In the month of October, I was in attendance for two sporting events. One of these events was a male sporting event and the other was a female sporting event. When attending these events I made sure to analyze all areas of my experience. I paid particular attention to the facilities, the marketing and promotions that I came across along the way, and different details about the crowd during the games. While overall I had a pleasant experience at both events, I did notice some room for improvement which I will discuss later. On October 10, 2015, I was one of the 80,000-plus fans in attendance at the Doak Campbell Stadium for one of the most anticipated games of the college football season: the Miami vs Florida State football game. To begin, parking was not an issue for me. The average cost for a spot in the parking lots in the area around the stadium ranged from $5-$25. A group of friends and I decided to carpool and rather than paying to park, we were able to obtain a free pass into …show more content…
Two of the only things that I could point out that were only minor problems, was the traffic around the venue before the event, and the food prices inside the stadium. I feel like there should have been more patrolmen out trying to tame and organize the overwhelming amount of traffic. My friends and I that carpooled, waited about 20 or 30 minutes at one point waiting in bumper-to-bumper traffic before we parked at the apartment complex and decided to walk. Once we made it out of the jam, everything else went smoothly. And while there were many food choices inside the stadium, I found 90% of it to be extremely overpriced. They had a cheese burger in the stadium that sold for about $8, and a personal pan Pizza Hut pizza around the same price. The football game itself definitely lived up to all the hype that had been built up for months. Florida State came out with the victory,
On Saturday October 10 the then ranked 12th Florida State Seminoles played the Miami (Fl) Hurricanes at the Bobby Bowden Field at Doak Campbell Stadium. A college football rivalry that thousands of fans looks forward to seeing every year. Kick off was at 8:00 PM but fans were encouraged to get to the stadium early because this was a sold out event. Around the Doak Campbell Stadium additional parking was available for fans starting at $30 dollars. I even seen a sign that said parking $70 dollars although it was located conveniently right across the street from the stadium.
This week’s article, “Six Lies about the Marlins Stadiums,” by Elfrink unveils that the Marlins stadium used the taxpayers’ money unwisely. Simply maintaining this stadium costs more than what the Marlins stadium brings in. Thus, the Marlins Stadium has a low gross income, which is very problematic for the taxpayers, since they might be a certain way of using their money for that. According to Jordan Rappaport and Chad Wilkerson in the article, “What Are the Benefits of Hosting a Major League Sports Franchise?”
Many public policy makers have been led to believe that professional sports are a public good, like youth sports activities, or community centers. Yet there is very little evidence to suggest that there are any positive effects produced by professional athletic teams that can’t be produced by other forms of entertainment at a much lower cost. Unlike public entities that are mandated to provide certain service(s) for the public, professional athletic teams provide entertainment with no obligation to fans or the cities in which they play. The numerous players strikes and lock outs are a testament to
The NCAA men’s basketball championship is a showcase sporting event that affords institutions to the ability to showcase the talents of its athletics department, while providing fans with the opportunity to be a part of something larger than themselves. Communities who host NCAA basketball events offer those in the community with a chance to experience, in person, what millions of fans experience in the month of March. March Madness is a compilation of 67 college basketball games, within a two-and-a-half-week period, that takes place in 14 cities around the country, annually. To watch a game, live, can be a once in a lifetime chance for fans, as well as players who participate in the Madness. If a city is given the opportunity to host the
When you walk into the red and blue dome the unique, sweaty smell of the stadium and the roaring sounds of the crowd for some reason, seemed to made you even more excited. It only
The stadium was as packed as a can of sardines, with everyone smashed up against each other and not one seat left open. Many fans relaxed on the lawn just inside the vicinity, watching the game on the big screen while resting on blankets. Tons of people got lost on their way to their seats, the area was so large. Not even Louis and Clark could have found their way around without assistance. Just about everyone had come to see Navy’s last home football game against Southern Methodist University on Saturday at the stadium next to the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.
When you arrive at the show you can see Soldier Field which I guess is cool even though I really don’t like football. However the site will be ruined because of parking being $20 for 4 people and traffic being terrible ,but I guess hearing middle eastern uber drivers yelling at people makes up for that. Entering you’ll probably walk 50ft. until you get inside. The air is usually
Loud noises coming from around the auditorium and there were a lot of people chatting non-stop. As me and my friend walking through the halls to get inside the auditorium, there were posters of The Kong & Shu Project. I was shocked that they were from North Carolina and they got invited to come to Saint Paul, MN to come play for their fans. There were three sections where people can sit which in the left side has barely anyone sitting, in the middle section it was full, and in the right section there are half as many people in the middle section.
The new stadium is a museum where a baseball team happens to play 81 games per year. The vibe is nothing great, however, I’ll always love listening to the Bleacher Creature’s long-standing chant of the roll call in the first inning of every game. As an Orioles fan, I have to say that I was expecting more from the Bronx Bombers. My seats in the upper deck felt too far away from the field, and the food options like the steakhouse were way too fancy for a baseball stadium. 24.
Well not really, the farm had holes in the fence and was in no shape for a 100,000 capacity. The stage was barley getting finished before people started slipping in through the fences. So many people did this that it was to much of a hassle to make them leave, 50,000 to be specific. This left the organizers with some problems, make the concert free or try and force 50,000 people to cough up cash. They went for the former.
It was actually very nice to see all of the people who came to support the football team and wanted so much to see them win, and I know
Have you ever watched the Super Bowl on TV and see that there are so many people filling the seats at the stadium? Well, let me just tell you that for the record, the game was not a very packed area because it did not oversell. The officials were expecting more than 94,000. The actual game had about
I've noticed I've been getting shot gun in Sammy's car pretty often now, and that makes me so happy cuz everyone always beats me to it hahah but anyways no one wanted to go get our table last night and then when we did, 80% of our party wasn't even there! So we literally had to wait like 2 hours to get seated and let me tell you, a BITCH was hungry and cold but it's ok cuz afterwards when I got home I knocked out so quick and probably had the best slumber of my ENTIRE LIFE!!! It's just crazy to think that if they never cancelled the game my day would've been completely
The past few weeks here at the University of Maine at Farmington have been excellent. I had the opportunity to come a week early to try out for the girls soccer team. I didn 't make the team but in retrospect, I think that was the best thing to happen to me. I moved into Dakin on the 24th of August. My roommate there was a sophomore that was here for the field hockey team.
