The Mighty Trojan Marching Band: Garner’s Unsung Talent Written By: Lauryn Gibbs The Mighty Trojan Marching Band marches to a cadence played by the drumline to Friday night football games. At the games, the band plays stand tunes such as the Garner High classic ‘Hey Baby’. During halftime, the band performs their marching show. During third quarter, the band goes on break. At the end of third quarter, the brass performs the crowd favorite, “brass suicides”.
SWOSU intramural football team, “Happy Campers”, competed in the NIRSA Regional Championship in Lincoln, Nebraska this past weekend. The Happy Campers have won the past four SWOSU Flag Football Championships and have gone undefeated all four years. With that record, the Happy Campers had the opportunity to travel to the University of Nebraska to play in the NIRSA Regional Championship which featured around 40 teams. The winner of the NIRSA Regional Championship would advance and have the chance to compete in the National Tournament in Pensacola, Florida. On Saturday, the Happy Campers competed in pool play and played two games.
During the weeks Summer vacation, marching bands practice hours in the sun teaching their freshman the fundamentals of marching. This rigor continue through the marching band season. Around thanksgiving time last year, my grandpa and grandma told my family that we would be going on a trip to the Bahamas. Even better was we were going to the Battle For Atlantis Basketball tournament. This year at the tournament the Wisconsin Badgers were playing. The Wisconsin Badgers are my favorite team. I brought along an autograph ball for the players to sign.
Arriving 15–20 minutes or later is considered to be “on time”. (Rodriguez) Carnival at Rio de Janeiro, is one of the most famous traditions that takes place in Brazil every year. It is celebrated forty days before Easter. The celebration highlights the parade of samba schools. All of them prepared during the year for the parade they dance, dress and build the most beautiful floats for the event and compete to get the title of champions.
This would take place in the month of August and would be for not only students. The purpose of the event is not only to welcome everyone back to school, but to bring many different clienteles to the golf course. By hosting family friendly events, many families will want to spend time there. The plan for the event is to have activities for all ages. Scotch Pines would host a Back to School Bash Tournament.
Students, alumni, families, and fans experience a rush of excitement when NCAA football season starts. The start of the season symbolizes the end of summer and the start of the fall semester. Many gather at tailgating parties to cheer on their favorite team as they compete during an epic gridiron battle. Traditionally beer and other alcoholic beverages have accompanied tailgating events. But since most stadiums have banned alcohol in the past many have chosen to consume large amounts of alcohol before entering the stadium.
I had a pretty relaxed Thanksgiving Break. On Saturday and Sunday all of my friends were either busy or away so I did not have anything have anything to do. I just watched T.V. and chilled out both days. Except on Saturday night the Coronado High School boys were playing their most important game of the year, so my family and went and cheered them on.
I know that 's sounds kind of cheesy, but that was how it was. We played football every recess, we went to each other 's house every other week and we chatted with each other every single day. I cannot recall any other time I experienced so much joy and satisfaction. It was on the warmth of a spring day in March, 2015. After finishing the spring semester at high school, the school gives students a one-week holiday to relax or to go somewhere. A beach trip in the spring is always a good idea for us who live near the sea, but this time I was on the bus with my classmates heading to the airport. The school had organized a Habitat Trip to the Philippines, where my classmates and I decided to go to build houses.
Columbus Day: A Big Fair Day for Students What’s better than no school? No school and riding DART to the fair, of course. Students from across Texas can leave their textbooks behind and venture to the State Fair on Columbus Day, Oct. 10., one of the busiest fair days of the season. From the Kid’s Boardwalk to The Taylor Swift Experience, Columbus Day at the fair offers students a variety of fun entertainment. Students can also watch Nashville-based singer and songwriter Ben Rector headline the Columbus Day concert at 5:30 p.m. as a part of the Texas State Fair’s free concert lineup.
