She did an absolutely wonderful job of creating this time period with just her words and it’s one of my favorite things about this book. The As a boy, Louie Zamperini was always in trouble, but with the help of his older brother, he turned his life around and channeled his energy into running. He set his first record in high school, “He ran a field of milers off their feet, stopping the watches in 5:03. Three seconds faster than Pete’s record.”(17) He moved on from high school and set his eyes on the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Louie “lived and breathed the 1,500 meters and Berlin.”(22) Louie couldn’t get into what he could do best which was the 1,500 meters because “he couldn’t force his body to improve quickly enough to catch his older rivals by summer.
In overtime Tim Tebow who did not play the whole year completed an 80 yard pass for the broncos to win a sudden death overtime playoff game vs the Steelers. The years from 2000-2010 was so hard to be a pirates fan. They were absolutely awful! The baseball they were playing was disturbing to watch but lucky for me they are one of the best teams in baseball now. Now onto the ups of being a Pittsburgh sports fan.
Being shoved to the ground and coming up with a mouthful of turf and a bloody nose isn’t the ideal way to spend a friday night, but for me, it's something I put blood, sweat, and tears into. Soccer has been a passion of mine since my father dropped me off at the local YMCA when I was at the tender age of four. Spending all of my free days for thirteen years running after a soccer ball is arguably what made me into the person I am today. Unity, tenacity, passion and pride have all been morals that are valued within the sport and in my own philosophy. I have explored places I’d never give a second thought to because my sport took me there.
He was one of the best outside linebackers in the league, and the quarterbacks were always scared of him. He was the New York Giants first-round pick in 2009 and he has been playing for them since. Over the off season after his 2014 season, he was in South Florida celebrating the fourth of July. While he was celebrating he tried setting off fireworks, but they blew up and his hand was severely injured (Kratch, 2015). He suffered burns on his palm and 3 of his fingers, nerve damage in one finger, fractured many bones in his left hand, and had to amputate his index finger (Fitzgerald, 2015).

Eric died was because he had a brain tumor and died February 21,1945, Weifang, China. He had won every 100-meter race he had run since early in his running career. His quick speed earned him a spot on the 100-meter British Olympic team. He chose not to race in the 100 meter (his best event) because it was the held on Sunday. The Christian sabbath. Even though I lost I knew I had gotten into his head mentally because I didn’t see him since he ran into the locker room mad because I had embarrassed him and since he knew he was very lucky to get the win. Since I knew I had one or two more chance to wrestle Nerine in the state tournament in two weeks I felt I had brought him down a little bit mentally which I could use to my
I discovered one of my passions by participating in a sport I swore i would never do: cross country. For the majority of my life I had played competitive soccer and it was part of my identity. I loved the feeling of sprinting down the field towards an attacking forward for the sole purpose of helping my team and I never wanted to give that up. Entering my freshman year of high school, I joined a soccer program that was filled with pressure to win games, and although I had a great time during the season with my teammates I sensed that something wasn’t right. My parents and friends knew the struggles I was going through with soccer and they all said the same thing, “why don’t you try cross country?” My answer was the same each time, “I would never even consider doing cross country, that's not going to happen.
The home football team was expected to win on Friday night, through the whole first half they were up 41-0. The coaches warned the players to keep their mind focused on the game until the very end. Ignoring their coaches advice, during halftime they laughed and joked around in the locker room assuming they had already won the game. However, during the second half of the game the visiting team that was down by 41 points came back and tied up the game leaving fans of both teams biting their finger nails in suspense as the two tams battled it out. The players realized that the joking around in the locker room during halftime had switched their minds from game mode to play mode and were struggling desperately to get the lead back.
It was a crispy cold Saturday night and the stakes for the game were high. The score of the game was two for my team (JFV Westpfalz) and two for Westrich (my teams rival). It was about thirty-five minutes after halftime and both teams were beginning to get exhausted from the struggle of scoring. My team having the good offense and the rival team having a tremendously good defense couldn’t find a way to score on each other. The defense of Westrich with no mercy maliciously slide tackled my friend Tamar Holmes who was playing striker.
we were play 29 palms that week, they are our biggest rivals after yucca and i just wanted to get yellow paint on my helmet so bad. last year when we played them a big boy crushed me and i hurt my ankle. i was really hoping he was a freshman last year so i could get some payback. I woke up the morning of the game put some makeup on and a mask that looked very human like and went to school. i told everyone that i was an exchange student and would only be there for two days.
