I will admit at first when I started writing papers for English 150, I did not feel confident about them. But as I starting writing more paper for many classes I feel that I have improved. I still do not like writing papers, however I do not mind them as much I used to. I find it less hard to brainstorm ideas because of the resources I use. One of the important resources I have discovered throughout the semester is a writing specialist. Because of the student support service program (SSSP) I am in, they provide a writing specialist I can use. Angie has helped me a lot revising my papers and helping me think of ideas. Whenever I don 't have time to go see Angie for assistant, I have my roommate revise my paper just to have someone look
My professor has provided sufficient time in class and at home which has allowed me to put a lot of thought into writing my papers. During the time in class she let us work on our papers, I gave myself a two hour window on my essays to see how much I could type. This helped me learn to focus on paper content and forget about the other distractions in my life. I found that while practicing this, I could formulate my ideas more effectively and, in turn, strengthen my writing.
My feelings toward writing aren 't good nor bad. Writing is something i have had difficulty with in my past. I have no problem brainstorming ideas on what topics to write my assignments on, even if i am given a prompt, but I do have difficulty with sitting down and planning my work. I always find myself getting stuck. So I almost never take the time out to plan out my ideas i come up with.
In my writing at first I with many part of sentence structure and grammar. Trying to not mess up in structure I was unable convey my ideas. Over the course of the semester it has became easier by every essay. My improvement was some not severely, but learning the basic again will help me for all class and other English courses. Writing again was something I slowly was becoming accustomed again as before.
Before this class, I perceived myself as a poor writer. When someone has never been taught the proper way to write a paper, you struggle through college SOC 300 (Dr. Stephen Adair) and hoped to get more out of SOC 478 (Dr. Fumilayo Showers) as you attend classes. I never thought about the process that it took to write any paper before these classes. However, these two professors have been very inspirational toward my writing.
Having my high school at the AP program established under SCNU was always one of my luckiest things happened to me. At here, I was trained to be priorly familiar with the U.S. education system and successful after coming to the U.S. where all the students were supposed to go. In order to be prepared, I was trained to write different kinds of essays, including laboratory report, social science research paper and literature expository writing. I have started to write all these kinds of essays since grade 10, and every writing assignment has gone through the process of outlining, drafting, peer proofreading and editing. At college, my writing style hasn’t really changed, yet, the way I write an essay has changed.
Over the semester both my technical and non-technical writing skills have vastly improved. I can now compose technical documents faster than I could at the beginning of the semester, while also improving the content. The technical writing skills were a big help when
My history as a writer has been a bit of a struggle of slow development. From a young age I had a hard time with spelling and this is still a trouble area for me, even with the help of autocorrect. As I grew in age and as a writer my problematic area became not including enough nitty gritty details. My bad experiences that I recall would always involve the start of writing because I struggle with beginning paragraphs. Also, I tend to use the ending paragraph to just repeat myself, so overall my first and last paragraphs are usually shit.
I have personally improved in writing papers because coming from a background where English was not as important, I had to struggle to learn American English language. In India, I was taught English as my second language and the English I learned in India was British English. British English and American English are two different things because the pronunciation, grammar, and spellings vary. Learning something that you already know and learning something similar in way to something you already know is struggle. I personally wrote so many “Child drafts” like the Anne Lamott mentioned, but I needed a lot of help in shaping my papers
After finishing my AP language class last year, I was brain numb to writing essays. After taking this class, I've rediscovered my love for writing. I felt that in the past, I would simply write papers just to get them finished and didn't take much pride in them. Since I am not writing a paper every week, when we do write papers, I feel like I can take my time on them to make sure what I am saying is coming off exactly the way I want my readers to see it. This skill is helping my develop my own style of writing which is something I constantly strive to be better at.
I 've learned that reading and writing can take me any where I want it to go. I can explore my mind to go anywhere by imagination, by reading and writing. However,My reading and writing experience since I was a kid until now I still having a difficulty. When I was 3 years old my mom started me to learn how to read and write. At first, I 'm having a difficulty to read and write but my mom tried her best to taught me.
Every Moment Counts I hug her knowing that this will be our last. Tears are streaming uncontrollably down my cheeks, staining her shirt. I'm not ready to say goodbye. I don't understand why this is happening. Out all of the 7.28 billion people in the world, why did it have to be her?
Skills such as proper grammar and MLA format still need some adjustment. Even though I have things to improve, I was still able to improve some areas of my writing skills regardless even if it was a small improvement. In the beginning, like
Over the this past semester in freshman composition I have learned how to write a college level paper. Going into this class, I was a little unsure and scared that I wasn’t going to be able to do the things that were required for me to do. As the semester passed I could definitely see a change in my writing. I learned how to use the appropriate punctuation, how to write and refute an argumentation paper, which I believe is my strongest piece of writing and how to research and gather information to write a strong research paper. I knew coming into this class that I was going to struggle with my punctuations, word choice, and the overall flow of the paper.
The comments from my instructor, the online material, my research, the online writing center and comments from other students in the discussion boards have helped me so much to improve my writing skills. In the writing process, the step that I feel I have improved a lot is editing, as I am constantly reading my writings and editing them as I finish them, over and over again before I publish them. The steps in the writing process that I like the most are finding a topic in the Pre-writing step and Drafting. I like having a lot of ideas floating around and think about which idea is the best and the most exciting topic to talk about.
Learning new skills in writing has assisted in so many over ways than just writing for school, it has helped in my career. Writing is such a beneficial trait to hold. I plan to improve day by day. I have so many opportunities available and plan to use to my full
