I was sitting at my dining room table eating a cold bowl of lucky charms one late Saturday night. I noticed that the rainbow colors from my cereal had drifted into my milk creating a vibrant ray of pinks and greens. That’s when I looked down to see my phone flashing with a message from my dad asking if we could talk now. Instantly, I opened my phone and said that I would be ready in five minutes. I quickly drank up my colorful milk, set my bowl in the sink, and walked up stairs.
It was oddly late for my dad wanting to call, usually he doesn’t call past 8’oclock and it was already ten, I wondered what on earth could be causing him to completely break his sleep patterns seeing how he’s usually in bed by no later than ten thirty. Meagan, my
In Matt McCarthy’s “Nap Time”, he discusses the “most mysterious” of all needs - sleep. McCarthy uses the story of Mike Napoli to introduce this topic. Napoli’s story of his struggle with sleep apnea includes some bizarre elements. Firstly, he cites his “first dream in a decade” that he can actually remember (p. 49).
I woke up at six o’clock in the morning and was too excited to go back to sleep. I really tried to go back to sleep, but my heart rate was too high. I got really bored just lying in my bed, so I decided to go wake up my dad. I walked to my mom and dad’s room and gave my dad a light touch on the back. His response was,” Go Back to bed
Last year, I accidentally turned off my alarm instead of snoozing it, and as a result of that, I woke up at about 11:30 and the phone call to my dad was not a fun
I was on my couch, watching television as the show I was watching went to commercial break. A few commercials in there was one commercial where if you had a specific code on the inside of your box of Fruit Loops you could win the chance to meet Aaron Rodgers. Since Aaron Rodgers was my favorite NFL player I thought it might be a good idea to buy some boxes of that kind of cereal just to see if I would win, so I told my parents about the commercial I saw and said I could buy as many cereal boxes as I wanted as long as I ate all the cereal in each box. Hearing those words from my parents mouths sparked an idea in my head which was, what if I gave cereal to friends for them to eat in the morning, so I could go through cereal boxes faster than if I ate them all by myself.
2 Sleep Deprivation in the Nursing Profession Sleep deprivation is known as a condition of not getting enough sleep that can affect the brain and cognitive functions. "It occurs when a person sleeps for fewer hours than necessary over multiple days or week" (Eanes, 2015). When we think of nurses we are reminded of people who promote the health of others. However, many are unknowingly compromising their own health by working those 12-hour shifts. Many times, its more than 12 hours when they are finally able to go home.
For most of my life, I felt like a stranger to everyone around me, including my family. It shouldn’t have been shocking; I was adopted. I cannot pinpoint the exact moment I knew that, because in a way I always knew. I am an Asian-American from South Korea, and I was brought into this country on August 4th, 1999. My adoptive parents refer to this day as my “Gotcha Day.”
Overworked. That’s the closest word that I could use to describe this week. I feel like this journal is going to be about me just bickering, yet there is some stuff you might want to read about. First of all, I have been sleeping three hours this week because of upcoming midterms, quizzes, and assignments due. I am sleep deprived and mentally drained and as my second year in college I have never had my life drained out of my body like a passing shadow.

Sleep Journal and Reflection Paper Amber Ivy American Public University System Before, during, and after the logging of my sleep journal, I learned an abundance of information about myself in accordance to the dreams I had been having. The last ten days I logged what I was eating, when I went to bed, how many times I woke up during the night, and when I woke up for the day. As soon as I woke up for the day, I wrote as much as I could remember about the dream/ s I had.
I usually hate waking up early for school. I’m probably one of the young writers on this website that still goes to high school but that’s not important. What is important is that I’m not really hating this morning as much. Why? Because my promised day has come, It’s the day I go to my first Gay-straight Alliance leadership summit.
Today's minimum day so we we're dismissed at twelve noon. The squad decided not to go anywhere today as we were going out everyday since last week — going to one's house after another just to have a movie marathon and nap. The first thing I did as I got home from the academy is drop my backpack on a chair in my room. I changed into comfortable clothes and threw my worn clothes in the laundry basket.
However, I hadn’t thrown up yet, so at least something was going my way. When I tried to get up and go downstairs however, my body told me to sit right back down. When I found my phone under my pillow I was surprised to learn that it was already 11:17. As lay there I spotted my summer reading book, The Color of Water, on my bedside table. I had been dreading reading this book since school got out, but I decided to give it a try since I had nothing else to do.
That is an example of bad parenting, your child needs to have a bed time and a schedule, especially at that young of an age. “Children who have irregular bed times are more likely to have behavioral issues than children who have a regular bedtime routine. A survey of 10,00 children showed that irregular bedtimes are linked with difficulties such as hyperactivity, acting out and being emotionally withdrawn. Researchers think inconsistent bedtimes probably affect young children like jet lag.” (npr.org)
In regards to my incomplete overtime forms: I was unaware on how to fill out the revised O.T. forms properly. Like many things that I am not informed of, this being one of them I had to ask for clarification. A few weeks ago from current date I asked my immediate supervisor Francisco Valle (Supervising Radiologic Technologist II) how should I document my pre-shift overtime and my post-shift overtime. My pre-shift overtime is the day prior to my scheduled work day which means I clock in at 11:00 pm. and any overtime worked after my normal works hours are the next day.
So Gavin was having his 13th birthday party soon, and of course his whole “squad” was invited. That night Tatum and I were having a sleepover, throughout the night the boys kept prankcalling us. It was kinda funny, they were trying to use different voices so that we didn’t know it was them. But we knew everytime, we just didn’t tell them.
