Top five less known historic attractions in Dubrovnik Croatia [... And you will see many not so famous attractions. Four magical days I was in Old Town Dubrovnik, the pearl of the Mediterranean, getting acquainted with the spirit of the former Republic of Dubrovnik and the life of this city at the end of the tourist season.] Every time when I come to Dubrovnik, it feels like I am coming into a special, magical world. I do not know if this is due to the historic city walls, monuments and old houses whose stone tells distant memories of realized and unrealized loves, or because of the friendly people, their kindness and warm welcome that they give away to its guests. There are many texts and praises written about the city in the far south of the Croatia, which is called the most beautiful in the world. Words are not necessary: it is enough to look at the pictures of this paradise on earth, as George Bernard Shaw once said, and all will be clear. So, I want to draw your attention to five less known attractions within the majestic walls. …show more content…
Obliti privatorum publica curate on Rector’s Palace Forget the private and worry for the public sign is standing on the lintel of the entrance to the Great Council hall on the first floor of the Rector's Palace. Most likely it is set in late 15th century during the construction of City Hall, or shortly after. It is the best mark of tradition of republicanism in Dubrovnik and the fact that the old state of Dubrovnik was very important to its residents. Certainly there have been times when this idea was violated, but still shows an expression of civic virtue and the Dubrovnik’s political wisdom in regard to the fact that people of Dubrovnik their freedom, then the most respected one, ensured with skillful diplomacy to develop smoothly the
And this one amazing thing has nothing to do with sex, drugs, or women. It has merely to do with the architecture of the old city. All of the history lies within the walls of the city. All the buildings were built in a time were they put a huge amount of work and effort in their craft. They let there art flourish with in every brick and detail put into what they were crafting.
Navajos always have believed that their homeland is geographically and spiritually located within the area bounded by four major sacred mountains. Today Navajo land, held in trust by the United States government, has been set aside by treaty and executive order as an Indian reservation; however, this reservation is significantly smaller than the land that was culturally placed within the area of the four sacred
In the initial creation of the White City the designers’ primary reason for the fairs grand size was to exceed the large success in Paris that had overshadowed even the most renowned pieces of American architecture. Larson used that phenomenon as “…a world`s fair so big and glamorous and so exotic that visitors came away believing that no exposition could surpass it.” (26). Larson`s use of the words glamorous and exotic make France`s fair appear to be the upmost success of architecture of the time period. Readers now have a standard set in their mind that nothing could possibly compare to the success of the French, and the world`s fair had to face this unobtainable guideline set by Paris`s feat.

To review a historical site, I visited the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site located at 1001 E 5th Street Vancouver, Washington. The historical site was established by John McLoughlin in 1824 by the Hudson’s Bay Company. The setting was enormous, with many various old buildings including large acres of land. I found it very intriguing to explore the history of my hometown and what exactly occurred at this historical place that made it famous. First of all, the location wouldn’t have existed without the exploration by Lewis and Clark.

To lack in the aspect of these connections often results in assimilation into society and separation from origins. Skryznecki highlights a relationship of admiration towards his father in the metaphorical hyperbole as he wonders ‘Why his (Feliks) arms didn’t fall off/ from the soil he turned/ and the tobacco he rolled’, Skryznecki is in awe of his father, defining Feliks from his perspective as a man of discipline and fortitude. As an audience, we gather that Feliks has created a place of belonging and connected atmosphere through rewarding attributes and tradition that even ‘his polish friends’ embody. However, disconnection is accentuated as Skryznecki describes that they ‘always shook hands too violently’ with the use of traditional full names ‘Feliks Skryznecki/ that formal address’ that he ‘never got used to’, it is evident that Skryznecki is excluded, unfamiliar with his polish culture and lacking understanding of his traditions. The use of first person allows for a deeper reflection and sense of regret as Skryznecki ‘forgot (his) first polish word’ whilst Feliks ‘repeated it so I never forgot/ After that, like a dumb prophet/ watching me pegging my tents further south of Hadrian’s Wall’, the reinforced limited connection to his heritage is exhibited through the loss of his language that leads to the lack of identity with Skryznecki’s culture, instead assimilating into Australian culture.
The most significant architectural features of the building are: • It’s battered walls-thinner at the top than at the bottom to give an impression of solidarity and height. •The diamond panned windows incorporated without a style break. •the columns of reeds bunched together with palm leaf

When sea level was lower, during the coldest times of the Pleistocene Epoch, the six volcanoes formed one island.” Haleakala is a part of the Kea trend of volcanoes that includes West Maui, Mauna Kea and Kohala volcanoes.
In the essay, “A Literature of Place”, by Barry Lopez focuses on the topic of human relationships with nature. He believes human imagination is shaped by the architectures it encounters within life. Lopez first starts his essay with the statement that geography is a shaping force for humans. This shaping force is what creates our imagination; the shaping force is found within nature. Everything humans see within nature is remembered, thus creating new ideas and thoughts for our imagination.
She was afraid that the way she spoke about this city would not be the same anymore, but she said,"we will find out." However, when she was in the car to get to the hotel boutique, she said, “this is my place, it is here where I left behind many childhood memories, it still remains in paradise”. On the other hand, I felt I was in Europe because of the architecture. I was fascinated with the way the city looked because there were pink, blue, and yellow colored houses. One thing I found surprising about
He encourages the reader to free oneself from official or commercial architecture which are influenced by the prejudice towards the late phases in architecture which are only concerned with a few selected cultures and turn a blind eye to underdeveloped countries and their alien architecture. He praises primitive architecture for its timelessness and its ability to serve its purpose to perfection with no room for improvement and regrets that the origin of these indigenous building forms and construction methods is lost in the past. Rudofsky then introduces Communal Architecture, ‘ art not produced by a few intellectuals or specialists but by the spontaneous and continuing activity of a whole people with a common heritage, acting under a community experience.’ The beauty of primitive architecture is often dismissed as accidental, but today we should recognize it as an art that developed from human intellect that was applied to handling practical issues and our problems are rooted in our tendency to accredit specialists who may have exceptional insight but are largely concerned with business and prestige. He challenges his readers on a fundamental level and exposes alternate and endangered forms of urban development, lifestyle, social spaces and practicality which we have not learnt from.
