NARRATIVE Everything was glittering. The sun was just setting and there were varieties of pinks, oranges, yellows, and reds that all faded down to where the sun was hiding behind the Empire State Building. Bright lights from Jumbo Screen ads, and lights from windows shined all around the city, they all danced above. Even though it was late at night, there were even more people walking the streets than there was when I looked out this morning. I closed the trapdoor and climbed off the boxes that I stood on. The room was in complete darkness, and I turned on my flashlight and shone it around the room. I heard a crash coming from somewhere else in the building, and I exited the room and stood …show more content…
A huge maze with many greens and flowers all over it, I looked down at my feet, and a stone path was under my feet. There were birds chirping and they fluttered across the building. I heard a strange noise of a lawnmower fill my ears. Which was weird.. I thought I was alone here. I followed the stone path to the maze, and saw the top of a house over the top. Stepping slowly into the, maze, I could faintly remember my past of loving to go through corn mazes. I followed every corner, and continued straight. The house came closer into view, and so did the noises of the lawn-mower, I kept moving forward until the maze finally came to an end, the house was in full view now. I could finally see the lawnmower moving across the lawn, and it was being dragged around by a young girl, about nineteen years …show more content…
She continued to mow. She probably can’t hear me. “Hello?” I said louder. The lawnmower stopped and the girl tilted her head and stared at me. “Who are you?” The girl said cautiously. I opened my mouth to reply, but she spoke again. “Oh.. wait. He said you would be coming,” she dug her hand into the pocket of her jeans and pulled out a small piece of paper. “He told me to give this to you. If you want your life to be normal again, follow that clue.” I slowly took the folded paper. “Who is he?” The girl just smiling and turned the lawnmower back on. Walking away, I shakily unfolded the paper. Clue one: Find the key by the shimmering pond. What? I looked around, but couldn’t see a pond. I walked back all throughout the maze, and when I got out I could see the shimmering pond. I walked towards it, but stopped in my tracks. Did I honestly want to go back? Back to where I really didn't have much of a life? I crumpled up the note in my hand, and threw it onto the ground. I heard the leaves blowing around and birds singing. A rustle sounded from behind me. “You can’t do that, you know.” The girl from before told me, crossing her arms and narrowing her
At the top of the steps in the hall there was a huge bookcase six shelves tall. I turned on the hall light and
Her voice hard, and rough. “Where am I, who are you?” I whispered, my voice suddenly whittle. Her face tense, practically a statue. “My name is Mara.
I made myself hold back unasked and unanswered questions. I asked her to walk with me. “No one can possible make you
This time I ran to the door to catch what was making that noise, and I hid next to the door. There was a light moving around my front door in circles, like someone had a flashlight, moving it around. I stood sideways at the door, determined to catch whatever was there. When I stood sideways at the door to catch what was in the bushes, I looked through the window on the door -and I saw a whole family.
I bolted upright to see what i could. However, I saw nothing. I could only reason that i'm still dreaming, but as my eyes adjusted, i could see the scene all too clear. I ran to my steps to see clouds of smoke filling my new home. I froze in disbelief, just trying to put together what was happening.
I looked at her confused at what she was saying. I looked at my paper, and I looked back at her. I still didn’t get it. “What did I do wrong?” , I ask.
I began to give up then I felt a switch, so I flicked it. Dull lights brightened the room up a bit, but then the doors closed and a secret entrance in the wall appeared. I got scared, I just wanted to go home to my parents. I started to look around for what I stepped on. It was a dead cat, I saw it and ran to the doors banging on them screaming for help.
Everyone stopped. The girl, standing in the open, held out her hand. 'Oh, look, look, ' she said, trembling.
She still wore her cheap make up and red lipstick, which with all due respect makes her seem a lot older than she really is. Her piercing green eyes looked at me questioningly, waiting for me to respond. I smile again and give her a small wave, indicating that I am who she thinks I am. “Oh right, you don’t speak anymore,” she says with sudden realization. “You’re one of them mute fellars now, right?”
When you turned off the music on your phone, I think you accidentally dialed my number. I'm trying to say that I heard the entire conversation you two had, so I understand why you haven't interacted with me. You were afraid of getting caught again," she said as her voice crackled in between each sentence. Even though she was extremely calm, I knew that she was feeling quite emotional. "I-----" "You love me.
“I saw it happen,” said Angela who suddenly now stood beside me. I didn 't even realize she
I nervously raised my hand. “I... I” she stammered, I was seriously freaked out now. What did I do? “Can I see you in the hall?” Once again I thought my heart was gonna beat out of my chest.
I went home and she was no longer there. I was calling to see if you had seen any signs of her." I gasped, I knew that voice. She was looking for me!
I flew onto the porch which was very relaxing. I went inside and it was exactly what I had ever dreamed of. Everything was so amazing I couldn’t help being inside any longer after I walked around what I thought was the whole house. I started back outside and just laid on the grass which was unbelievably
