Personal Narrative: Dealing With The Mouse Character Scurry By Spencer Johnson

He wiped off the slick sweat on the back of his neck, knowing it was his time to shine. Centennial Olympic Park surrounded him. The Bank of America Plaza towered to the East. Dane Kutnick is in right field , Tanner Smith at first, and Jason VanDenLangenberg is catching. We have played 3 tournaments together, but we already looked like we have been playing together for a long time. Chris’ relationship with Walt was not very good but was not very bad. Walt was able to give money to Chris whenever he needed. In the personal narrative essay “Sticks and Stones”, author Nicole Bell narrates a story about a time in her life where she and her brother, Greg, stood up to the constant bullying they were experiencing. Every morning, as Bell and Greg would ride the bus to school James Nicholas, the bully, would verbally abuse, and criticize them. One morning, James decided to use physical force. Nicole and her brother ultimately reacted to the threats and retaliated. Even though we learn that violence is never the answer, the essay emphasizes the strong, defensive bond between siblings.

What stands out the most me to in We the Animal by Justin Torres is, the cycle of abuse that is going on and how it constantly affects the children. In this book the main character's father constantly beats their mother. One example is in the beginning of the chapter “Big Dick Truck,” the main character's father buys a truck. And the mother starts questions the father on why he would buy a truck when they have kids. She feels as though it wouldn't be safe.

Of Mice and Men is about Lennie and George in which Lennie decided to feel a girls skirt because he liked the type of material. So George went with Lennie to escape and not get in trouble and decided to go to a bunkhouse where they work and are provided with food and a place to live. George and Lennie are best friends and so they went together. Lennie has the mind of a 6 year old and needs to be with George. When quit their jobs, George planned out a dreamland of how they will live when they get enough money to move to their own house.

Countless psychological studies show the truth: hope, dreams, and goals are the psychological vehicles driving success. In Of Mice and Men, the dream is to leave the life of work and travel behind and live on a ranch, in War Dance, the goal is to do well at the national music competition, and in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Walter Mitty hopes for a more interesting life in a series of daydreams, to ultimately find that he has been living the true daydream. Hope, dreams, and goals allowed the people portrayed, fictional or not, to strive for more. Hopes, dreams, and goals allow people to increase their motivation, perform better, and seek new concepts. To start, hopes, dreams, and goals allow an increase in motivation by giving a person something to strive for.

What character qualities do you think exemplify an NHS member? How do you personally exemplify these qualities? Give specific examples. Treating everyone as equals no matter your own personal preferences is a crucial trait for a member of the National Honor Society because a personal bias against a certain group of people changes many different situations and influences your own character.

We have read two books this year: ´Of mice and men´ and ´The curious incident of the dog in the night-time’. The books differ a lot, however they also share some similarities. ´ Of mice and men´ is about two men, named Lennie and George, who live in the time of the Great depression. They are looking for a job, but this isn’t easy because Lennie is mentally disabled so George needs to look after him the whole time.

Of Mice and Men might be an old story but it stays true to its theme of friendship and conflict. In Of Mice and Men it's really about two men, Lennie and George who are faced with lots of obstacles because of their outside appearances but internally they are very opposite to their body shapes from first glance. Lennies this big tough guy but on the inside he struggles from day to day life because of his mental disability. George is vice versa just because he is small doesn't account to anything George tends to want things his way and has more of a restricted personality but Lennie and George have something in common they both have each others backs like a true friendship. Steinbeck's “ Lennie, who had been watching, imitated George exactly.

“So you’ll read to him from one of your books, and he’ll ask to see the pictures. When he looks at the pictures, he’ll get so excited he’ll want to draw one of his own.” This quote is from If You Give a Mouse a Cookie by Laura Numeroff, and my first memory of exposure to the written word. My parents would read this to me at night before going to bed. This is when I realized that reading and writing are important pieces of the life puzzle, and are very important in building a strong foundation.

I am always looking for a challenge and expect to excel each time. I have distinguished myself from my peers by taking on extra responsibilities

What I must remember that people are constantly catching me. Whatever I may do may be a role model inspiring others model for growth and change. Over the last fifteen years, I have grown mentally and socially. I credit my growth to my ability to analyze and understand the world for what it is. Social imagination is the use of information to understand the world and ourselves for who we are. Possessing the quality of mind that can develop reason and the capacity to shift perspectives are the basis of social imagination (Mills 2000). As I mentioned in reflection one, I came to realize that my way of thinking is what helped me overcome living a poor lifestyle.

In the poem, To a Mouse, Robert Burns states, “The best laid schemes of mice and men/ Go often askew/ And leave us nothing but grief and pain” (Burns). Burns wrote about an incident where he accidentally ruined a mouse’s home while plowing a field. During the early 1900s, the Great Depression, one of the biggest economic slumps in the history of the United States, was taking place. It resulted in many people being unemployed, lonely, and stuck in poverty.
