“Sometimes the things that make us grow personally cannot be found in books nor are they taught in schools. What makes strong, makes us better people are the experiences that we encounter in life. Whether they are made up of happy thoughts or bad and horrible incidents, still they teach valuable lessons in life.” - Unknown One of my favorite quotes. A quote I by, though I don’t know who said it I do know I am a person of personal experiences. I agree solely with the statement experiences help shape who we are as people. Bad or good they are big teachers. My beliefs on the matter is what led me to online schooling. I personally believe that school does not teach life, experience does. I am not implying that education isn’t important because …show more content…
I truly feel free to express myself my self without any dress codes, guidelines and certain time schedules. Or physical body telling me how to do something. I know how to follow rules, however I would consider myself a person that is uncontrolled, and as you can imagine that has caused issues in the past. This way is better because it limits room for trouble. I have been considered a ‘troubled student’ in the past, not academic wise but behavioral wise. Which has led me to the experience portion. I have experienced a lot throughout my life, mostly being negative but sometimes the negative things that can occur in life are the ones that help you learn the most. As long as you learn from it and use it to better yourself as a person it was something that happened for a reason. What really led me to where I am now was a was an incident that happened a few years ago. An incident that led me to 40+ days in alternative school. My time there truly was a time of learning and growing. I met so many kids there that were branded as ‘future menaces to society’ as one student told me a guidance counselor had once called him. But deep
Catherine and I will continue to grown in many ways in highschool and beyond. My early years at St. Catherine were spent joyfully playing with my friends and becoming closer to my classmates. Some of my favorite memories relate to spending time talking to my friends after school and exploring the campus while at extended care. As I’ve grown older I’ve learned about myself as a person and about what it feels like to be a close community with my classmates and friends. As I’ve grown closer to my classmates I began to realise my own aspirations and goals in life and just how hard I would have to work to achieve
Applying this quote to my own life would mean that those around me will never see me as a changed person but will only see me grow into a more complete version of
The Mindset “Although people may differ in every which way- in their initial talents and aptitudes, interests, or temperaments- everyone can change and grow through application and experience.” Do the people that an individual is surrounded by have an impact on someone developing a growth mindset? For years people have been wondering why people think and act differently from each other. In the article “The Mindsets,” Carol Dweck talks about two different types of mindsets that she has studied for thirty years.
Because of this I grew in a much different way, and I now see that timing is everything. On July 12, I headed to Kilgore College filled with mixed emotions and thoughts because it
“Choose your friends with caution; plan your future with purpose, and frame your life with faith. ”-Thomas S. Monson “Thomas S. Monson is the president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints”(thomasmonson.com). He has been the president since early 2008. He has been in that position for over 7 years. His job 's in the past and present have made him the great leader he is today.
My experience overall is an example of it. I lost many friends, made new ones and learn several new things. Even though those times weren 't the best, I know there are going to be better days in the future. I 'm getting closer to becoming an adult in which I 'll soon be making my own decisions based on where I want to work, where I want to live and what career I want to pursue. Hopefully, the path I choose to take I, give me the chance to accomplish my goals.
“That some achieve great success, is proof to all that others can achieve it as well.” -A. Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln was the man who never told a lie, and he brought great success to our country. He came from nothing, living in the back of the store, where he worked the front counter. Abraham was a self-taught reader and lawyer, and spent hours and worked late into the night to create the best work he could.
Women are allowed to choose whether or not they want to wear pants or dresses(Kwai). Mergler is stating that jobs allow women to choose whether or not they like to wear different types of clothing. Therefore, students should not be restricted while going through school. Also, different types of clothing that may be comfortable for some girls may not fit the dress code.
What is your favorite quote? Why? How can you connect this to your life or issues in your community today? Mark Twain said “The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” For me this quote means a lot to me because it has made me who I am today.
I believe that someone's experiences shape their character into what it is today. Four and a half years ago my life was changed forever when my younger cousin, Jake Talbot, was admitted into Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). He was there for a little over a month, with severe pancreatitis, when during one of his many MRI scans his doctor ordered a CT scan to get a closer look at his pancreas. On May 13th, 2011, Jake was diagnosed with a rare form of Stage 4 Lymphoma. He had cancer in his liver, lungs, and a large one on his pancreas and left arm.
Every person has a unique personality. It is good for students to express themselves because schools should allow everyone to feel comfortable in their own shoes. Schools should not have dress codes unless it has exceeded inappropriateness. Students goals are for other students to express their personality to make them feel comfortable.
Many messages are often hidden within stories, (Ulysses) has certain points that need to be pointed out. Every story has certain themes that can be pulled out but it 's often hard to understand. These certain parts of the story have very important messages that can be learned from. The use of these messages makes these writings a much more valuable reading, since all of the messages can be used and put into your own life in some way. It 's always a good idea to listen to the story, but the main point of readings is to get further knowledge from them.
This clinical experience has really helped me to sharpen my communication skills and realize just how important it is to understand mental health. We are told multiple times in class that mental health issues can be seen on any floor and that is the truth. I’ve seen patients in my older adult clinical on the pulmonary floor suffer from issues that range from anxiety to bipolar disorder and depression. Being able to understand how to approach people that suffer from these types of illnesses, allows us, the nurses, to give the patient the best care that we can. It helps to build a trusting relationship and get to know them on a personal level.
As I began the field of education, I had a firm grasp of what to do and what not to do. The firm grasp I had an idea of was not anything compared to actually being in the field. My ideas of being stern and meticulous went out the window when it came to middle and elementary students. High school I could use some more stern tactics but grades K-8 proved to be more of a grey area to be worked on. I began working harder to make sure that everyone was achieving the same level of teaching.
I have always hated writing about myself, and I always dreaded assignments in school where I had to describe myself. I always wanted to avoid doing these assignments because I did not want to sound narcissistic, or self-absorbed. I dislike people like that now, because I used to be one of those people. It took many lessons learned before I humbled myself; I am still learning to humble myself today with recent experiences I have had. Although I hate to write about myself, I have always liked to reflect on myself.
