I will always remember the fantastic experience that I had in Cooperstown last summer. As we entered the ballpark in our car, we could see the majestic baseball field. People were already working on the fields, making the grass sparkle and the dirt smooth. We drove down the consummately paved road to the barracks and as they came into view, I could see several of them. All of them right next to each other, identical. I slowly exited the car, opened the trunk and got all of my baggage. I had one bulky bag carrying my clothes, my bat bag, and an extra small bag for snacks. As I walked through the parking lot, I heard kids stomping the ground making a “thud thud” sound and shouting at each other with excitement in their voices. We walked …show more content…
It was by far the nicest fields I have ever played on. The outfield grass was as green as it can get and the infield was perfectly raked. We walked into the dugouts which were long with a bench going through it. We hung our bags on the fence and went onto the outfield and started throwing. The outfield grass was wet and soft as I felt it with my hand. We started with throws from close away but then started to back it up. At about 100 feet we took a few throws and then started to work it back in until we were a foot away and then we put the baseballs in the bucket. When the coach wanted to have a talk with us, we all made a circle and he just talked about what we can do and a little about the other team. He started out by talking about the batting order and where everyone was in the field but then he started talking about where the other team was from and how good they were. As the coach was talking, I could hear the other team throwing, the pop in their gloves. After he was finished we hustled into the dugout, got a sip of water and by the time were were finished, the coach was out by home plate meeting the other coach and the umpires. After they were finished talking he walked back toward us and it was time to play
G is for Giants According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Francisco_Giants “The San Francisco Giants are an American professional baseball franchise based in San Francisco, California. and I had to sit next to my sister. But we took a pitstop and a few guys from our eam where there. . when we finally got there it was huge and there were about 20 baseball fields that looked like major league fields and there wereA lot of dorm rooms but the place was so beautiful when you looked out all you could see was mountains. “This place is amazing,”one of my team mates said. The next day we went straight
We got stung a little but we sure did get those hornets. The baseball diamond was my favorite place to hang out with my friends. We shared a lot of good memories there.
Right before I went out onto the field to play catch with two kids my dad nodded, "Good luck!" After we had warmed up the coaches had us catch pop ups. They hit the pop ups with a tennis racket. Next they had a hit. If we were not hitting we were in the field catching the balls that the other kids hit.
A couple of our guys got on, but then I was up to bat. I was so excited. I got up there and decided that I was going to take the first pitch (not swing at it) to get my timing to make sure I get a hit. Ball one, I step out of the box taking another practice cut. I got back in the box and waited for the next one.
Baseball is my favorite sport and I had a lot of memories. I have been playing baseball for 5 years. 3 years ago I was on the Serra Minor Giants and we were playing a game against the Minor Pirates. We were losing 8 - 5 and the bases were loaded. One of my teammates was batting, he stepped into the batter 's box about to take a swing.
I stared in awe as I saw the glistening field. The sun was shining bright and there was a fresh breeze that filled me with all the hope a six year old could have. It was a perfect day, the kind of day that would have made Picasso paint. In my situation, this day gave me confidence, I wanted to learn more about this rollercoaster ride of emotion by the name of baseball. The sign up, the practice, the boys, the fail.
I have lived in East Oakland my whole life. To the majority of people, the mention of East Oakland evokes thoughts of violence, shootings, and gangs. I was one of the people who believed in these stereotypes, and for a particularly long time. I was one of the people who saw Oakland as a wasteland, a place with nothing to offer me, and a place I had nothing to offer to.
Visiting to a state that I have always wanted to go is to visit Colorado with my family; therefore, it was fun while going to that place. This happened last years’ summer. There are a few things that we did in that state. So before we went to Colorado, we had to drive from one state to another. Like we first drove from Illinois, our state, to Iowa.
All you do is bat and ground the ball and through it to a person. You do have to run a lot. But compared to the rest of the rest of the sports baseball is the most laid back. I remember one game where I played third base and our team was so good no one got to third base so I just got to stand there and look pretty!
It was the beginning of Spring 2015 and I was in 4th grade. Baseball season was right around the corner and I was shopping for gear. My baseball team, the Alameda All-Stars, was put together by me and my twin brother, Austin, when we asked our friends if they wanted to play with us. At practice coach sent us to warm up our arms and run around the field, then take positions for grounders from an assistant coach.
I had a feeling that I was gonna pitch that day, so I had to get my mind right. When I got to the field I sat my bag and everything else in the same spot, grabbed my glove, stretched, and started warming up. At the time I was very superstitious and I had to do the same thing every single pregame. Right before the game started my coach talked to all of us and then I would give my pregame speech to hype of the team.
“This ain't fun. But you watch me, I'll get it done.” This is quote was stated by Jackie Robinson. Jackie Robinson was the first African American Major League Baseball player. He also was the first African American to join the Baseball Hall of Fame.
We then watch carefully the opposing team’s pitcher as she warms up. As a lead off hitter, it is my job to do anything possible to get on base. By working the count I am frisking with the pitcher to get into her head. I then get exactly what I want, a pitch that could change the outcome of the entire game. Once I take a swing at the perfect pitch you can hear the crack of the bat forcefully pushing the ball to get a base hit.
I'm exploring various areas for retirement, which presently includes Raleigh/Durham, and possibly Asheville, for visits up to six months of the year. Hopefully, I will be lucky to meet acquaintances who are similar in age who are willing to connect without the need for a rushed relationship. I would like to settle down but I am realistic and will admit that I am careful. I am hopeful for a mature commitment in the future. An important aspect is flexibility as my lifestyle involves travel, which is unavoidable.
