I was born in Philippines where my life journey began. The Philippines has many beautiful places but where I lived, in northern part of the country, I learned the hard way. This motivated me to become a better person in this generation. In the year 2010, I came to Hawaii with my dad and my sister. I was excited because it was my first time riding a plane. I knew that Hawaii will be a great place for me because my relatives who were already living here always told me that I will have a bright future ahead if I do my best. I remember when we got out of the plane, my dad told me that I will be enrolling to a new school. I was only in fifth grade and my goal was to speak English so that I could understand others and they could understand me. Enrolling into a new …show more content…
In my first day at Waimea Elementary School, I could barely speak since I was really shy. As days passed by, I slowly started talking to my classmates. Then I met Gian who became my best friend. For the first time, it felt as if I had a real brother. We would ride the bus together, eat lunch together, do school activities together, and trusted each other. I gained my confidence because I had my best friend and my classmates who also became my friends. When I graduated from elementary school, I knew that I was ready for the next chapter of my life. Entering Waimea Middle School was not as difficult as when I entered elementary because I got better in interacting with others. Throughout my middle school years, I earned many awards and certificates such as Academic Excellence and Grit Award because I really enjoyed learning. Also, during my eighth grade year, I wanted play basketball so I tried out for the school team. It was nerve-racking when I waited for the result but I felt so lucky when I got accepted in the team. When I had my first game, I was so excited that I
It was easier for me for the fact that I was with the national team for 16years. It
After a week I got called and was told I made the team, which was an event that started my whole journey and was one of the best successful events. As the years went on, I played for the team and became close with everybody and the coaches. This team helped me become more approachable and outgoing. One coach was a really big mentor to me and helped me get through the struggles I had in tournaments and games, teaching me lessons that I still use to this day. Playing with that travel team has its downsides; it was only in the summer and was different from something like high school where it was one game, there were multiple a day, and lasted a weekend, which I was not a fan of most of the time.
Hi Journey Group! If you know me at all, you absolutely know that I crave new experiences and love to share them. This year, I have begun new adventures… from beginning a new job, to becoming the first African-American female Publisher in Charlotte, to fulfilling a life-long dream of writing and publishing a book. We all have connected at different points in my life, and by far, this is the most exciting time for me that I’ve had in a very long time.
That summer, I decided that I was going to extend my branches further than they ever had been before. T and I both started the school year with some kind of boundary between us and our best friend, and were left to fend for ourselves. Mine was the fact that
I was born on January 21st, 2002 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at Allegany General Hospital. The next morning my parents brought their youngest daughter home where she would live at for only six months. After six months of living in Pennsylvania, my parents decided that the weather wasn’t ideal for them, so we set out to Palm City, Florida where we have been living for twelve years. I obviously have no memories of my life in Pennsylvania, but I have many of my life in Florida. Wow!
I have been moving around to other countries since I was 4 years old. Every time I moved I changed. The first country I went was Brazil, I stayed there for 5 years and it was an very fun childhood. I used to play with the kids in the neighbourhood and I had a lot of fun, I learned to swim, ride a bike, and I even was selling lemonade.
I was born in Northwest China, in the province of Jiang Xi. Eighteen years ago, my parents had decided to adopt from China after finding out they were unable to have children of their own. After researching about adoption agencies, they found an agency in Texas. Gladney Center for Adoption, forwarded my parents information on two twin girls that needed a family. It was love at first sight and they planned their trip.
A sense of jubilation ran across my body while having a stomach full of butterflies was with me as we did our team cheer for the first time before our first game. The coach gave the starting line-up, I was not in the starting eleven. I expected this because I was in fact one of the new players. The referee blew the
I was so nervous of course I didn’t want to do bad and I was only a sixth grader. But I played good and started for the rest of the season. This is one of the proudest moments in my life because I practice so hard everyday to make the team. Soccer is my favorite sport and wanted this so bad, and I learned that if I practice hard, good things will
I am Tajrin Sraboni, 12 years old. I am a student in PS/MS194, New York City, for 5 years, but I grow up in Dhaka, Bangladesh. When I was 7 years old 's I moved to the United States, in Castle Hill, New York City with my family. It was so difficult time for me because I had to adjust to New York peoples, change my language and style. And if I don 't come to this country, my life would be hugely different from now.
When I got to middle school I found out I would have the opportunity to join sports and other activities. Sports allowed me to increase not only my physical abilities but my emotional and mental ones. I learned what determination, perseverance, and hard work were all about. Cheerleading was one of the next things that I joined, and this is where I gained the confidence to speak and use my voice. I was no longer the shy girl in class, but I was much more confident and even gained new friends.

How was I going to survive a place that I had never stepped foot in? Who was I going to confide in when I needed to be understood? That same day, I spoke to my best friend on the phone, I told her everything. My best friend and I have been through and seen it all. Ever since the first grade, we have been like two peas in a pod.
My story starts when my parents decided to move from Poland to America to raise a child. For me this was not of much significance because I thought life overseas was the same is it was here. I did not understand why they would come to a country where they had to learn another language and start their lives over. As I got older I started to think about why people come here instead of staying in their native countries, it was not until I experienced it for myself that I knew how important my education was. Over the past summer, I had gone to visit the rest of my family in Poland, and spoke to a lot of them about education.
because I was born in the suburbs I went to private school but they didn’t know deep down we all have struggles within ourselves. Other kids that weren’t as fortunate as me saw me as cocky. Only time they respected me was when they saw what I can do with a ball at my feet. At the age of three I picked up my first soccer ball that’s when I found out what love was.
