The quarterback snapped the ball, Amari Cooper made a silent but sound move to the inside and caught the ball for a touchdown. “ Tie game, The Alabama Crimson tide tied the game with 7 seconds to go in the national championship”. Alabama still had to kickoff the ball. Tyrann Mathieu was the return man for LSU. Alabama kicked the ball down the field near the right side of the endzone.
Ever since I was a toddler, I loved sports. Baseball, basketball, it did not matter; I just liked to run. When I was around 4 or 5, I was in the living room watching the Steelers play the Cardinals and saw Santonio Holmes grab a game winning touchdown to win the Superbowl. I was so excited that I jumped up in the air and I told my dad, “Daddy when I grow up I want to play football and I want to score a lot of touchdowns just like 10 does.”
It’s a beautiful day here in Arizona on Super Bowl day. For the fifty-first Super Bowl the Denver Broncos will go face to face against the Indianapolis Colts, and me Michael Tepper reporting for this game. Just an hour ‘til kickoff and down on the field warming up is the star quarterback Andrew Luck, against soon to be hall of fame quarterback, Peyton Manning who was released by Indianapolis just five years ago. Although it was just five months ago today the great Kansas City Royals beat the New York Mets in game six of the World Series, there were almost a million Kansas City Royals fans attended the parade celebrating the great win.
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford was quoted in a recent report by Bleeding Green Nation’s Brandon Lee Gowton saying “I’m just excited to get back out there. I think there are some butterflies in there getting back out on the field knowing that I’m going to take a few hits, take them, get up, and get going again." Bradford’s eagerness to absorb blows was challenged early in the Eagles’ 40-17 preseason victory over the Baltimore Ravens at Lincoln Financial Field. During Philadelphia’s first drive, the Ravens struck the Oklahoma alum twice as nose tackle Brandon Williams exploded into Bradford’s chest, and outside linebacker Terrell Suggs took a perceived dirty shot at the oft-injured quarterback’s knee on a read option.
I 'm in so much pain, I thought to myself with fear that I was severely injured. “Right King Strong, Base right on one-on-one! Ready Break!” The quarterback says with confidence. I push through the agony as I get to the line of scrimmage and get back into a stance.
It was our turn to play defense so I sprinted through the crunchy grass, frosty because of how cold it was. I was in right field and I waited for a ball to get hit to me. On the third batter he hit a high popup right in my direction I got under it with ease and made the catch to end the inning. Now It was my turn to hit there was one man on and nobody out. My heart was pounding as loud as a thousand drums.
As Reis explains in 1882 after 10 years in the theater Cody was challenged to put on a fourth of July celebration at his home town. Cody promised to make it the likes of which no one had seen before including killing a buffalo, riding horses, shooting, and bronco busting. Ten times more people showed up for the event than expected (60-62). Annie Oakley was born in Darke County Ohio. As Bill O’ Neal explains Annie Oakley shot her first squirrel at 8.
The home football team was expected to win on Friday night, through the whole first half they were up 41-0. The coaches warned the players to keep their mind focused on the game until the very end. Ignoring their coaches advice, during halftime they laughed and joked around in the locker room assuming they had already won the game. However, during the second half of the game the visiting team that was down by 41 points came back and tied up the game leaving fans of both teams biting their finger nails in suspense as the two tams battled it out.
I remember its like it was yesterday. Crisp mid October air washing against my skin, fresh dew glistening on the grass, birds singing in the trees around, then hitting me like a freight train, a whistle blew; I then came crashing back to reality;although, luckily enough we had gotten the ball during kick-off. I sprinted into position, Mid-Field as they call it in soccer;also known as the all-around player who swaps from offense to defense at a moments notice. However, at this moment I had freshly stolen the ball back from our opponents ever so cocky lead forward. To easy I thought as I sprinted up the field; the goal I was about to make would determine the season;first place or second.
A Fun Weekend with Austin This weekend my friend Austin and I attended the Bettendorf vs. Pleasant Valley football game as well as just hanging out with some more friends. Before the game started Austin and I chowed down on some delicious burgers and fries whiled we waited eagerly for the game to start. After the first play of the game, Austin and I thought it was going to be a blow out because the Bettendorf kick returner ran it 80 yards to the Pleasant Valley 15 yard-line.
I had that butterfly feeling in my stomach as I was sitting in the front passenger’s seat of my dad’s 2007 pearl Ford F-150, I felt as if I was going into battle…… But I was ready. When I arrived to the stadium it was a very gloomy early April day, rap music was blasting, and the stadium felt like fresh cut grass. I got there I got my try-out number 705, I was excited because my favorite football number is 75, and I thought that that was very lucky.
It was my time it was the beginning of 4th quarter and I was on the side line waiting for the team to line up and finally it was time for kick off. Everything went in slow motion while that ball was in the air I was hoping I was not gonna drop it. The next think you right at the ten yard line that ball was in my hands and whoosh
I can not remember a year where I was as excited for the Vikings season and then this goes and happens. Twenty minutes into practice on Tuesday Teddy Bridgewater took a snap from under center and as he was dropping back to pass he screamed in agony and went down. He suffered some sort of non contact knee injury. Everybody in the building could tell how serious the injury was by the reaction of the players, some cursed, some threw helmets, and some even prayed.
I owe my success to my failures, and I’m very grateful for them. The biggest failure of my life was when I tore my ACL. Without this major blow to my football career, I wouldn’t have had a football career at all. In my trials and tribulations I found myself, like steel that’s been tested in fire.
