Personal Narrative: Christina Milian's Life Before Dying

Chris McCandless is a great inspiration to the people he met on his journey to Alaska. Jan Burres was inspired, by McCandless’s courage to live on his own. Ronald Franz drinking habits were killing him from the inside, but once he met Chris he got inspired for his word from god. Wayne Westerberg is inspired by McCandless strong minded and his courage to move away from society. Chris McCandless experiment to whom connected to his struggles in life and family life.

The definition of motherhood is “the state of being a mother.” Throughout the novel, The Bean Trees, written by Barbara Kingsolver, Taylor Greer learns the simple things about motherhood when a toddler, Turtle, is thrown in her car. Learning to raise the child brings up many tough decisions and obstacles, letting Tayor experience what love really is. Readers get to see everything Taylor does, reading through her eyes and getting to watch her mature into a young, independent individual. In the book, the storyline revolves around Taylor Greer’s growth, as she explores motherhood through love, maturity, and sacrifice.

The Bean Trees, by Barbara Kingsolver and My Sister’s Keeper, by Jodi Picoult are both books that show a moral dilemma. Anna forces a moral dilemma when she chooses to sue for the rights to her body. Taylor is constantly facing dilemmas in her life, such as whether or not the keep Turtle or to help Estevan and Esperanza. These books have many similarities as well as differences in aspects including theme, characters, plot, and genre.

This particular extract may be found about mid-way to nearing the end of the story of Verga’s L’Amante di Gramigna. Peppa, a woman who has abandoned a life of unthinkable fortune in marrying her fiancé, Finu, in pursuit of infamous bandit, Gramigna, who, has taken refuge among the cacti of Palagonia. Peppa has been left at the ravine as Gramigna, warned in advance by the howls of a pack of hunter dogs, attempts to flee an onslaught of bullets. Appearing again is Gramigna, dragging his fatally wounded body, declaring defeat at the hands of his hunters’ rifles. The preceding passage also details the dutiful nature of Peppa to Gramigna, along with the violence she endured while romantically inclined towards him, and the time she spent with him as he flees incarceration. The preceding events act as a justification of the ultimate fates for both parties, perpetuating the pessimistic climate of the text, as well as maintaining the functions of verismo. It is interesting if one is to consider the life of luxury Peppa might have indulged in, had she not sought out Gramigna, and the unfortunate downward spiral that occurs as a result.

Oprah Winfrey once said “Excellence is the best deterrent to sexism and racism.” (brainyquote.com) This statement is a great example of moral courage. Being able to move past those who want to put you down and do it with a smile. Oprah has always shown moral courage, not just in her career, but in her whole life. She is a role model to all. I will state why she displays moral courage, how she relates to Elie Wiesel, the author of the book, Night, and a nobel peace prize winner, and finally how Oprah has impacted me. By examining why she displays moral courage, how she relates to Elie Wiesel, and how she has impacted me it is clear how Oprah is the very definition of moral courage.

    AIDS Activist, Mary Fisher, gave her touching speech, “A Whisper of AIDS” (1992) demanding the Republican Party to take a stand and support research for the treatments of the deadly disease. She supports her thesis through ethos, pathos, and repetition. Mary’s purpose is to affect the Republican party in an emotional way in order to fulfill her desire for more research. Mary Fisher is addressing the Republican Party, but also the Democratic Party at the same time explaining that anyone can get AIDS no matter who they are, or what group they belong to.

Henrietta Lacks was thirty years old and found a ‘knot’ on her cervix, which led to her going to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. She was diagnosed with cervical cancer and treated with radium and x-ray therapy. Some of the tissue was removed from her tumor and sent to George Gey’s lab to be grown in test tubes. Gey was in charge of the Tissue Culture Department at Hopkins and had been researching and experimenting to attempt to make cells to divide so they could have an unlimited supply of cells to experiment on. Henrietta nor her family knew about the tissue sample and neither Gey or Hopkins informed them. They never informed them, even though the cells began to grow rapidly and the scientific world had realized

Armentine Lloyd Davis Banks born January 27, 1938. She has been alive for 78 years. She was born in Beaufort, North Carolina at home. Her mother’s name is Lucy Davis and she is the middle child out of three. Her older sister is Katherine Davis along with her younger brother Buddy Davis. All of her siblings including herself were born at home. Her home was located at 421 Craven Street. The doctor who conducted all of the births was Dr. Fulcher and a midwife named Luewine. My Nana was born around ten o 'clock at night. Her mother, father and grandmother were all present at her birth. She is most definitely the most talkative out of the three of her siblings.

Bobbi Kristina Brown was moved to hospice care. Radar Online, June 24, 2015 reported that the family has agreed to take Bobbi Kristina off drugs so she can pass away naturally. This means that unless a miracle happens, Bobbi Kristina will not be with us for much longer. Bobbi Kristina was found on January 31; face down and unresponsive in her bathtub at her home in Atlanta. There are a lot of African American role models in the world and throughout history. One major role model in the black community and for all Americans also happens to be a model, Tyra Banks. She stands as a role model because she is ambitious, persistent, and encouraging. If you don’t know already, Tyra Banks is the first African American woman to be featured in a Victoria’s Secret catalogue. She is also the first African American woman to appear on the covers of both GQ and the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition. Tyra Banks is a great role model for young girls and women due to her belief that society should not dictate what is an acceptable weight. And her older sister, Ashley. Marian, Taya father. Marian mother died because of illness. Marian been getting re married and been getting divorce a lot.

Living in a place where you don’t know if stepping on your porch, or going to get your mail may be the last day of your life. I come from a very happy family but a very cruel world, everything that looks good is not good. Momma always told me no matter how bad a situation is I can drop to my knees and God will be there, and wherever I am his angels are always with me, so fear was rare.

I still remember July 31, 2015 like it was yesterday. I was lying in bed at five in the morning, contemplating the day I had ahead of me on a warm summer morning. Hearing a knock on my bedroom door, my mom walked in and whispered that she was leaving for the hospital with my dad. All I could manage to do was hug her. My mom was scheduled to be induced to have my youngest brother, Andrew. Throughout her pregnancy, numerous concerns arose due to her age. Thankfully, Aunt Joy from Florida offered to help while Mom was in the hospital and after.
