Music is something that has always been an important part of my life. Whenever I am feeling a certain way, music helps me express my feelings and process them. Because I am a vocal musician, music weaves its way into almost all aspects of my life. I started singing and dancing at a very young age and fell in love! I don’t think I’ve stopped singing since! The message of vocal music is always embedded in the lyrics, and is therefore more explicit than other music. Music not only has a message, but it tells a clear story that can be pictured through the sounds and voices. Personally, all kinds of music are pleasing and enjoyable to listen to. There are no artists that I can pull apart from others as a favorite. However, it is easy for me to I pick one genre of music that has always been my favorite: Broadway. …show more content…
Since Broadway music is performed live, it is easy to tell the message of the music from the way the actors are interacting with the song. To me, Broadway music is different because it presents both the auditory and visual message of the music. People do not have to imagine the message or a story when listening to Broadway music because it’s right there in front of them. Listeners are able to see the emotion between actors and visualize it very well because of the way Broadway music is presented. The stories told in these songs are always complex and never have a dull moment, which is why I love them so much! Broadway music tells the story of life. There is no way I would be able to select a favorite song or artist because I love the genre so much that it would be impossible! Although I don’t have a clear favorite, there are some Broadway songs that stick out in my mind because they represent parts of my
Just like literature, music tells a story. Songs display thoughts and meaningful words that can help people get through hard times, just like a story can. You can relate yourself to literature and music because the artists and authors can share the same struggles you did. Both authors and artists hide behind their masterpieces, but when you read between the lines you find out their story and their struggle in life. You can always listen to songs and novels when you need advice.
The songs are catchy and heartwarming, have you feel part of the production. Audience members felt the cast’s energetic spirit through their singing and
Clouds began to roll into the small town of Springvale around mid-morning, and the rain followed shortly after. It was easy going at first, but quickly became torrential. The brightness of the morning was consumed by the ravenous appetite of the clouds, turning day to night. This kind of weather was not uncommon for the coastal town during the summer months. Many of the citizens of Springvale relished the constant rain.
The songs in Rodgers and Hammerstein's musicals are memorable. I believe that is why they are still popular today. My family is musically inclined and my sisters and aunt always sing songs from "Cinderella", "The King & I" and "Oklahoma. " I found myself singing along with the actress during "Never Walk Alone."
Personal Statement 1) As an individual I myself had trouble finding the inner leader I have within. Towards the end of my eighth grade year I was given the opportunity to learn about a program called C5LA. After going through the process of the application I was selected for an interview, and ended with a spot in the program. This program focuses on helping students become leaders. This is where I learned everything I know, as well as where I’ve experienced different leadership roles.
They may be different different but the emotions you feel from the songs will stay the same. Music is so powerful and different kinds express themselves in different ways. Cultivated music can make you feel very deeply with all the classical instruments it uses. It is amazing how it can make you feel a certain way without having to say any words. On the other hand, vernacular can make you feel the same thing, but instead it uses words to connect, rather then just instruments.
The songs within the musical is every engaging. The songs are easy to sing along with. The audience becomes engaged in the musical with the cast. The songs create more intimacy and the audience are drawn in more.
I am Julianna Jenkins an outgoing Musical Theater major with a dream to be an entertainment lawyer. I have been going to Appomattox Regional Governors School for 3 years as a Musical Theater Major. One of the reason I fell in love with Greensboro College is because it has a small community and that will give my an opportunity to grow. After meeting some of the Musical Theater students from freshman to senior they all said that they have gotten support from student and teachers at Greensboro. They also said that Greensboro is not a place that you will get lost in the crowd.
Lin-Manuel Miranda's musical "Hamilton," inspired by Alexander Hamilton - one of America's founding fathers - has had a lasting effect on American culture and politics. Combining hip-hop, R&B music and other elements, the show tells Hamilton's tale through vibrant imagery. Lin-Manuel Miranda was deeply affected by his social and cultural environment, creating a musical that captures the aesthetic, political values of its time while reflecting those same cultural traits. Musicals fall within the genres of historical fiction and musical theater, each having their own distinct stylistic, dramatic, and formal characteristics. The musical also gives the audience more to think about with its different viewpoint of “The Wicked Witch” and how she isn’t so wicked which can be taken into the context of our everyday lives with the people around us. In conclusion, The Wizard of Oz and Wicked are both very well known broadway musicals. The Wizard of Oz and Wicked each have their own story, but have the same underlying concept of the fantasy world of Oz and the tale of the Wicked Witches who live in it. There are many similarities and comparisons throughout these musicals many characteristics such as characters, theme, and plot which make these two broadway musicals so
When I first heard about Wicked, I was 14 years old and clueless about the world of musical theatre. It wasn't until the next year when I saw this show live that I had completely been changed for good. As I saw the show just mere months after deciding that I wanted to pursue performance after my O levels, Wicked truly did a number on me. I remember sitting there at the end of act 1 where Elphaba is up in the air belting about how no one is going to stand in her way of chasing her dreams just awestruck during the intermission. I even took my phone out and made a note about how there was truly a difference watching Defying Gravity on a screen and live.
The dialogue and lyrics are straightforward and full of ironic elements, which bring a lot of fun to enjoy. The transition from lines into a song is pretty smooth. For example, when Shrek is “hurt” by what Fiona says and his anger reaches a climax, he naturally starts to sing to express his emotion. In addition, the music, which embraces several styles such as pop, rock and jazz, also add dynamics into the show. So in sum, the writing of the show is appealing.
Music carries each and every one of us to a new awareness. It can reach to the innermost part of an individual. Music can envelope our emotions from tears all the way to our joy. It captivates and motivates. As I attended a concert on Saturday, November 7, 2015, Lynyrd Skynyrd performed with power and feeling to their audience.
I had been in band from fifth grade through high school so even just hearing an ensemble sound again was amazing as I miss band very much. I also really enjoyed The Swan Lake Suite as it has been one of my favorite pieces since I was little, so it was also really nice to hear something that I already knew a little of how it would go. The orchestra sounded amazing and I am also good friends with one of the bassoon players so it was neat that one of our concerts to choose from had someone I knew in it. It was so interesting to hear all of the elements we have been discussing in class, actually in person and it was helpful that I was in band throughout school
Even with my moods, whether it is sad or mad, music will help me get through it. It has absolutely been an enormous part of my life and who I am. Thus, this is to say that I have musical talent. I am in a high school marching band, where I play any piano-like instrument. My viewpoint with music has come to a simple conclusion, without it, I would not know who I am or what to do with my life.
