progress over the next six weeks of my

Week 3: Objective 3-Analyze the literature search of a selected topic (Continued). This week I focused my research on obstacles present, in our current healthcare system, which may inhibit the implementation of holistic care practices. Unfortunately, I believe in order to effectively incorporate holistic practices understanding of their importance, in caring for the whole individual, will require a new mind-set from the “top down” within medical facilities.
Kegan says that a strong focus on self-discipline exists in this stage, such as praying, meditation and fasting. Illumination: An increased connection with others. “A deeper, more prolonged awareness of light, or greater reality, or God.” The person in this stage regarding the mystical theory is said to experience pleasure/satisfaction because they reached illumination, however, Underhill states that “pleasure or satisfaction must be abandoned if the individual is to continue the self-transcendent journey.”
Person Centred Care and the Older Adult Is a person centred care approach really that important when it comes to nursing an older person? The answer is simply, yes. Older people are susceptible to a range of vulnerabilities and threats to their personal identity. This essay sets out to prove how meaningful and imperative it is for nurses to provide the elderly with individualised patient care. Divided up into two sections, the first will include a discussion on how patient centred care immensely benefits an older adult by improving their experience while being looked after and taken care of.
Self-care activities to prevent reoccurrence of symptoms, as well as, when to contact provider or return to clinic were
Ever since then, I started to surround myself with loving people, and consequently, my life became much brighter. I was anxiety free, I felt a lot more happy, and I felt like my faith grew stronger than ever. Relationships with people who are connected to the body of Christ encourage me to seek His light. I am convicted that APU has a strong Christian community filled with great people that I know would make me a better servant of
In a study titled ‘Music as an Aid For Postoperative Recovery in Adults’, performed on hospital patients, groups were subject to music therapy before, during, and after surgery. Across seven thousand patients, music decreased the patients’ stress and pain the majority of the time. Stress and pain levels even reduced during surgery (The Lancet). Music therapy involves other factors besides music, but simply attempting to boost one’s mood while listening to music can have a dramatic affect. Another experiment on the effects of music on stress was done by Yuna Ferguson and Kennon Sheldon.
