WOOSTER — Dawn Cazzolli’s job is stressful. She is the executive director of the Wayne County Children’s Advocacy Center, which looks into allegations of sexual and severe physical abuse.
“It’s stressful and people get burned out, but when you look around the table, there’s people who are just as passionate about child safety and child welfare,” she said. “I think of it as a calling.”
To help Cazzolli recharge, she, her husband, Andy, and their children, Greyson, 15, and Sophia, 13, like to go camping, “into nature where birds are singing, where I feel the breeze, to bike, hike and see so many flowers.
“It definitely helps bring some peace,” she said. “The quiet is soothing.”
The family tries to take one non-camping trip a year, and they usually take some extended weekends to camp. They have had fun in places like the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee; Massanutten, Pa.; Daytona Beach, Fla., and Ponce de Leon Inlet, Fla., and Milwaukee.

During the trip, a boat took them out into the ocean and dropped them off on a sandbar. While there, they searched for and collected sand dollars.
Just down the road from Daytona is Ponce de Leon, and they visited the lighthouse there. Her husband, who does not like heights, wasn’t so sure he wanted to scale the spiraling staircase to the top of the lighthouse, but he ultimately went

My partner is Cathryn Cusano, she has lived in Easton, Pennsylvania throughout her entire life. Cathryn has a love for softball and has played ever since she was a little girl. During Cathryn’s senior year of high school she had multiple offers to play softball for elite colleges in the area. She started out having an amazing season, the team was also thriving which eventually resulted in them making it to the playoffs. It was the first round of playoffs and Cathryn was on first base, one of her teammates was up to bat.
It was November 21st and I, Laura Berman, was sitting in a parlor with the one and only John F. Kennedy. The parlor wasn’t grand, honestly it almost drab, but it had a quaint homey feel to it. It was almost as if it had held a life much simpler than ours. I sat on the arm of a La-Z-boy with a glass of whiskey in my right hand.
On May 20,1996 I was born Damione Freeman growing up in a small city named Pell City. Growing up wasn't easy for me father was never around just leaving me with my mother. As a child I was always happy, caring, and well mannered. When I turned five I started living with my grandmother, Dianne Freeman and my uncle, Akeem Freeman. At the age of five I was torn away from my mother because of her husband and his issues.
Counting down the list from number 20 to eventual number 1, my heart raced as they called out the names. It was 8th grade and the rankings were out. This may seem like a rather pretentious achievement but when they called out the name “Andrea Campos” as the valedictorian of Copiague middle school. My heart skipped a beat and tears streamed down my face. Hearing my parents brag about me to their friends made me feel like my accomplishment was their achievement as well.
Ever since I was young, I have always heard someone talking about Marquette. Part of this may be due to the fact that three of my neighbors have gone to Marquette and have absolutely loved it. Adding on to that, I have met even more people that have gone to Marquette that have really liked it and are usually successful in life. I met even more people at the Marquette open house that were from all over the United States and said they went to Marquette and they hope their child will attend Marquette as well. This made me realize that Marquette is truly local, since I know several people that have gone to Marquette that live by me and at the same time it is global, since I have met people around the United States, as well as other countries that
A hero is a person that takes time out of their everyday life to help a person in need. Katie Birrenkott, my older sister, is my hero. She is 24 years old, graduated from college, and back in her hometown to pursue her dreams as an independent woman. No matter who it is, she will be there for anybody.
A second paid opportunity I have had serving children has been working as summer camp counselor for the past three summers. Each summer since May 2013, Warren W. Willis United Methodist Summer Camp has provided me with the opportunity to mentor a wide variety of children ranging in ages from rising fourth grade to newly graduated high school seniors. Here I have taken on many roles of mentor, advocate, listener, friend, small group leader, activities facilitator, etc. Here I have interacted with children and adolescents of all backgrounds and cultures.
This campground provides a great setting for relaxing and enjoying nature. All camp sites have picnic tables and campfire rings. Tent camping site areas range from semi - sunny
I was so close, just a few feet behind the irritatingly bright mop of red hair. My whole body was so pumped on adrenaline that I couldn’t even feel my legs. Only the consciousness that they were moving, fast. My arms reached out in front of me, itching to get ahold of the fluorescent green ball that I have set my sights on. Just as I was about to overtake Preston, I lost control of my footing and plop!
Montreat, North Carolina is a Presbyterian Youth Conference located in Black Mountain. We meet so many new people, we exchange opinions, and we share our difficulties. We become so much closer to our youth group, which for the week is referred to as our back-home group. Montreat is such a safe place. I know I can truly be myself whether I am with my friends or with strangers.
The “hood” is often what downtown, Elizabeth NJ is labeled as. Children like me are doubted as many people seem to believe we will just become another statistic. My background has motivated to strive for success, proving those with agnosticism wrong. Seeing bodies strung out on the corner or laying on the sidewalk is a part of my everyday life. I’m not ashamed of where I come from as it has made me who I am today.
Gabriel Sandoval held a hand to his stomach as it seemed to come to life from within him. He lay in bed, dismayed at the thought of his family’s current economic situation, but thankful for Georgia’s balmy late spring. Winter without heating would almost certainly be their demise. “Sergio, do you need to use the bathroom before I turn the lights off?” Gabe’s mother spoke to her husband.
