Cliff jumping in Colorado Springs was a thrilling experience. On a sunny afternoon, we rowed towards the cliff in our raft. It loomed above the rushing water of Arkansas River, blocking out the sun, like a giant over a pond. We pulled to the edge and quickly trekked up the cliff and readied ourselves for the jump. When I was ready, I walked to the edge and took a deep breath and jumped. The sensation of falling was like being in the middle of an earthquake, I was vibrating everywhere. When I hit the water it was similar to the feeling of being submerged in ice cubes. When my head broke the surface of the frigid water, the air smells like the fresh scent of pine. No matter what happens, I will never forget cliff jumping in the Arkansas
In December, my family and I went skiing in Colorado. We like to go see our family, and participate in winter sports. Our two favorite sports are tubing and skiing. When we arrived at Colorado there were ten inches of snow on the ground. We had a choice to go back to my grandparent’s house or go tubing and then go back.
Best Moment - Gatlinburg Tennessee. “Wake up Andrew, Almost time to leave.” Mom said as walking away from my door. I 've never been so awake and excited in my life. This is the first time we’ve ever gone to Gatlinburg Tennessee.
This memory story is about the first and only time I went to a Rocky Mountain Rage game. I was a second year squirt. It January 20th three days before the Rage game I don't even know yet. In the rink my parents tell out of surprise that i'm going to skate on the ice in between the 2nd and 3rd period at the rage game on January 23 . I was thinking that this was going to be the most outstanding day of my life if I knew the rage were.
So after our visit to Cedar Lake we set off on our way to the badlands. Now this isn't going to be like the kind of story where i talk about our amazing time their and skip all the driving. This is about the trip their and the many of complications but many of miracles. Our trip to the badlands is one of the most inspirational parts of this entire book. Their are many of places and times when God really reveales himself to us and shows us his great mercy.
It was a nice summer day,July, 2014. I woke up really early, around 6 a.m. My parents had to pick up my uncle and his girlfriend because they were coming with us. It was a long drive. The drive was about two hours.
After we moved to Colorado I became a wild child some might say, and once I graduated from High School and moved away from home I was on a path of destruction. Throughout this entire time, my parents were supportive and we had a good relationship. My sister and I had a good relationship but she was married by this time and moved to Colorado a couple years later. Although, I never was in a committed relationship I would date and had a few girlfriends throughout this time.
Having had the foresight to properly test and adjust her loaded backpack before we left the motel, Julie appeared to be doing well in the backpack department, While still in the early planning stage, I envisioned a high country hike and campout on a scenic mountain summit or high grassy bald, meeting and exchanging stories with other hikers on the trail. As our gear arsenal expanded, I realized that, not being born a mule, I was neither prepared or willing to climb any long slope with a fully loaded backpack, no matter how rewarding the prize at the trails end. With a reputation of isolation and proximity to water, my daughter favoured the Lakeshore Trail alongside Fontana Lake, a place we 've only seen looking down from nearby mountain summits. The guide book illustrated the Lakeshore Trail to campsite 98 as a horizontal traverse for the most part, with a series of smallish undulating valleys and crests, the largest having an elevation change of only 500 feet.
Pikes Peak This past summer I went on vacation with my aunt’s family to Colorado, and being from iowa, the land of corn and flat ground, we wanted to do all the mountain things you can do in Colorado. one very memorable mountain we visited was Pikes Peak, one of the tallest mountains in Colorado 14,114 thousand feet above sea level. There are two ways you can get to the top of Pikes Peak, you can drive up the side of the mountain, or you can ride the train up the other side, if you ride the train then you can only be on the top for 20 to 30 minutes, but if you drive you can do whatever you want, so we chose to drive up. The drive up was beautiful, even though the road was really windy and made me car sick it was still really cool to see.
My wagon train and I are leaving Independence and will travel 166 miles and 6 days to Alcove Springs. While we were leaving there was a huge traffic jam with all the carts and animals. The cart in front of mine was driven by a lawyer from New York so he didn't know how to control his animals very well. When we got to the Kansas River the carts wouldn't float so we all had to pay $1 to use the raft. After 6 days and 166 miles we finally made it to Alcove Springs.
The drive was almost unbearable, but the thought of spending the week in the snow with family kept me going. It was only a four hour drive, but at 9 years old, it felt like an eternity. The scenery slowly changed from flat land, to rolling hills. The hills were covered in yellow dying grass, but they were still beautiful. Then we started to make the climb.
I remember looking down and the waterfalls and seeing the immense amount of water crashing down the steep, rocky mountainside. Once we got to the top, my parents took me on hiking trails to see more waterfalls that were smaller. In more modern times, I had just finished my junior year of high school with a passion for soccer. My only goal was to play college soccer, and the only way to do that is to get my name out.
Some things you experience in life stick with you for a long time. A family trip I took to Durango, Colorado was one of those experiences for me. There are so many different things that made it so memorable for me. Waking up surrounded by trees, hearing the faint sound of water running from a nearby stream, and finishing this perfect setting were the mountains towering over it all. Durango Colorado has some of the most enjoyable surroundings I've ever experienced.
I wanted to jump so badly, but my fear of heights was holding me back. This fear was like an invisible wall placed at the cliff's edge. Down below me, my cousin and aunt had already taken the plunge into the dark water below. It was so deep. I dragged myself back towards the edge and I stood with my toes tightly gripping the cliffs unforgiving edges.
A warm morning, sun shining with a slight breeze, and calm waters; the perfect day to learn how to water ski. I had never been water skiing before, I barely knew what it was, I was anxious to say in the least. I stood on the dock as my parents maneuvered the boat into the water, I’ve never been so uncertain. My family reassured me that everything would be okay as I was strapped up my life jacket. I stood on the edge of the boat, apprehensive, but I had to jump in the water, it was now or never.
We fell and then we felt the cool splash of water hit us. It was so fun! We did about 20 more times after that and my parent had to force us to come back to the boat so we could go home. We crashed again when we got home dreaming about the bigger cliffs we could find
