Refusing to be cheated out of my seventeen wishes I counted the candles exactly thirty-seven times to make sure the bakery had gotten it right. Seventeen ruby candles were mounted atop a round red velvet cake with vanilla icing covering it. 'Happy Birthday Athena ' was written in a scarlet colour with the finest attached writing I had ever seen on a cake. Red velvet had always been my favourite despite it only being chocolate cake with food colouring. My brother Jamal told me that red velvet cake was the second biggest food scam of the world, right after astronaut ice cream.
A minuscule life changing knowledge: Astronauts do not eat space ice cream and never have, however they have space pudding.
My living room was transformed like a special

Dad actually gave this to me when I was about fifteen, I 'm pretty upset they never got to continue the series, actually there 's only comic, it 's kind of silly I 've been holding onto it all these years when I 've been meaning to give it to you, you should definitely give it a read, it 's a true collector 's item and it 's an extraordinary story that I don 't think has ended yet, " After Jamal 's array of stutters and awkward pauses he passed me a comic book sealed in a fresh plastic wrap.
My dad died a few weeks after Bianca was born, I remember very little about him. Aphrodite got his records, he left me all his books and Jamal inherited his comic book collection. Every year Jamal would give me newly bought comics for my birthday, I didn 't even read all of them but I kept them but this felt a lot different.
"Thank you, Jamal, it means a lot" I smiled up at him.
"No problem, I 'll uh leave you to it then, good night," He scratched the back of his head and left my room carefully closing the door.
In the plastic seal along with the comic, a blue crystal necklace glistened and it was nothing like I had seen before. I took off the tape the silver chain was hanging from and placed it around my neck and held the crystal between my fingers, admiring every millimetre of its beauty
I ran my fingers over the title of the comic, it was written in a thick marker font in light blue. Zedorah
501 It was Halloween night, my three friends Bryce, Zach, and Bailey and I were so excited, it was the 666th Halloween, we had all met up at Bryce’s Brother KY’s house in Donaldson, Arkansas. We had been invited to this Halloween party in down town Malvern on the train tracks by ACME Brick. So we called Bailey’s sister Megan because she lives beside KY’s house and KY and his Fiancé Megan wouldn’t take us to that part of Malvern because it is one of the worst neighborhoods in Malvern. So she takes us to the opposite side of Malvern and dropped us off at Bryce’s mom’s house on Louisiana st.

Today I am honored to be standing here presenting the Conn Smythe trophy to my friend Duncan Keith. The Conn Smythe is awarded to the most valuable player during the Stanley Cup Playoffs. I first heard of this tremendous defensemen back in the 2009-10 season where he helped prevail the Chicago Blackhawks to their first Stanley Cup victory since 1961. It seems like Duncan never has a bad season and makes very few mistakes on the ice. The amount of time he puts into this game really shows his dedication and love for hockey.
Though we shouldn 't forget the main issue, these boys are a menace to the peaceful vibe overall. Yes that may seem harsh to say, but there are ways to celebrated MLK day. Coco Brown, Pug 's mom, described bike riding as a wau to keep the delinquents off streets even if it 's just for a day. Still, dirt bikes and atv 's do not belong on public roads. Especially if there are other civilians driving on the same road .
Cecily Strong is a comedian of the famous and popular show Saturday Night Live on NBC. She often works with her coworkers to made fun of what happening in the world. Today is the day for the most fascinating, out of this world adventure, at Dollywood! Our class had an option of choosing our yearly class trip destination, and of course it was Dollywood! Dollywood is a place full of adventure, wonder, and magic! It has everything a girl could dream of it includes: roller coasters, food, animal descriptions, and an area of cognitive-content from years ago. Honestly, to tell you the truth, I had to persuade the class to pick Dollywood, but I knew it would be completely worth it.
At the age of two, doctors told her family that her heart was relatively too weak for her body, and that she would require treatment and worst case scenario, a transplant. Two months later her
Thousands of women have screamed at the top of their lungs, clawed at the patriarchy, and tirelessly fought for their rights as citizens of the United States of America. From the beginning of mankind, women have been labeled as inferior to men not only physically, but mentally and intellectually as well. Only in 1920 did women gain the right to voice their opinions in government elections while wealthy white men received the expected right since the creation of the United States. A pioneer in women’s suffrage, Susan B. Anthony publicly spoke out against this hypocrisy in a time when women were only seen as child bearers and household keepers. Using the United State’s very own Constitution and Declaration as ammunition, Anthony wrote countless
Throughout America's history, the design of our currency has been changed quite a few times for reasons such as, avoiding counterfeit threats or to instill and show our American pride. In 2020, the U.S. will be changing the face of the $10 bill to a woman's face. The year 2020 is significant because it is the 100th year anniversary of when women gained the right to vote. You could say there are many women that deserve this honor, but I believe that Lucy Stone should be the one featured on the bill because of her many contributions to the evolution of American democracy. Lucy Stone lived in a time when the only main figures in society were white, adult men.
To take another term often used to describe a home run, but this more often used to describe those home runs that maybe going over the fence but the announcer isn’t too sure if it will. This is where the possible inductees on my “ballot” that are on the fringe landed. For years questions have raged on why Mike Piazza isn’t in the Hall of Fame yet, and some even sunk low enough to think it was sabotage. I think Mike just had a cloud over his career due to his cohorts that has been lifted after years of coming so close to making into the Hall of Fame. I believe that 2016 will be the year that one of if the greatest catcher of all time punches his ticket to Cooperstown.
Thesis: When you think of memorials, what do you think of? Maybe the large Washington monuments, or Mount Rushmore come to mind. Well, lets honestly think about what a monument is. Something built to keep the memory of something, or someone alive. Just as a gravestone does, or a plaque, or a picture of a loved one on social media.
On the 26th of January, White-Australian’s all around Australia celebrated the 150th anniversary of the arrival of the First Fleet to Port Jackson. To many, it was seen as a day to commemorate the growth and progress of Australia, but to the Indigenous community this day symbolised the ‘frightful conditions’ (Jack Patten, 1938) that the they were forced into and was referred to as ‘The Day of Mourning’. Three Indigenous men saw this day as an opportunity to raise awareness for the mistreatment and discrimination shown towards their people. William Cooper, William Ferguson and Jack Patten revealed a petition seeking equal citizen rights for the Indigenous people. The protest commenced with a march at Sydney’s Town Hall and involved not only

Hello, and thank you for allowing me to speak to you today as an anti federalist. I will be speaking about why the constitution, in its current form, should not be ratified. I would like to start today with a quote from one of our papers “When a building is to be erected which is intended to stand for ages, the foundation should be firmly laid.” As anti federalists we believe that the way our constitution, the foundation of our nation, is being constructed is incorrect, and primarily only beneficiary for the aristocrats. Over time we have obtained information and experienced first hand how fragile our foundation really is.
This journey and thirst for belonging inspired her poetry book Loop of Jade. Howe begins her book with the poem Mother’s Jewellery Box. The poem acts as a gateway to the main topic discussed in her other poems: the relationship between her and her Chinese heritage.
