THE PROVINCE WITHOUT OLD PEOPLE (self.freehorrorstories) submitted 3 months ago by -janrae It’s summertime again. To be honest, I don’t like staying at home during this season. My mom had always been nagging me to look for a summer job, which I really don’t like. I’ve been studying for the whole year and now I’m going to tire myself to work again for the rest of my vacation? Come to think of it, I heard that my aunt has a wide beautiful farm. According to Dad, Aunt Eliza is really good in taking care of it, thus the fruits of her labor had always been that bountiful. I decided to stay there for a while and chill. The best part of staying at Aunt Eliza’s is that I get to see my pretty cousin Mana. She’s cute and all, but of course she looks at me only as a cousin. The eldest, Johann, treats me like a big bro. It’s really cool staying here. The only thing I really wonder about Aunt’s place is that the town is not as populated as the other provinces. I guess you could say people are moving and going in the nearest cities. Living in a province is indeed a tough thing, especially if you’re like me, a city guy, who enjoys malls, bars, game rooms and different establishments that are deprived to be seen in a faraway town. Nevertheless, it’s a good place. …show more content…
They’re really tasty!”, Uncle Fred said. Aunt Eliza quickly took them out from the basket and washed them, and then placed them well in a plate. As I munched the first one, I quickly had the delicious taste of the tomato. It was juicy and for some reason, the taste was intoxicating. Mana and Johann was laughing at me and told me it’s as if it was my first time eating a fresh tomato. I just smiled and continued
I picked up the chunks, brushed off the dirt, ate one, and stuffed the rest into my pockets. I went straight to the Milgrom’s . Uncle Shepsel gave his usual greeting: “Ah, the smelly
I thought that it was pretty interesting that just a potato has some significant medicinal properties. So I decided to give it a try, after I just got home my mother screamed and when I went down
The Economic insights into Seven Canadian Mid-sized Cities and the Lethbridge Herald that summarizes the report are all referring to a boom and bust cycle and how different sectors are impacted by it. The main bust (recession) referenced in this article would be the decline in oil prices as it has affected Albertans significantly. Intensive agriculture, “high inputs of labour, capital, fertilizer and seed per unit of land”, saved Lethbridge from feeling the recession to the same extent as Red Deer for example making it a unique Alberta city (Hayter & Patchell, Economic Geography, p. 216). This essay will look at the trends of three mid-sized cities, Lethbridge, Red Deer and Medicine Hat, in comparison to both Canada and Alberta and see the
Potatoes I didn’t mind, but I hated brussel sprouts and turnips, however, Mother hated when we complained and Father always spanked us. Closing the door behind her, Mother said, “Elizabeth, none of the other wives
“With beds quite far apart, our room has an air of spaciousness, while the other two are somewhat crowded, and somewhat darker. Although she is assigned to the Putzkommando, Mommy is allowed to join me in the
So as you can see, Aunt Alexandra has changed not only socially, but at a very foray type pace that is very noticeable. She would at first hate colored people and as well as disrespecting and disagreeing with Atticus and Scout to being a loving, nice and respectful person to all no matter how nebulous it was to
To begin, Aunt Alexandra is one of the many voices of hypocrisy in the book. Aunt Alexandra is a symbol of old southern charm and what woman were supposed to act like in the 1930s. She lives by the fact that family is the most important thing in life. She judges
Furthermore Grandmother Majauskieze is a smart lady from what I have learned. She has been living in the area of the packing town for a long time now. Majauskieze explains to the family about the conditions of the house they are staying at and gives background information to them. The house they are staying at is a cheap house, which was built with inexpensive material. She explains that there has been many families moving into the house Jurgis is staying at due to deaths or illnesses.
Why do some people move away from their hometown and some never leave? The answer to that is they probably want to move out of the cold, move to another state for college, they want to live in a state that has four seasons, for different job purposes, or even to live closer to their family members. Moving away is a whole different reality, depending on if you 're moving away from your family, to college, or even to start a life on your own! When moving away it 's a whole new journey. From not having to do very much living with your parents, fending for yourself 24/7, buying food, and making sure you get up on time.
Aunt Alexandra, teaches Scout, what a lady is and when it is the appropriate time to be strong and have an opinion and what the family roots are. Aunt alexandra, found out Tom, died while she was attending the missionary circle. “If aunty could be a lady at a time like this,so could I.”(Lee,237)Scout, now understands that sometimes being a lady and understanding the proper etiquette of one at times like that is extremely useful. Alexandra, acting strong proved to Scout, that being a lady is
Despite the attractiveness and propitious of Toronto, it has also exacerbated social polarization as a result of globalization; reflected by containing the largest financial hub in Canada, the grossly spanning condo scene, and gentrifying
Even her young grandchildren acknowledge that their Grandmother is unabashedly nosy when they comment: “She wouldn’t stay home for a million bucks… afraid she’d miss something” (O’Connor Good Man 284). The children don’t seem to be extremely fond of her; most likely because of the condescending way she often speaks to them. When they are driving through Georgia, John Wesley makes a disparaging comment about their home state, and the Grandmother responds haughtily saying, “If I were a little boy, I wouldn’t talk about my native state that way” (O’Connor Good Man 285). Despite all this, she still views herself as a good and fine woman. When talking to the man at the restaurant where the family stops for lunch, she remarks, “People are certainly not nice like they used to be” (O’Connor Good Man 287).
Immigration has been and will continue to happen all around the world. There are so many reasons for people who come from different countries and ethnicities to move from country to country. The reasons why these people immigrate is either they are simply forced to, due to violence and hostility or that they are in search of a better life for them, and or their family etc. Canada being rated number one in quality of life has been a goal for people wanting to immigrate. The Immigration and Refugee Protection Act ( IRPA) was established by the Canadian government in the year 2002.
Those people probably want to branch out and expand farther from their roots. Some people on the other hand would like to just stay where they grew up with friends and family. Me, I was one of those people. I never imagined my life away from the home and the people I grew up with. Moving away from my hometown was one of my biggest challenges in life.
An elderly could live in a retirement center, nursing facility, or alone with relatives and be in good health or in bad health (Papalia, Feldman, & Martorell, 2012, pg. 541-542). Chronic illness and psychical change will be occurring during late adulthood yet, another focus will be psychological development, which is heavily influenced by the social environment in which one elderly lives and thus brings out the importance of finding good living arrangements. This is a huge factor in many other life stages as well. For instance, “the state of the job market may determine when offspring choose to leave home… [or] when we retire may depend on the provisions of our pension plan.
