A soldier fighting and protecting his country. The guy that has your back. Leadership in a person is where you run an organization with a small as a group. People that show leadership is the people that are in the military when they are in battle and needing to move people through the town under fire. To me, leadership mean being responsible and someone who can manage time really well. A leader can walk their followers to the right path of success. Someone who is in control because of their personality of trustworthiness and always deliberative from the world which is unpredictable. Leadership is the ability of one to organize or lead a group of people. A leader should be respectful, a leader is bound to know what goal is attempted to be reached. My favorite leadership quote is by Chris Hadfield, “Ultimately, leadership is not about glorious crowning acts. It 's about keeping yourself and people around you focused on a goal and motivated to do the best to achieve goals in life, especially when the stakes are high and the consequences matter greatly. It is about laying the groundwork for others ' success, and finally standing back and letting them shine.”
In the words of the late broadcaster Donald McGannon, “Leadership is action, not position.” Leadership is the unification of a group of ordinary peoples to complete extraordinary accomplishments. A leader is not necessarily the person in front of the line, it is the person that stands alongside everyone and helps rise the group to their maximum potential. Leadership cannot be taught, it is learned. A person is not elected a leader, people with strong leadership skills are elected.
Leadership is can mean different things to different people. To me, leadership is more than having a title and subordinates. Leadership is having the courage to make the right choices, engage others in a vision, and empower your subordinates with a shared purpose and to achieve positive impacts. Leadership can also be relational which means it takes teamwork, requires you to be able to work with others in various backgrounds and that may have difference perspectives. Leadership also requires continuous learning, discerned decision making, and savvy communication skills.
What does leadership mean to me? Webster defines leadership as a position as a leader of a group, organization, or of a certain people, but leadership goes much deeper than that. A leader is one who is of honesty, integrity, perseverance, and self-discipline. A leader must first be a follower before he or she is able to lead and be teachable in order to teach. Being teachable is not easy to do, but when you have that leader mentality, you are able to take criticism well.
From my point of view , Leadership has more to it than I can possibly imagine. I define leadership as the art of enabling a group of people get to a specific destination. As a leader your main focus was to enable your followers lead theselves. As i think deeper i realise a person cannot choose to be a leader. I think a lot of the time people take on leadership positions without knowing.
