I remember my first trip to the Cook Islands. My wife and my two sons, Jack and Luke, decided to go on holidays and we choose to come to the Cook Islands to have a break. “Ra-ro-to-nga” is the main island, where the tourist can have access to enter the country, although it was the only island in the country with the international airport. It was also the largest island in the country. I was surprised to see that the Rarotonga had trolleys and the airport looked like ours back home. The boys didn’t really like it at first, but eventually felt better after a few days exploring the island and seeing all the people and the local girls. You know teenagers these days, but careful, this father is very over protective.
We spent about 1 week in Rarotonga and flew to the island of Aitutaki, the second largest island in the Cook Islands about 45-55 minutes flight from Rarotonga. Aitutaki is well known for its beautiful lagoon. We stayed in a beach side bungalows for the rest of stay. We spent nearly the whole 5 days there snorkeling and diving and fishing with some of the locals. My wife loved the island so much

Daniels took us to the hotel and offered to take us for a ride to see the island. There were only 5 villages on the island and plenty of beaches. “A-re-o-ra” I think that’s how you say it was the only village I can recall. The other villager’s was too hard to pronounce their names. One thing I can remember on the trip was that Mr. Daniels said, Atiu is over 6 million years old. He said the island was discovered by a mighty warrior who travelled by canoe from another island. The name Enuamanu was the islands historical name which is still used today. It means “Island of the birds” due to the fact the island has a lot of birds and wildlife creatures on
In 1985, Australian Government returned the land to the Aboriginals and a joint management was set up by the Aboriginals and the Government to manage the area together. His way of doing this was he began by giving the reader a description of the island in a geographical way. Although in the book he does not provide a topical map for us to reflect on, he instead gives us an image of the first map that was ever documented of the island. He then tries to portray a picture showing how the island was initially formed, as well as how the very first explorers and Native Americans that founded the island may have seen it through their eyes. The way that McComb decided to do this in his book to me was an appropriate technique since McComb said that a shipwrecked Spaniards were some of the first individual to acquire the island.

Many people wonder what happened to the islanders and wonder why they disappeared. Easter Island is famous for its many large statues which were carved of stone and dragged half way across the island to be placed. But to move the stones, the people had to cut down palm trees which eventually caused the island to be stripped of its trees population and caused the animals to migrate and find other food sources. When the animals migrated it caused the islanders population to collapse due to wars and starvation which lead to cannibalism among the people. Although the island had went through an ecological disaster in the early 1600’s, the people were able to restore the stability of the island and they lived relatively well until the late 1600’s.
