Two weeks after that I met Johnnie face to face and I couldn 't believe how nice he was. He invited me to his gym to train with him and we trained back that particular day. Today my back double bicep is one of my favorite poses. I had a lot of people that was a major influences on my desire to compete and to never give up when I didn 't place well. I met Rich at the 2000 Capitol of Texas Bodybuilding Championships and we kept in touch via email over the year.
Cheerleading allows me to participate in activities that contribute to worthwhile programs within my community as well. The team participates in the Smiles program that allows downs syndrome kids to cheer with my school team on game nights. I was also able to organize a group to participate in the Susan G Komen Walk for the Cure which carried significant importance to me since my grandmother passed away from breast cancer. These have been outstanding experiences that I might not have been involved with if I was not participating in cheer. When I started cheerleading, I thought it was all about winning the trophy

Following this, she began taking gymnastics lessons and was then asked to join a competitive gymnastics team, which she did for 2 years. She was always excited and ready to learn new things. Out of her three main sports her most favorite sport was basketball. Jordan was not very good in the beginning, but with hard work and the help of her twin sister, Jada, she grew to love the sport and realized there is more to basketball than scoring points. Jordan became a great defensive player. She began playing in third grade for her private school team and for a travel basketball team.
There we were, in Houston Texas, Dejah, Aniya, and I were warming up, practicing handoffs in tent city. We had made it to the Houston Texas AAU National Junior Olympics. It was No Limits Track Club’s second to last day on our eight day trip. It was the most competitive day of them all. It was time for the four by one hundred meter relay.

To my luck, my Mom agreed to find me a gym to join the sport when I was in second grade. Now, for many athletes, this story would continue on to tell about how the sport changed her life by teaching dedication, motivation, character building and leadership skills. Naturally, I would credit my involvement in competitive cheerleading with helping to build all those attributes in myself. However, it was one of my very lowest moments that led me to develop a passion for a professional nursing degree. Six years later
I went in with a negative attitude, but I remember walking out of that gym after every practice having accomplished something new. After a few months my jumps got higher, my stunt group had the highest basket toss, I got a back-tuck. Everything fell into its place, and I finally discovered what I loved most. I am so grateful I never quit after that first practice, cheer has shaped who I am today. I’m now a captain and three year cheerleader at Brighton, 2 year United Spirit Association All-American Athlete, and planning to cheer in college.
The atmosphere of Schoenfeld Campus Gym had been electrifying Thursday afternoon. The Fall Homecoming Pep Rally included numerous activities for Concordia’s sports team to partake in. For example, one “challenge” involved a member of the sports team getting wrapped up in toilet paper, under the pressure of a time clock. When time ran out, whichever individual was wrapped in the most toilet paper (or looked the most like they had just emerged from an Egyptian pyramid) won that game. The CCNY Pep Rally acted as an opportunity for the rest of the student body to become familiar with our famed athletic program, and to mingle with this elite status of the student.
I played well my 8th grade year and wanted to impress the varsity coach. So I attended every camp, workout, and winter practice to hopefully even get his attention. Even if I didn’t perform well I made sure I would always hustle and have a great attitude towards the game. The first day of practice I went and warmed up with the JV squad. In the middle of stretching the varsity coach shouted at me, “Green!
Being an athlete takes raw talent, drive and time management in a busy life. Throughout my career as an athlete at Sutton Memorial high school I have participated in some of the most demanding sports including cross country indoor and outdoor track. Being on these teams for over six years I have had the honor of seeing legends rise and fall. Athletics are important but academics are still crucial to my future, and my secondary education. I have recently been accepted and admitted to Bryant university to enroll in their accounting/ CPA program to complete my interests in business and enable my future career as an accountant.
